  • I'm surprised he never released this song. I think it's lovely.

  • Always....

  • Whether he writes it or sings it, this man can turn any song into a clarion call, even when asking his audience to follow their own dreams.....

My dream, Boss, is to one day get to a state where I have the ability to acquire the rights to your songs to put in my movies... how about that for a dream Boss???

    Thanks for the song!!!

  • Changed a couple of lyrics? Totally different song to Presleys. morons.

  • rhythemless, vocal suicide (Like my spelling)

  • This is the song Elvis sang in 1962, but Bruce added new verse lyrics and rearranged it. The chorus is the same, and the second verse is essentially the same. Both versions are great, though very different.

  • Wish there was a LOVE button on this instead of LIKE! Same goes for all of his music!

  • All you commenters that are talking about Elvis are NOT listening to this video...this is NOT the song Elvis sang in the movie "Follow That Dream." What a beautiful song, nonetheless, Bruce...Bravo !!

  • @fab4fan4ever64 - You sir are correct!

  • BleachFan: I am not sure, but the song Nils performed may have been "Man at the Top" - a song he covered a lot back then, one he cited as a Bruce fave.

  • I have heard Bruce sing Elvis' "Follow That Dream," in concert -- as Elvis had done it -- but this track is not Elvis -- nothing to do with Elvis.

  • this song is not even close to elvis version except in title only. elvis was great but he had his own nich, while bruce has his. no judgement as to which singer was best.

  • I'm trying.... I'm trying.... but does that dream follow me...???

  • As you can see; Elvis is the King! period!

  • This is Elvis' song ..

  • this is not the Elvis song......quite different

  • I just love it! :-)

  • I was at this concert in octyober 1986..Nils was there also and did a set. It was a song written by Bruce; however I can't remember the name...anyone out there have any thoughts? BTW Danny F is playing the accordian and Nils is on guitar on this song Follow Your dream (written by Bruce)

  • @Bleachfan604 Follow That Dream is not a Bruce song. It was originally performed by Elvis P in 1962 and was written for him by Fred Wise and Ben Weisman. Bruce changed the arrangement and a couple of lyrics but it's not his song.

  • @Bleachfan604 maybe the song you mean is "Man At The Top"

  • @Bleachfan604 The song Nils did at the show was "Man at the Top" (released by Bruce on Tracks).

The Wise-Weisman song does share a paraphrased verse and chorus with Bruce's song. But if Bruce released it, it would certainly be credited to Springsteen (Lyrics and music) and Fred Wise (lyrics).

  • A classic performance by Bruce and the great Danny Federici on the accordian is sadly missed by all on E.Street.

  • one word BEAUTIFUL

  • Very good song.

  • OH! That is beautiful. I love Elvis, but this isn't a song I have ever heard before, so I don't have a previous version in my head. But wow, what a great song and great performance. Lovely, thanks for posting it.

  • You're all kidding that this is a cover right? The lyrics and melody are different.

  • how time passes by

  • look at that young Danny. ((sigh))

  • Great cover.

  • who is he covering...cause the lyrics are different from the elvis' follow that dream--aside from the chorus, of course.

  • I meant Elvis' song. And yeah, I know it has some different lyrics, but it's still technically a "cover".

  • Where is this material from? Was this released officially?

    Thx in advance

  • Hi - as far as I know this song is not on any of the officially released CDs; but it can be found on several bootlegs. The song was first played during the RIVER TOUR in 1981.

  • Thx, well I know:-)

I actually meant the video-material, it seems to be editied and so on, so I hoped someone could tell me if its possible to buy it somewhere

  • For Uschi.....over the ocean........ "...follow that dream wherever they may lead.."

  • Spoken like someone who has most likely never accomplished anything noteworthy in life. And yes, this is personal. As for the rest... keep following those dreams - wherever they may go.

  • True. You have to be a moron to write something stinks when clearly it moves other people. It's ok to say I don't like it. I find this song sooooooo uplifting. Rock on bruce

  • Great Elvis song in a beautiful and personal Springsteen version.Who else picked up the Elvis dream but Bruce? In my book Bruce is second only to Elvis!

  • The 2 versions (Elvis' and Bruce's) are sung in different contexts, but both interpretations are fantastic !

  • You're rigth brother! Bruce is the musical son Elvis deserved. Bruce learned with Elvis mistakes and keept working on his legacy.

  • legendary!!!!

  • It´s just soo damn good. Can´t stop listening to it :)

  • I respect Bruce for being orignal.. Its tough doing covers.. I love Elvis' cover;however, Bruce holds his own using his style.

  • The ultimate version of this fantastic song!

  • fantastico!!!

  • magic song from the boss

  • My all time bruce song, though its a cover.

  • I'm not sure I'd call it a cover since he makes so many changes to the lyrics, which were mildly maudlin in Elvis' original.

  • Keep On!!!

  • FANTASTIC!

I'm a Huge Elvis Fan, but let's be honest: This version is a Pearl a Nugget, far far away from the "cheery Elvis film song", that was inspired.

This is a Five Star piece of music!!

    Bravo Boss!

  • Sorry for Bruce but Elvis is another thing!!!

  • It give me hope, I love this song.

  • One of the most touching and meaningful songs I have ever heard. Especially ´cause I´m a big Springsteen fan this song really got me.

That´s what his whole intention of his songs is about: following a dream and not giving up! Doesn´t matter what will be up the road, everybody has a dream he has to reach!

  • Funny to think the song started life as a cheery Elvis film song. Totally transformed :-)

  • Just love this song!!! Thanks for sharing this with us!!

  • Awesome.
