at first listen i didnt like this album, turned out to be such a sleeper hit, and as you can read all the comments here, it is way more appreciated than first listen.

thankfully dtones could see through the bullshit and stick with this album, its WAY more indepth and has HUGE meanings behind it beyond first listen, unlike any of the previous few albums (white pony was deep, but didnt have as many unlockable meanings like this album did)

@TheDeftonesVault Shit I could not have said that better. I've had love for Deftones from a young age and they're still one of my all-time favorites, they're just on another level. I've read poor reviews for this album and had read it almost split the band up during the recording process, but regardless it still remains my favorite album by them, which alone says so much. Amazing song and band.

@TheDeftonesVault actually, this album have a higher score at Metacritic than white pony. It was apreciated by the critics, the problem was that many deftones fans wanted the band to do another white pony instead of a heavier and more personal record.

@TheDeftonesVault it all depends of wich review you want to read, there are various factors that determinates album's sales, one is that this is deftones more unfriendly record, other is that probably white pony sold that much because of the rap metal song back to school, but when the people heard the full album they realises that B.T.S is the only rap metal song on the album, so they weren't interested in the band's next album.

@ilovechipotle85 people were expecting another genre bending album exploring new territory. around the fur was very diffferent from adrenaline and white pony was like all the best qualities of both amplified and mixed together. this album was just a damn good album, as was saturday night wrist. though i prefer this one to SNW. haven't heard much diamond eyes.

@msa1985 i never really could get into snw that much. i've listened to it over and over but its still not one of those deftones albums that i crave to listen to. diamond eyes is pretty dope. there's a few songs on there that i don't care too much for, but overall its well worth the purchase. my favs on that are "you've seen the butcher", "prince", "royal", and "risk".
