a lot of resent is being thrown at DoR but I loved it and really the only thing i hope for right now is for Intelligent systems to continue the series (idk how, after all the world is supposed to be in peace at last, but the baddies always find a way to get back, just like the BH army). DoR had some great improvements but I feel they still fell short of doing an excellent game. Hopefully they'll add new CO's with broader abilities, likes Gage whose specialty was naval and indirect combat

If anything, I'd have preferred Days of Ruin to be even more serious and dark. The first arc (Beast) was very good, then it got silly again, in a way. I suppose also because the whole Advance Wars game is based on pretty much mass production? You can't really care for every unit (like they made Brenner do) feasibly in that system.

Things like that flower virus or just Caulder in general were too weird to be taken serious, though. (Still one of my fave chars, just saying it did not quite fit)

are you crazy? Days of Ruin is really serious and dark! We have Brenner dying because the NOR was greedy, virus spreading because of caulder, the great owl nearly killing every human that isn't a clone, crops dying, dusty clouds, and a bunch more. Could they have any more hazards?

The storyline and characters are different, but the concept and many of the units are the same. It's still Advance Wars.

this game ruined Advance wars for me. the Plot didn't make sense and they replaced all the Original Characters. Biggest Disappointment I've ever had from a sequel.

Anyone remember that bit when a missile was incoming and they said they had 30 minutes to stop it, then it still goes 'Day 2', 'Day 3', 'Day 4' etc.

And how for 'training' against Yellow Comet & Green Earth, you were using real soldiers.

No examples of no sense in the plot right there. Still an awesome game though.

I really liked Dark Conflict but I think they should make the next game more like the old series, with the old COs and factions and all.

I completely agree. Dark Conflict wasn't bad; in fact it was a great game. The old series was just better.

advance wars 2 and even 1 were the best. they shouldve been respectful of such a great game and just stopped there. instead of making new crappy ones they shouldve made the game more public with clubs and tournaments with prizes and stuff. it couldve had huge appeal

I dissagree, it wouldn't be fair on european customers as they never organise european events, plus graphics will adventualy put most people off and by making new games they are adding extra spice to keep the game fresh.

because european's are usualy looked down on so much, america is their target market and europe makes what was spent on the game. europeans are usualy left out on events and sometimes newgames and game advertisement because its too much fuss and they think they won't get enough money, but the sales can still be good here (because new xbox 360 games are only £40 (brittan) and DS £30 new. instead of $60 or $45) so we can afford it more.

I really enjoyed Advanced Wars: Dual Strike. And I played through Days of Ruin, and, it's a good game, but I think that Dual Strike was much better.

Advancewars dual strike was a great game which even if it looked liked a childs game it definatly wasn't.

however dark conflict in't as good but still fun. =)

Well, the new additions actually balanced out gameplay, its the fact that they took out many elements that players liked

I think it's very difficult to say which one is better. Personally, I think Dark Coflict is a little bit better though.

It's more balanced, and I also prefer the style, setting and music over that of Dual Strike.

Days of Ruin is way more accurate for the setting. It's the Days of Ruin.

I'm not arguing why they have two different names or which one's better, but there's two different names for a reason, and that's when Japan released it, they gave two copies of the Japanese script for both America and Britain to translate. That's why Days of Ruin (American) and Dark Conflict (British and the one I have) have different names. They also have different dialogue as well.

Dark conflict may sound cooler, but it has nothing to do with the game. Days of Ruin explains alot. This game kinda scares me because of what happens in the story.

I don't know but it does not matter. Almost all the COs have different names in Europe. Will is called Ed, Brenner is called O'Brian, The Beast is called Drakov... The list goes on. Yes I mean that more then half the COs have different names in Europe. Also some of the units have different names in the Europeon version.

They are turb based stratagy games. You have a grid like map which you command an army of uints. There are many different units to master, the game has loads of depth and it rules! I own every Adnvance Wars and this one is easily the best. Thanks for the comment!
