Man for all the talk of Australia having deadly wildlife these guys sure are terrified of a few big cats prowling around. As with sframe1978 I'm from the west coast where there's a ton of cougars and there's only very rarely any issue with them.
no offense sonbuhitsunei, but I thing the term 'myriad' is a bit extreme. Yes people on occasion are attacked but it is not the rule. You have a better chance of getting in three consecutive car crashes within a year than you do getting attacked by cougars. I have friends and relatives who have lived on the West Coast for decades and most have not even seen a cougar much less attacked by one. I'm not against taking out a rogue cat; just against the destruction of the whole population.
Again with comments about these cats being dangerous that is so untrue. If these cats are cougars or related to cougars they are unlikely to attack. Cougars are very shy, they avoid human contact unless sick or dying. We have them on rare occasion coming into cities in the States but it is very rare. Very few people get attacked by cougars on the West Coast. If you leave them alone they'll leave you alone. The paranoia of these cats is unjustified.
@sframe1978 Tell that to the myriad people in the US who have been mauled by them. True, they do tend to only go after the old or small in stature, and are very unlikely to try to hunt a 6 foot tall man, but a small woman, a child, or an elderly person is definitely not someone who should be alone and unarmed in their territory. One elderly couple was attacked even though there were two of them, in Colorado- the man managed to fight the animal off with the help of his wife, luckily.
if these people are so willing to bring out the truth about these cats why dont they put some night vision cameras around the suspected areas, as like every other money greedy group these people who made these video just want to make some money and create another bull shit conspiracy theory
@darrylxxx1 These cats also simply don't belong in Australia- they are not native, and will pose a serious threat to the ecosystem if they aren't eliminated. Then again, we're technically an invasive species too- we simply decided that we're the only invading species that doesn't have to be kicked out, because we like it there.
Even in South East Kansas there are sitings of puma, but yet the "authorities" deny them, even say they are just "large house cats". Even with it on a security camera, they still deny it is a large cat.
personally i dont think there is, the habbitat could support them but how would the keep breeding? and surly some body would of analized the droppings! DONT try to change my oppinion, i belive there may of been 1 or 2 that have escaped but theres not a growing speicies as far as im concerned, thats just my oppinion dont comment back.
I have hunted remote Australian bush from a young age, i never really believed in the big cats until i was 29 years old, i actually seen a large black cat, i estimate it to weigh about 40 to 50 kg, body length approx 1.5m without tail, about 1.2m tall. I haven't seen anything since, but i have never been back to that area.
I saw a cat on several occasions on a relative's property in Daylesford, rural Vic. It hated staying there, I was always so scared. I have lived in Boronia all my life and haven't heard of any cat's in the Dandenong Ranges, let own my own suburb!! Makes me panic a little bit...I hope they are wrong =(
Plenty of people have seen this around WA - most farmers have a story to tell - Ive taken plaster casts of big cat prints around Kojonup, WA and interviewed farmers who heard and saw it
wow that old guy host means business!! It is funny how people on tv always use that deep voice when they are talking about something 'serious'.. is it supposed to sound more masculine??
Ha Ha this is a little silly. I mean I've never met anyone who have ever mentioned big cats in Aus. and I know a lot of people. There are always theories. Although my father has seen feral cats that have been enormous in size but they were just a very large normal house cat that had become feral.
yes! they should take these things seriously, these animals are able to kill humans on sight if they are breeding! I am actually boiling of anger listening to what the authorities have said!
i could be a dog shit, my dog shits bigger logs than me
