Grieg says Gershwin is the killer, Strauss says Grieg is lying when he says Gershwin is the killer. Since only one of them killed the guy, only one person's second sentence is true, and they both contradict eachother, so one of those two killed him. Which means Gershwin and Joplin lied with the second sentence, and they both said Grieg did it, with the information, making Strauss the killer.

It's all a lie because Beethhoven is deaf. He couldn't interview anyone.

Anyway, all you need to figure this out is Grieg and Gershwin. If Grieg's first statement is the truth then the second must be a lie. In which case, Gershwin would be the killer. That would mean that Gershwin's first statement is a lie. Meaning that his second statement is the truth. That would not make sense because that would mean that Grieg is the killer. The only way there is not a contradiction is if Grieg did it.

since all their first statements are i didn't kill him, this is the killers lie so the killers second statement is true. since this statement is true for everyone else, everyone else's lie is their second statement. so the killers second statement is true, everyone else's is a lie. strauss is the only one whose second statement doesn't blame someone else, so his is the only second statement that can be true if he is the killer. it's strauss.

So if you go down to Grieg and you are directed to Gershwin if his second statement was true then Joplin would have 2 truths instead of one.

Now look up to Strauss Grieg is lying when he says Gershwin is the killer that is the truth... Which only leaves him... IT WAS STRAUSS

It was Strauss. Here is how I solved it. I started with Grieg's statement, which means Gershwin cannot be the killer, otherwise, both of his statements would be true. Next is Strauss' statements. If Gershwin is not the killer, then Strauss's 2nd statement is true, which means his 1st statement has to be false, which means he's the killer. The other two guys' statements are actually unnecessary.
