I also conducted an interview with Dr. Brock, the discoverer of Thermus aquaticus, the bacteria which harbored Taq polymerase that made PCR so much more efficient. I wrapped my documentary together (with the priceless taped interviews), & I had a great documentary (I might try loading it to my youtube page.) I went through my school competition, placed at regionals, and took 3rd at state (out of almost 500 statewide)! My experience was irreplaceable and that which I learned was fulfilling!

@isoccer64 PCR has had a large positive impact on forensic science among other fields requiring sufficient DNA from very small quantities of biological material. Amplification of DNA has allowed forensic scientists to perform many other discriminating tests as well as generating an ample quantity of DNA for future testing.
Well hey, thanks for the response, and I cannot agree more, PCR has had a HUGE impact on forensic science, as I learned through my research (which I conducted about a year ago.) In my research and interview process (which I had hoped to talk with Jennifer Elwell), I was able to contact Dr. Kary Mullis, the Chemistry noble prize winner and inventor of this amazing process. I had the unimaginable honor of speaking with him for about an hour over skype.
