@Technoguy3 At some point during the DPR releases. The earliest OS X builds with Aqua (I think DPR 3 is when it showed up), it was just a bunch of blocky icons. I want to say that just before the Public Beta, when resizing was changed to bicubic algorithms or something like that, it gained a much more attractive look.
lol I got $30, wheres my copy! No really I bet this would be fun to have... Though I bet you would have to keep your clock set back, and over all nearly useless..
Intel Processors has nothing to do with the OS stability. Besides, OSX was always designed to run on an intel architecture as a "secret hidden life" as Jobs put it. And actually no, OS 10.0-10.2 was not very stable. Stability is in the coding of the OS, not the transistors and pipelines.
Ah - this was before France and Germany surrendered to the Euro.
Anyway, I remember getting a new job in 2000 and the OS X preview was already on one of the partitions of the Mac I took over - a G4 400 Mhz btw. I was totally drooling over the shadows and transparencies but it had almost no practical use at this state :-)
go to Google Video and search for Apple Expo 2000. One of the results is downloadable and it contains, among other things, the Public Beta introduction.
@MacintoshDan Are you asking where to get a copy of Mac OS X Public Beta? Because I have no idea... And even if you could find a copy, it was time bombed to expire way back in March 2001 or something like that.
Do you notice how nobody claps when he talks about Internet Explorer

When did the dock change into the transparent background instead of just the square-shaped icons?

planeman009 2 years ago
For Mac, maybe, but Windows had it since 96 (with NT4).
But that doesn't matter, the original post's intention was to mock stupid people getting excited by nothing.
