  • @44thepistol

    Cheers to that.

  • @44thepistol

    That's a good analysis.

Jordan did have the best foot-work ever, though.

  • @LSant178 yeah i agree with you. but what the heck, maravich is special =) its like he's a time traveler who plays on the 70's with he's beyond the time moves =) its like smooth + move = SMOOVE hahaha

  • 3:05 crazy pass

  • Man I didnt realise how gud he was :0

  • he should've played for the globetrotters, at least there'd be on white guy then..

  • that underhand scoop is swaggalicious

  • Before Jordan 23 it was Maravich 23 :O

  • This stuff is amazing even today. Can you imagine watching him live in the 70's?

  • Best player to play the game. He is my role model.

  • I don't mean to disrespect Jordan, but I think Pistol Pete was the greatest offensive player ever, in my opinion. Maravich didn't even have to dunk to prove it.

  • @LSant178 i think theyre both great at offense =) but pete only has those mad basic skills..

  • @745dzl your really not a good jordan fan then. Google why Jordan choose 23

  • If he wanted half his brother's number he would've chosen 22 1/2. He loved Pete to death. He copied Pete's style and took it to the next level like all generations do. He took it to the max. Go and ask him yourself if you don't believe me. And, I'm a Jordan fan. 23 Forever, baby. That's how I'm rollin'.

  • if you've ever seen the documentary, there are players who are now considered legends who say that Pistol Pete is the greatest player they've ever seen. why do you think Jordan chose 23 as his number? look at what Pete's number was before he wore 44 and 7. he could do it all.

  • @745dzl he chose 23 because it was half of his brothers number 45

  • @akeeling5 ....B.S.

  • has to be best song and vid mix ever for NBA

  • like an old school steve nash ! lol

  • freakin nugas every withc way holy shit with mad style

  • celtics shoulda given more minutes by the yellow king of carcosa

  • magics role model

  • Fantastic selection of clips Wonderful choice of music RIP Pistol

  • Nobody like him before or since. Poetry in motion!

  • It all started with Bob Cousy, followed by Pete Maravich, who then taught everything he learned from Cousy to Larry Bird, after Bird came John Stockton, who is now reincarnated in Steve Nash. The endless reincarnation of great white players who dominate the NBA with smarts not physicality.

  • My favorite player is no longer jordan but ,,'pistol"pete maravich

  • @718webrooklyn you said it lol pete was nice

  • 4:16-4:19 = iconic (open floor, ball-handling, scorer). Not gonna lie though, Ricky Rubio news brought me here

  • Avg 44 ppg at LSU even before thier was a 3 pt line!

  • "Maravich jumps... swish!"

  • His dad made him crazy, but he was the original showtime, long before Magic Johnson. In his prime, he had no peers, he was before his time. What a talent, and sadly died very young.

  • LSU for the win

  • Take it back def in my top 15 ever Lol

  • man the pass at 1:28... Imagine if he was running point for the Miami Heat lol

  • Not even in my top 15 greatest players ever.... But the most skilled player to ever touch a basketball

  • When I was little I wore number 44 for Pistol Pete and Iceman..Only thing is I was born in 89 so I have no idea how I knew about those motherfuckers.

  • @tghetto5 same with me my 2 favorite players of all time just so amazing with the ball

  • Back when basketball was actually basketball and you had true great players and not referee/league protected players.

  • good song

  • Pete was the best and will always be the best. Don't care too much for the song though. The clips are awesome.

  • @1:26 I've never seen anyone throw outlet passes like that, underhanded! I liked the second one better than the first but they were both great.

  • Best ball handler ever. Pay attention, he doesn't carry the ball. The NBA let's it go today, but none have some close to his ball handling and passing. Jason Williams dribbles the right way. Aside from him, very little do nowadays.

  • i hate when people see that your white and automatically think you cant play basketball

  • RIP pete

  • He is the greatest that's ever played.

  • his dad told him if he didn't come with him to LSU he wouldn't have a place to sleep anymore...if you know what i mean....best college player ever period...he didn't even have a 3 point line and he is still the all time scorer in college basketball...nobody else will ever come close to that...NOBODY!!!!!!

  • God bless Pistol Pete!

  • 4:17-4:21 is still one of the sickest things I've ever seen

  • "Pistol pete is alive in 55"

  • 3:54! Nice move!

  • for those of you who haven't seen the pistol pete movie "the pistol" i highly recommend it

  • Did I just see the Rondo ball fake at around 4:20? lol

  • @Killuminati42991 not rondo, maravich ball fake at 4:20 :D

  • @Killuminati42991 no it was the pistol pete ball fake

  • I don't know why nobody mentions bob cousy, he was the first showman and had made some foundations for that style of playmaking. But still, pistol took it to a whole other level adding different passes and a lethal jumpshot

  • Dude's amazing....He stands in his own essence, as a baskteball fan, as a point guard, no matter what race or ethnicity, ITS SIMPLY "AMAZING!!"

  • I love this mix, still today this is my favorite video on youtube..fair to say it made me a pistol fan.

  • The shooting accuracy of Larry Bird, the ball handling skills of Magic, Stockton and Nash all rolled up into one and the ability to make shots from anywhere like Jordan or Kobe. Why isn't this guy ever mentioned with the best of the best? Have you seen all his awards for both college and NBA? This guy was a stud. If he was black, I guarantee you he would have been considered the best ever. JMHO

  • @swstryker i totally agree with you but he never won a ring that probably why no one will consider him one of the greatest which is bull cause if we r talkin bout ring the no one is greater that bill russel he has 11

  • @swstryker Has nothing to do with race. Pistol has always been considered one of the greats. The only reason why he sorta gets knocked down a peg on his college career records is because he played in a segregated conference. That was his dads fault. And although he had a great pro career, his knee injury limited the abilities that he had in college.

  • Maravich always looked like he was playing out of control, but in fact he never was. You could not stop him from scoring. The best.

  • A must see

  • i bet he still practices basketball in heaven

  • unforgettable......

  • Not tryin to be a hater here, but isnt 3:51 a double dribble? I'm askin the question but I know for a fact thats a double dribble

  • @ItsGriffin probably, but how many double dribbles and traveling calls get called in today's game. I'm just saying...

  • @swstryker

    True.

  • @ItsGriffin actually if you pay attention, he doesn't double dribble

  • crazy player..just awesome...teodosic can be one day like him,but he still need much work

  • nice vid~

  • The guy all the greats learned from

  • whoa birthtimez, lets not get carried away. hes not a better shooter, jordans a better rebounder and..... theres something else missing......... its on the tip of my tongue......oh yeah.......... DEFENSEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! your forgetting an entire half of the game. jordan was superiors defensively, and all the intangibles lead to jordan blowing everyone, including maravich, out of the water

  • @MsDog2345 --hey man show some respect will ya?? MJ and pete are BOTH better shooters. every player has his own style. so cut some slack man =p

  • people forget that he was a sellfish player

  • This is a fantastic song to put with this video. You did a wonderful job :)

  • id say pistol pete or the big o were the greatest all around players in the game

  • The most skilled basketball player who ever lived. How do you even imagine all the game situations he made up for himself -- let alone devise the drills and carry them out with mind-numbing repetition? He was like Mozart, but his dad would have done him a big favor by sending him to another college coach, so he could have learned how to be a team player earlier.

  • That Larry to Pistol pass old school

  • ooh cute! 3:07

  • Thank YOU.

  • i watch this before every game now :) thanks.

  • Ricky Rubio is nowhere near the talent that Pete was...Pete is more talented than Michael Jordan...he's a better shooter, passer, and would have won numerous championships if he had better teammates and better health...

  • dude, I'm a massive MJ fan. It's my belief that MJ is the pinnacle of what it means to be a basketball player.

And I still agree with you. Pistol Pete is as pure a basketball player as has ever lived.

  • @birthtimez i dont know about all of that...

  • @birthtimez I agree with you !

  • @curtis12388 not even close.

  • Pete Maravich waz nice with it lol

  • The "Anglo Freak!!"... Sorry Larry L. or Steve Nash.. Can't touch this!

  • Keeping distances away, i can see a bit of him in Ricky' s way of play, what a pitty Ricky has been so stupid this season...

  • @r3v0luc10nar10

stupid? he won the euroleague this year, and when he gotta go to the NBA will be a young player with so much experience in proffesionalism than other rookies because european basketball is better than ncaa nowadays

  • About things like that i love BASKETBALL!!

  • pistol pete - unbelievably silky smooth

  • The best thing about Pistol Pete was that he loved Jesus Christ... The way the Truth and the life!

  • Amen! Merry Xmas...and God bless u in the name of Jesus...amen...I became a born again Christian like 7 years ago...and in large part cuz of Pistol Pete...

  • yes i'm being serious. my name is jennifer marovich! & he was my second cusin on my dads side...

  • I was related to Pete Maravich.

    R.I.P.! I love you! <3

  • In what way? Is he a member of your family? Or did u just admire him too much?

  • are you serious!

  • Don't see many people doing all this things in the league now. RIP Pete

  • Yup...Jason Williams comes to mind but he still wasn't half the scorer that the Pistol was...

  • Matfpd 123 get some class

  • Rubio just happens to look a little like Pete. He is also Flashy like Pete. He better learn to shoot if you plans to stay in the NBA. He also needs to get a lot stronger.

  • ¿Maravich is strong?

  • ricky rubio is next pistol

  • dont ever try to compare rubio to pistol pete until you can see what rubio can do against good competition an a day to day basis if anything rubio is the next nash but he cant be in the same category as pistol pete yet.

  • aaa i didnt compare anyone, you are comparing people. Rubio like nash, he must prove himself before comparing the guy true. But me im looking in the future and im saying if rubio cause to NBA after 5 years he will be like pete, but only rubio he can DUNK :D hihi just playing with you now.

  • There's a vid of the Pistol where he is actually dunking the ball during what musta been a warm up or maybe a game of horse...

  • @flight23magic32 yeh i have seen that i read a book about him that said that he could actually dunk with ease and could do a 360. this was when he was young though before his injuries

  • I also have a book about his life...it's called Forever Showtime: The Checkered Life of Pistol Pete Maravich by Phil Berger...and what about the book you've read?

  • @flight23magic32 maravich by wayne federman

  • Is it any good? Cuz I know that mine is really good...and Id recommend it to anybody...merry Xmas and God bless u in the name of Jesus...amen!

  • thanx merry christmas to you to. yer it is a really good book. it is very detailed and has many quotes from people who knew pete.

  • How old r u? Cuz Im 32 and I've only seen one complete game of the Pistol...it was the one where he dropped 68 on Walt Clyde Frazier and the Knicks...and I wanna know if u were alive in the 70s and if u have any recollections of that era especially as far as basketball and Pistol Pete is concerned...

  • @flight23magic32 no i havent seen any i am only 16 sorry i wish i was alive to see him though.

  • Ok...thank God for youtube and the internet then...

  • That's good...u play basketball?

  • Hey DontHateThePlayer17 , Pete could dunk. The dude was like 6'5. He was just not famous for dunking.

  • SMoothest jumpshot

  • you don't need to be able to dunk to be a good player

  • shut up you dont even know what you are talking about anyone in the nba can pretty much dunk but pistol pete wasnt a dunker that doesnt mean that he doesnt know how he just didnt do it as much

  • Pete Maravich was the first white streetball legend... Jason Williams was the player to come close to him as far as style goes. But isn't nearly as good.

  • Hey...I'm from spain, and when I was 16 and he 14 i played against him in a tournament, and also have seen ricky rubio playing every sunday on tv or even in the court and sinceresly and not because of i'm spanish he's really really good, like maravich does things in a different way, understands basketball in his particular way which is really atractive for fans,but...nowadays i have to say he's nothing compared with pistol, maybe one day he'll became an amazyng player like he was and he can

  • rubio is a wannabe maravich ,stockton, and nash

  • @LakersPwnLebron24

sure, i'd like to be as those legends

    don't you?

  • I would love to see him play in the Nba now. The game play speed has slowed down since Pete played. He would still dominate

  • nba is terrible. just a bunch of overpaid 6' 8" millionares jogging up and down a court on a basis of one pass and a shot.

  • how can anybody be compared to maravich? there will never be another pete maravich

  • all the legends die/retire young, ITS NOT FAIR.

    as far as death goes...

    Pete Maravich.

    Bruce Lee.

    Michael Jackson.

    :(

  • Michael Jackson fucked little boys!!!! Sum of the earth. Pistol was a very up standing guy. No way in hell should these two be put togather!!!!!!!!!!!!!! get a life know ur facts!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Michael Jackson never did any of the such, in fact if you had YOUR facts straight you'd know that both boys that accused him admitted they lied a mere week after he passed away. its documented jackass. Michael Jackson had a heart of gold, that's why he has outreached to so many nations with his music, dance and charitable acts. in a corrupt world we live in now, I understand why he cried...he gave love and all he got in return was hate and greed.

  • Oh yeah...I had forgotten about the retractions of some of the kids that had accused him when I said that we don't know for a fact if he had had sex with little kids or not...my bad...so I take it back...

  • You're so ignorant, and btw detective tracked down and found one of the boys who claimed michael "touched" him and is a grown man now and has changed his name and he now says none of that ever happened, and that his mother just wanted money..Let Michael Jackson R.I.P because one day you're gonna be the one being talked about in the most negative way

  • Well...we don't know that for a fact cuz he was never found guilty of anything...maybe he did have sex with little boys, maybe he didn't...but what we know is that for a fact is that Jesus saved him...it's thanks to Jesus that he gave up alcohol, drugs and also Jesus set him free from depression and thoughts of suicide...

  • rubio wont even be half as good as maravich

  • Everything Rubio does, he got from Pistol Pete and Rubio can't score like Maravich. Maravich is not like Rubio. Rubio is a wannabe Maravich.

  • Thats right, but there is nothing wrong with that, he doesn't say he is. He knows hes not. No one will be.

  • @JDouglasDavis

Rubio is more a defensive player and a playmaker

Pistol Pete was a fabulous scorer with amazing passing skills and imagination

the only thing they have in common is the ballhandling and the hairstyle

  • @JDouglasDavis So rubio sucks huh?

  • ricky rubio sucks

  • shame on the person under you who said "he's like ricky rubio", i sincerely hate overly ignorant people.. but cmon man rubio has been playing in one of the hardest leagues in the world for the past 4 years. he entered at 14!

  • YOU suck!

  • he's like ricky rubio!

  • Its incredible how all his shots, are just perfect splashes, his shot is just georgeous, nothing rattles in, its all just a smooth arc straight thru clean

  • imagine if he teamed up with stockton and malone, they could have won a few championships.

  • Pistol was the most skilled player of his generation. Even today, players cant execute some of his passes and incredible shots.

Love the fake behind the back pass on Jerry West.

  • grande pete, ma il moglior play rimarrà sempre magic!

  • where do you get all these small clips to put together? I'm just wondering so maybe I could make some mixes of old fun players like elgin baylor, bill bradley, Kareem, and Wilt? Plus sub to me...

  • this was extracted from a TV show, it's not a mix made by flywoniu23

  • Pete Maravich, the best player never to win a championship. I hate it when great players don't get any real success.

  • In the NBA becasue he's the best NCAA player of all time.

  • the way he flipped the ball full court to the guy right on stride at 1:28

    amazing

  • the full court one hand underhanded pass at 1:34 is insane and look at how many of jumpshots he makes were nothin but net. Amazing offensive player. My question is if he played today could he guard anybody?

  • Yes, look at the ncie defensive action at 3:45

pistol pete avg 1.3 steals but first 3 yers werent counted mgiht have been 1.5 thanks to those first 3 which is good

  • unbelieveable!!!

  • whats the song name some one reply me pls

  • Amazing - Aerosmith

    :)

  • We needed to take Pete's DNA and clone him. With today's rules about palming, traveling, 3 point line and hop-stepping Pete would have to ask himself each night. Do I want to score 60 tonight or should I get 30 assists, hmmm, maybe I'll try to do both in the same game.

  • That's what upsets me about this generation of basketball fans. They don't recognize greatness like Maravich, Frazier, Barry, or West.

They feel guys like Maravich is just old and boring players. He would school todays players and it would be a sight to see.

I can almost guarantee he'd probably have 60 points and 30 assists in the same game.

  • the NBA sucks today, plain and simple...the era of watching it ended with Michael Jordan. now Magic, Bird, Malone, Stockton, and all the good ones from that era are retired.

its just a pansy league that's all about endorsements and money now...the officials are paid by David Stern to make Lebron and Kobe look like demigods.

  • pete maravich died in 1988 and ricky rubio was born in 1990...u believe in reincarnation?? he did found god before he died...so...what if?

  • he was so good its almost funny..

  • nice

  • sry wrong vid

  • hey i jsut thought or this (im random)

That dudes name Mikey Way sounds like milky way! LoL

    Lov this song and combo!!!

  • What song is this

  • He was treated poorly by the Hawk players back in the day...'Just because he's white' my ass.The man could play.Saw the man play in Boston when he was a rookie and they were calling the poor guy 'boy'. They aren't in the hall of fame...'Boy' is.

  • fuck michael jordan, pistol pete was so much better if he would have ever been on a half decent team he would havew atleast 4-5 rings.

    simply the best ever!!!!!!!!!!

    RIP PISTOL

  • Pistol Pete is really good, but as much as I like him, I think Michael Jordan may be better.

  • he was on a good team at one point

if u knew anything bout him

u would know he was on the celtics 2

  • best ever period!!!!!!

    RIP PISTOL

  • Great job,I never so many Celtics clips. thank you posting. Who the hell is Ricky Rubio?

  • you don't remember the spanish playmaker in the olympic games? :ooo!! we're very close to win ;P and without Calderon, Ricky played great...

    ...1101...

  • ricky rubio will never be anywhere near pistol pete u homo

  • well done video

  • When ricky rubio improves his shot and speeds up thats when you can say ricky is the next pistol pete cos ryt now although ricky is awesome, pete was just amazing shooting and finishing whise! give rubio 5 years! then we can think about making a comparisant
