I still get questions on the spring compressor. I didn't use one of those either. To remove the cams I loosened each cam cap a little at a time to spread the force of the compressed valves. For installation remember I did this by myself so to put cams in I had to apply even pressure to the cam with one hand to open some of the valves and tighten the cam caps a little at a time with the other hand.
