  • bari is not your instrument dude..

  • wow.. good job man. i wanted to do this peice but my director didnt wanna buy it for me -_- whatever lol i ended up doing canzona. anyway,.,, what college did you go to after all? sounds like you could be a good music major!

  • @12stuart23 I prefer Gonzalez reeds over vandoren when it comes to classical stuff. They have a richer tone, and they have tone even in their softer reeds (reeds of which come quarter sizes instead of halfs. I play on 3.75, which is about equivalent to a vandoren 4 or 3.5)

  • Hey I'm an alto/soprano (for 2 weeks)/Bari (as of a couple days ago) player. How do you double tongue?

  • @JeremyOwnzAll practise ...

  • i play ths instrument, only in 8th grade noe. i am actually pretty good. so proud to play this instrument. could you give me some tips on how to play better? like the reed size, and crap likt that.

  • @619reyreyboohite reed size depends entierely on you :) but vandoren is the best make !

  • @619reyreyboohite All those things really depend on the player, some people like gonzalez, vandoren and a few people i know play the rico reserves, the apparent 'top of the line' rico reeds... The best advice is to play around and try a whole bunch of things and combinations and see what sounds and plays the best. Have fun!

  • sub-par the whole room should be resonating with you playing that instrument

the bari especially should have a very deep fat warm sound, not a grouchy kind of sound try to open up your throat and relax.enjoy every note and musical aspects of your songs.try to master scales major, minor, whole scales, major thirds, minor thirds, etc.start from very slow and progress into faster tempos. and for double tonguing try playing concert b flat and double tongue continuously even if your tongue gets tired

  • Being a Baritone Sax myself you really need to work on your tone and your articulation. You can try to use a Ron Caravan mouthpiece or a Selmer C*. Also, work on your articulation. You can buy Steven Mauk's Saxophone Warm-up book. You can also use a little more vibrato.

  • its alright, definitely didn't sound like a hard piece besides the part where there was "double tonguing" that sounded like fast single tonguing,

junior high sound by the way and it sounded like you beating your reed with a 2x4

  • you sound good man! im a high school bari player myself from northern california and this is a ridiculous piece, your tone is great! i personally say dont listen to all the other comments because for bari players, the horn makes the different especially you have a low Bb horn and its an older model. If you can, you should try classical bari horns like new yamahas and yanigasawas keep it up man you sound good and how do you double tongue like that?! i can only single tongue almost that fast

  • you sound great! theres a big difference between low Bb and low A bari sax horns, your sound you get with that horn is awsome! this piece is pretty intense and one thing i would say is just keep playing more, your missing some octive jumps which you should cheat tongue. the thing about tone that everyone is commenting about is mainly because of the horn i would say, my low A bari sounds really dark and thick as appose to your bari which is on the brighter side but you sound great keep it

  • im a bari sax player myself so dont be offended

but yeah your reall need to work on tone and articulation. yes its harder on a bari (nature of the instrument)

nd did you have the low A key?

cause that actually helps with some alternate fingerings

  • Playing bari is hard. Being a player, I would know. In my opinion, this is a very good solo that he did very well on. Now if you cocky tools wanna go ahead and try it, go right freakin' ahead. Let's see if you could play carnival in venice on a bari sax, with a 3 reed, and no low A key. Then we'll see who gets the better results.

  • dang man thats really good the sax players at my school wouldnt even touch that song with a ten foot pole, i guess the only reason i can play it is cuz im on trumpet its probably way harder on barry :)

  • wow, im impressed, your nly 16 and your already a cocky tool

  • lmao

  • indeed

  • It took you this long to find a song you needed to double tongue? Your director should be challenging you more and more often.

Your attacks on the beginning of each phrase are harsh. Practice slow and build up the speed, you are not always in sync with your tonging and fingering.

    Needs work.

  • decent.

  • Disappointing. I expected more, especially tone wise. You need to work at it,

  • you are 16 years old. Who are you to judge someone?? Shut up or put videos of yourself up...especially one of you playing this..oh you cant...little kid

  • Good enough for a middle schooler but i would expect better. Good tone and selection and im sure you could play something harder or more impressive but you need to focus more on your double tonging. It gets to the point of thuddy when you hit too low on the reed. Try to hit it more on the tip. And its taka taka not tiki tiki or tuku tuku.

  • Meh, I could do better, I.E. Faster tempo, clarity of notes, and steadiness of tempo. But very nice nonetheless, just watch out for the dragging/rushing. But nice on the double tounging, somethign I cannot do.

  • My school has that sax, but its in a million pieces...

  • ¡Eres realmente bueno!

  • thanks

  • This is really nice sounding. What reed size were you using? (if you remember!)

  • thanks alot, 3

  • @viarossnsteve vandoren?

  • obviously he's playing it slowly. but that does not matter. you are supposed to play at a speed you are comfortable with and it's not the speed, but the tone and accuracy that counts. and he did a VERY good job! i play tenor sax and i got a dilemma while playing this piece. I don't have a low A key! so i have to do the second variation with the palm keys in the upper octave. it sucks, but im doing this for recitals!

  • His sax doesn't have a low A key either. Good luck at recitals!

  • i can send you it. watch my video, i have it recorded. I have the sheet music

  • idk, i got it through my school, id try jw pepper, or ask a local music store

  • very nice. love the sound.

  • very good
