military? I thought one of the points to free schools was for people to question everything. to direct their own lives and assume authority is unjustified unless there is evidence otherwise. I thought that was the whole point in not having a hierarchy. how do you go from this to taking orders whether you agree with them or not? I'm not sure that one has critical thinking skills of any kind if they decide to insert themselves into the military.
Are these kids serious...they want to drop out of school (5:21) because they want to do more of what they want! HELLO, you want to box, dance, or hang out and do nothing. It looks like you are already doing nothing, so why not try getting a REAL education in math, science, or any other topic except How to lounge and be lazy 101.
Well, those two lazy kids... one is in college now and the other just finished basic and advanced training for the military, so for a brief sample of lazy kids, they're doing ok... and were schooled in a place where they were free to express normal teen ideas about how they want to spend their time, not insulted, as it seems you'd do to kids. :(
@tlguthman You know, I was one of the kids that a got a so called "real education" in math and science and it pretty much left me in the same place that these kids would have been without 12 years of torment and standardized tests. The school system as a whole is no longer functional for the type of education future generations are going to need to have. Making little factory workers is no longer necessary. Kids need to be given the chance to "think" again. An ability you obviously lost.

I love the ideas behind unschool, and I wish there was a place in my state for one. Cause I would be the first one signed up to work there.
