The white guy felt he was being mocked, and as the black guy reached into his pocket he figured that the black guy wasn't trying to be his friend. It's sad, but i can't say i hate the young white cop. The only real asshoels in this movie was the chinese couple who had Laotian slaves ready to sell in their truck. I think what Ludachris decided at the end was very good, though he tries to hide it, offered a great deal of money for the slaves but he refused it. Real paragon of virtue if you ask me.
Every time I hear this song now I will tear up a little. It will remind me of this movie. I usually would't cry but this movie was sad, awesome, and best movie I've seen.
the won who is involved in the crash saying 'If you're gonna talk to me, you speak american!" despite the fact she's not even speaking enlgish (american) herself.
Every one who is an American citizen or wishes to be an American citizen, needs to see this movie. The greatness and ugliness of our "great experiment" (as our founding fathers called it) is brought to light in this film.
I watched this movie again and thought that it was very enjoyable, it's the best race movie since "Do The Right Thing", even though it's worse in a lot of ways.
I loved this movie, every saturday night i go to movies, i collect movie tickets, the saturday night i watched thjis movie i left the theater happy by knowing that i have enyoed a great time. i cared so much for detective graham ( Don Cheadle), the little girl who was shot, the movie producer who´s wife was mollested, Tandie Newton pulled out from a flaming car and lovely ending, finally Ludacris did something good and the girl who was crashed at the very end . lovely sound track
The ending is less than 5 min. and no one can understand what's going on? Come on now, just because it's in Spanish doesn't mean it's hard to understand. What do you think other ppl do in our situations. You really don't need to understand everything he's saying..looking at the situation in the movie is enough.
ludas' character finally did something right..also i like the ending, how the previous characters somewhat resolved their problems/issues, but a whole new cycle began with loretta devines character
Anthony ends up riding the bus but gets out when he sees the Chinaman's truck, keys still in the lock. When he takes it to the chop shop, they find out there's a bunch of Asian immigrants in the back. Georgie offers 500 apiece for the immigrants, and we cut away. When it returns, we see Anthony dropping the immigrants in Chinatown, and giving them some money.
He was enlightened unlike his black buddy who had no problems with white but was shot dead by an off duty white cop. He was portrayed to have died a disillusioned death, a punishment for trusting whites. This guy on the other hand, was always embittered and HATED whites. But now he was racially sensitized and less bitter. If you see, this movie is NOT about promoting love between the races but a SATIRE on the different multiracial American attitude. That's what I feel, and I alone. Great movie.
@trenchie2 This you may have posted a couple years ago, and even though I loved the movie, I could NOT agree with you more, finally someone has the guts to see what I see, they're so many movies out there, that when touching the subject of race, all seem to have one common denominator, and that is if your white, the liberal media, Hollywood and politics (especially now) always have portrayed the white race as shameful and always the antagonist against blacks. I refuse to be ashamed of my color!
@trenchie2 even if you're right you hava to respect others opinions. This movie is fantastic and makes us think, so opinions may be different. Other than that, this movie is really one of the best!
P.S.-Sorry for the bad english, that's only my 2nd language...
@trenchie2 I don't think his death was portrayed as punishment for trusting whites....it was the white cop who didn't believe that his openness to white culture (specifically in the movie, hockey and country music) was genuine, and he thought he was being mocked. Then to top it off, the white cop shot him because he assumed that the black hitchiker had a gun in his pocket.
the gist is that the guy who was stealing from people is now smuggling in immigrants but giving them money, and thus giving them an opportunity (rather than stealing it). The car crash at the end is like the beginning.
Moral: we can choose to remain the same and blame others, or we can change our own minds and create a better place to live, for everyone around us.
And I'm not done yet. The white cop who HATED other races was sensitized by his rescuing experience and the white cop who had NO problem with other races ended up shooting an innocent black guy (well innocent in the current situation because he was so embittered by what others had told him. Amen.
@trenchie2 Im pretty sure that scene where officer Hanson shoots Walters brother is more about how racism is underlying and although we may think we aren't racist, like officer Ryan says "wait till you've been on the force a few more years". We need to step back and examine ourselves before we just say "I'm not racist". But like all good texts, its open to interpretation.
@trenchie2 i think that part was flawed. hes an open-minded kid, trusting enough to pick up a black kid at night. and as soon as the black kid starts laughing, not even being mean to the young cop, the cop loses it and tells him to get out. that part was a bit too much but hey, thats my opinion. other than that, amazing movie
@trenchie2 You're making this movie all about race, tho. It IS an example of how irrational it is to generalize an entire race instead of focusing on individuals, but the movie is also about how each of our actions has a ripple effect. It's about how all of our lives are intertwined, and what you do can affect someone you don't even know exists (i.e., the man who shot the locksmith's daughter would have killed an innocent girl had his daughter not bought blanks for his gun).
Actually, I kind of like the fact that the ending was posted in Spanish. It highlights the point that we need to change our ignorace to other languages, customs, and races.
Fortunately I also understand spanish and other languages..
Hey moron, no one is obligated to do everything according to your own way. Did you not fucking watch the movie? Do you not get the point about racism, ignorance, and stereotypes made in this movie that you're doing right now? You should be ashamed of yourself.
Try getting an education before telling people what to do, bigot.

I missed a part, this is the real summary:
Anthony ends up riding the bus but gets out when he sees the Chinaman's truck, keys still in the lock. When he takes it to the chop shop, they find out there's a bunch of Asian immigrants in the back. Georgie offers 500 apiece for the immigrants, and we cut away. When it returns, we see Anthony dropping the immigrants in Chinatown, and giving them some money.
