my buddies and i used to spend every weekend and summers playing with star wars figures and toys. we used to reenact star wars movie scenes as well as make up our own scenes. boy, those were the days! i sure miss them since i got old.
@MsKeith1969 Don't feel old buddy...Star Wars makes me feel young...I was nine when Star Wars came out and when I spend time with my collection I still feel nine. I do spend time with other important things though, like my dog, my goldfish...and...and...yeah, that's right, my family. At the very least, buy the first 12 Star Wars figures back from ebay and put them in a display case. My original 12 plastic figures mean more to me than my ex-wife.
@shelkamark i REALLY appreciate your message VERY VERY MUCH!!! yeah, just like you, my star wars action figures mean more to me than a lot of people do. thank you again for the nice complement - happy holidays, god bless!!
@shelkamark Man, nothing beats those original twelve figures. The first toy I have a memory of was the R2D2 figure. I was three years old and was twisting his dome and feelin' the greatest joy in the car on the way home from the toy store. Nothin beats 1977.
The landspeeder was very simple but it's one of my favorite of the vintage vehicles. My other favorites: the Falcon (of course), TIE Interceptor, Y-Wing, B-Wing and the Snowspeeder.
if i remember right i went to school with the blond kid. his name was frank jones and he lived here in garrettsville ohio for a bit...if i am right and i haven't completly lost it...it would be nice to know...
VINTAGE COLLECTORS BEWARE...there is a Scam artist called YODAS HOVEL ripping collectors off from a site called classicstarwarsfigures.c0m He recently got booted off ebay for his activitys so I feel that I should warn you...DONT LET THIS THIEF...YODA'S HOVEL...RIP YOU OFF !!!
The force goes with us! Yeeeaaaahhhhhh! By the way, just who the hell was,"vancing"? Hmmmmm, maybe it was those knock ya out, speeder jackin' Tuskin Raiders. Boo-ya!!! Careful, they do frighten easily but they'll come back. And in greater numbers! Damn right! Tuskins got's da posse,on das eassss-yde and da wessss-yde!
One day I opened it to find it totally EMTPY! It was obvious my liberally-corrupted mother had thrown them away! She lied about it of course, and I proved it because I borrowed my friend's blasters/sabers for just long enough to gauge my mother's reaction, which was "where did you get those???"
She finally admitted it decades later, claiming it was not good for boys to play with guns.
LOL about the weapons! And I remember I had a hard time to open the freaking hood it was so hard so I have to slams it into the wall front first to get the hood open! Sadly after 3 or 4 time its broke and my mom threw it away...
Ha! I know what you mean. :) What good is a stormtrooper without his blaster? Like in Aliens, "what are we supposed to use? Harsh language?"
Naw, but I knew my Mom loved me and "thought" she was doing the right thing. Plus, she underestimated my creativity. They all got guns back... I made them new ones out of meticulously carved wood and paper. My brother even fashioned a superior light saber that the beam could actually be removed from a tiny handle. UBER cool.
I have two of those from childhood. I got one in the store and another at a garage sale across the street so Luke and another character could race. "Spring glide wheels"....never referred to them that way. Always called it the "hover feature". "Spring glide" makes sense though.
Wow, I forgot about this commercial, but seeing it has reminded me of something that bugged me then and bugs me now... at around the 19 second mark the kid says "Activated <blah blah> wheels"
He says "activate spring glide wheels"..If I remember right the wheels could recess into the toy and you could pop them out so it would roll. The wheels were on springs. If you watch the video you can tell how it kind of moves up and down when they roll it or put figures in it. Glad you havent been wondering about about the meaning of life for the last 25+ years because that would take me more than 500 characters.
My very first Star Wars vehicle. I wish I still had it today.

"It's up to Luke Skywalker and his land speeder to get us out!"
Who is "us?" Maybe the kids think they can climb inside the toy and avoid the Sand People.

The hood is where I kept all my figure's weapons.

...and women claim men are the oppressors.
