Off the subject. Just beat the game! Good overall but TOO MANY puzzles! No place for puzzles in an adventure game. Must be at least 20-30 if not more. Complaints about puzzles in game call KONAMI at 310-220-8330. Hopefully the next one has no puzzles or animals stealing our relics/magic.

It was a good game but not a good castlevania game cuz it hardly feels like it. I really really hope that this reboot was a one time thing and that the story written for this castlevania was born with it and dies with it. well if mercury steam does make another castlevania i hope they let Koji igarashi, ayami kojima, and Michiru Yamane help them so they can keep that castlevania feel to it.
Hmm, pretty nice game if you don't compare it to the game it does share some simular stuff, God of War 3. I still pick God of War 3 over this, but this was a nice game to play anyway.
The reason why you have to click on the left stick to absorb orbs is because your left stick butten is light magic. Later in the game you also get dark magic which the right stick is used to absorb. This way, you have a choice to absorb magic in dark or light magic for tactical uses.
Looking at this review, the reviewer didn't seem to get past Chapter III. If the orbs were automatically absorbed then how would you be able to choose to fill the Light or Dark meter?
LOS is a great Castlevania game with a good story and EPIC ending. If the reviewer wasn't so occupied in comparing LOS to the DS games, he would realize it had more in common with Rondo of Blood another great Castlevania game.

I haven't played that many Castlevania games.. but isn't the basic premise of these games generally just whip, climb and solve puzzles? That's what the ones I've played have been like, and that's exactly what this looks like. So I don't know where all of these reviewers are getting off saying that this isn't Castlevania. The only major difference is the 3D environment, but even then I'm pretty sure there was one on the PS2 that was 3D. So it's not exactly anything new.
what the big nitpick is, with some people- is that it doesnt take place entirely inside a giant gothic castle. Which is ridiculous. Since Castlevania 3 didnt take place all in the castle either.
its all Symphony of the Nights faults for people wanting Castlevania games to be set in the castle. most players only know Metroidvanias and think that they are the only ones there are, so when a Castlevania game comes out that isnt like that they instantly bash it to be just some ripoff or copy of recent action hack&slash games.
I really liked this games aproach on the world/map system where you make your way to the end boss and not just wander around in castle, which was beautiful!

I've been playing castlevania: dracula x for the snes recently, and I've just gotten past a part were very large bats are flying down at you while carrying flea men, dropping them off and flying away. In Super Castlevania 4 there's a point were you're platforming over water while fighting the mermen that jump up to meet you. At the same time, stopping can mean death because there are mermen in the water trying to shoot you off. The point being is that Castlevania has always been about action.
I've noticed people making references to shadow of the colossus, god of war, etc, etc. Well, the developers said that this game was inspired by super castlevania 4. Taking a look back to that game, it was very action based, to the point that platforming was more of a side note. It was linear, but then again, all castlevania's before SotN (except for simon's quest I believe) were that way. Bosses were always larger than life in the series. Item crashes (Rondo of Blood) were big and flashy too
