I've been out 4 times in 4 days and i still have not panned out one speck of gold... how the hell do you figure out where to start looking.... its back breaking.
Hi dTd, Try prospecting a known gold creek like Ingalls creek Wa. or there abouts. And only work gravels that contain clay or lots of muck, that's where the gold is. I do best with flat benches next to a creek's edge, if it has no gold then try further upstream or downstream. I've seen good gold creeks turn up absolutely nothing on some benches and half gram nuggets on a bench just around the bend. I almost never have found good gold digging directly in the creek , unless I can get to bedrock.
Actually, this video didn't tell the whole story. This creek had a big flood sweep down it which nearly took out the bridge over it, but the flood left this pile of gravels on a corner overtop of an impacted layer of old material. I was really only digging down to the point where this layer met the impacted layer to get the gold. The top gravels had nothing, zilch, but the point where I hit the impacted layer had the gold, some pickers and such. Washed gravels never have anything . . think clay!
Thanks Swede, actually the simplest classifier that I liked the most was a 5 gallon bucket classifier which classified everything wet-style so when I worked clay encrusted ground it did the trick. You'll see pics of it in the Photobucket account and it's a common design.
But I do have a Photobucket account that has a bunch of videos in it as well. enter Ron629 into the Photobucket search engine to check out a few more prospecting pics and vids.
Well I bought an old motorcycle that I had been putting my time into instead of prospecting, but I can't do either hobby right now because of the snow. ;) Hope things are going well with you.
HeeHee, I should have made it longer so that it could have been used as a screen saver video just for those long cold winters. My toes are still not squished ;)
I love this simple yet amzing idea. It just blew my mind that this is the first i've ever even seen of this, Thanks for thje share i will be buiilding one myself.
Are there more videos showing other great ideas, tips or techniques? i would enjot seeing more if this is so.
Yeah, I do have some other real great/weird ideas so I will get another one loaded just for you in a bit. I will call it Gravity Dredging and it uses $20 worth of equipment.
