it is so hard for me to find a red that works for me. I have olive skin I usually wear foundation that is considered fair or ivory depending on the foundation. Can anyone suggest a red lipstick or type of reds that i should try?

@Diamonddusted68 It's hard to say...probably an orange based red would work well on you. I would go on ebay and buy the 66 lip palette...mix and match the colors until you know what works best before you splurge on a red lipstick. :)

I understand what you're saying about small cosmetics companies. Lately one of my major obsessions is shopping small independent upstart cosmetic companies. I'm so disinterested in the products coming from the major cosmetic dinosaurs. I like the fact that these smaller companies are making a higher quality product, better pigments, and are actively involved in the make-up scene.

hey there, i came across your video looking for other lipstick options other than MAC. does the heat affect the lipstick at all? in my profession its very hot and moist so i guess my question would be, does the lipstick "melt" off if in high temperature?

I think it has reasonable staying power but it wears like other matte lipsticks of the type. High end lipsticks.

question: how well does this lipstick stay on? i wear red lipstick almost everyday (without lip liner for a more casual look) and i use a MAC lipstick that has clay in the formula because it doesn't budge, like, at all. i'll need a replacement soon, though and this video struck my fancy!

Wonderfully well. The only problem is that the heavy pigment and long wearing formula can dry lips somewhat. So I usually exfoliate and use a lip balm before I apply. After that, it wears a little when i eat and drink but only requires minimal reapplication. Good question.

I love 'Carmine' by Besame, its a beautiful orangey red. However, when they underwent their website construction for a few months I noticed when they came back that their prices nearly doubled. Even the beautifully packaged but very small gold bullet lipsticks' prices increased and that really disappoints me.

Wow really? Maybe a little over a year ago when I purchased from the site I paid around $8 for everything and like $10 for their beautiful satin brush roll. Maybe it was a sale? I could have sworn it wasnt though.

Oh, it definitely was a sale. If you look at some of the critical reviews of Besame online, one of the complaints has always been the price tage of nearly 20.00 for the small sized tubes. There is even a youtube 'haul' review that says that. I got mine from Mybabyjo for 18.00 in early 2008. And that was on sale. So i was actually pleased to see that they have dropped the price to 15.00. Either way, the new lip color set is a great deal!

lip brush=precision. Red lipstick is much better applied with a brush. :)

I really like that color. I recently tried Revlon colorstay ultimate. It´s a liquid lipstick and WOW. The color I got is superb sangria and it´s also a blood red, I think they might be the same tone. Also, it is the only long wearing lipstick that has actually stayed true to that promise. I know it´s from the bigger companies, but I usually never order cosmetics online, and it´s always nice to have a drugstore alternative. But I agree, the vintage packaging alone would make me want besame!

I think that the lipstick you featured is actually vegan, one ingredient I'm not sure about, so I contacted the company anyway.

and $15-$30 really isn't bad for a quality lipstick, just think of how long s tube lasts, it's not like spending that money every week :)

I'm not sure yet, the ingredient Glycerin could be plant or animal derived so I emailed them to find out. I should have a response within the next couple of days so I'll let you know :)

I finally got a response from them and here is what I got: their Masterliner pencils, shadows & rouges are vegan and their new "Classic Color Lipstick" coming in the Spring will be vegan :)

I can't wait to try those out!
