  • whats a Cosmo Topper?

  • @DGarcia879 I do believe Floyd is referring to Cosmo Topper, the character in the 1937 film "Topper" (or the 1950's TV sitcom). Cosmo was the only one who could see the ghosts who lived in his house...but he wasn't a ghost himself, which means Floyd's analogy really doesn't make sense...

  • Also . . . anyone notice Johnny La Rue may've actually been part of that group he was reporting about?

  • @wmbrown6 What I noticed is that the lining of his coat looks suspiciously like seal skin.

  • Also . . . did anyone notice an error in Floyd's analogy of what Earl looked like with the latter's blue suit disappearing into the chroma-key?

  • @wmbrown6 I was quite surprised to hear him say "Cosmo Topper." But I didn't think about it until I read your post: Cosmo was not the ghost!

  • It looks like this particular sketch was taped on the same day as the one where Earl's son briefly replaced Floyd, given how Floyd's attire looks the same (and his hair, likewise) in both clips.

  • @wmbrown6 Wow, what a good eye! It's highly possible, too - this clip is from Series 1, Show #16...while the one with Earl Jr. is from Series 1, Show #15.

Plus I've read that they shot all the similar sketches in batches, to save money, mainly... :)

  • @kaisaid1 - That's what I've figured; this seemed quite common in the show's first two seasons.
