  • Smunday!

  • Rare? This was a single!

  • Malcolm In The Middle !

  • The RedBar is a fat ninja, He believes that we can't see him, but...

  • UZUMAKI

  • i heard this in malcolm in the middle

  • Their songs have more than one meaning and they admit to this...usually bits and pieces of anything, sometimes taking a tongue and cheek stance on religion, politics....they like to poke fun at things........they are not the types to be anti anything.....they are just being creative and keeping the fans entertained.

  • TMBG are true artists. You get out of their metaphors only what you are looking to find in them.

  • I always assumed this song was about a guy who had too much to drink.

  • Why do John Linnell's vocals sound continuously off-key in this? In the version I typically listen to, he's usually on key...

  • Brooooo I've been lookin for this forever...

  • song is about drug use

  • @darkblighttmo No it isn't.

  • @YourFaceWillDie468

    um yeah it is

  • @darkblighttmo The way I interpret it, it's about taking risks. TMBG doesn't write songs about something as shallow as drug use; any fan of them would know that. In fact, the Johns claim that their drug of choice would be coffee, so...there you have it.

  • Respond to this video... lol listen to the words dumbass, the spiraling shape is drugs.. no one knows what it is really like but everyone says it's great.. lol this is one of the only obvious tmbg songs out there where you know exactly what they are talking about

the johns are pretty anti drug and this song is pushing that agenda. i have heard every tmbg song and been to about 40 concerts, and met them in person. i also go on the wiki alot and read about song meanings from them, drugs

  • @darkblighttmo "no one knows what it is really like but everyone says it's great..."

You could just as easily say it's about taking some sort of risk. Sure, they're anti-drug, but I've read numerous interpretations of their songs, and most of the time people say it's about some sort of complicated, abstract, esoteric concept. God forbid you should be as hardcore a fan as you say you are and still not realize that.

  • @YourFaceWillDie468 @darkblighttmo You're both wrong, John and John are not "anti-drug". They Might Be Giants have written songs clearly about drug use, such as The Statue Got Me High. Linnell has also written Idaho for his album State Songs which is about a drug trip John Lennon had.

The song is up for interpretation, as there is no assertive meaning given to it.

  • @retroSLEDGE The Statue Got Me High isn't necessarily about drug use; I heard it was about someone who's mind is literally blown by how awesome a statue is. However, I agree with you that they don't limit their topics; their songs are all pretty much open for all interpretation, and I find it annoying when people act like their interpretation is the right one and nobody else's could even possibly be accurate.

  • hey... how.. not at all rare whatsever.

  • I'm confused as to how this is rare... This is straight off the studio album, Factory Showroom. Released on a major label, no less!

  • @CapeWearingSchmuck It's rare because this is the first time this song has been uploaded to YouTube.

  • @CapeWearingSchmuck

    Marketing scheme.

  • malcolm clip is here with the cart falling off the roof lol watch?v=nej63d0NxXQ

  • I love spirals :3

  • It was on the soundtrack for the Kids In The Hall movie from the 90s. We used to play it in college radio.

  • not rare at all

  • This song was in the best tv show ever!!!

  • Love that this is similar to Junji Ito's manga "Uzumaki" where people get driven insane by spiral shape. Kind of an old wives' tale about the subject, And TMBG makes a catchy tune about it. Genius.

  • @EricNinden Funny you've mentioned that. Someone on the Anime News Network did an article for the "House of 1000 Manga" about Uzumaki and referenced the song. I'll send you the link.

  • @retroSLEDGE i said u got that nigga that shit aint rare niggy

  • @DEXAtrip Sorry old horse, can't understand a word.

  • Sublime The one and only tune I bought on I-tunes. Much TMBG love. Oh and this song is about life and the many pitfalls and distractions there in.

  • ummm.... how is this rare?

  • I think this song is about hype.

  • @mikek2k6 it seems like it's about a spiraling, uncontrollable obsession that makes you go crazy over time and ruins whatever you had in life.

  • This song is about the Elder One's Plateau in the Mountains of Madness

  • Psh. This song is clearly about Tv Tropes.

  • I like to think, that rather than the song being about drugs, It is about some evil villain's mind control device!

  • This song is about LSD

  • This song is so rare it's on the Factory Showroom LP.

  • the alarm sound at 3:05 always makes me jump a little XD especially with headphones.

  • You didn't have to lie. You could've used Rocket Ship. THAT would be a rare version of Spiraling Shape.

  • Giddyupnetwork. com has Balcom in the middle 24/7, Sadly only 1 season. WTF is up with the DVD collection? Only 1 season for sale.

  • MALCOLM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Poor porsche

  • I love malcolm (in the middle) FOR EVER

    j adorerais malcolm pour toujours

  • I didn't know TMBG's music was all throughout Malcom in the Middle. I thought they just did the theme.

    Cool. :D

  • Really good song, heard it on malcolm in the middle :D I can acctually play this song and sing to it on piano!

  • thanks to malcolm in the middle i would probably have never heard this awesome song

  • why is this rare?

its on one of there albums 'factory showroom'

  • VERY rare. hahahaha. TMBG fans....

  • Don't spend the rest of your life wondering... :D

  • Love this album, not sure why this says **rare**...

  • @LadybugGirlShow Probably so that people go "huh?" and click to view the video.

  • It could be about Cantor's infinities...then again, he was batsh** insane too.... ;)

  • How is this rare?

  • its sorta a boring song but i like it im not sure why

  • Very rare? Nothing Amazon or Best Buy online cannot solve.

I actually found my copy when looking to see if there was any TMBG at a local secondhand media outlet.

It's fun to see what stereos or computers are compatible with the CD of the Factory Showroom. My PC won't read it, and my Xbox 360 had a hard time but finally got it going, with the exception of Token Back to Brooklyn. My clock radio can rewind it, which is nice. For everything else, I have They Got Lost.

  • @RIVEXNGLE Maybe my CD isn't scratched then. I only tried it on the PC

  • So bummed, my copy of this is scratched, and I have no idea how it could be.

  • wonder what the songs even about X.x

  • @iLikeRiceXD Drugs, most likely.

  • @magnamerda1 xD

  • How is this song considered "very rare"? Factory Showroom wasn't exactly some bootleg demo or something - it was a major studio LP.

    I feel old.

  • Love this scene in Malcom in the Middle :P

Can't stop watching it, the music fits perfectly into the cart flying off the roof onto the Porsche :D

  • @Firestar1202 yea malcome in the middle is where i remembered the lyrics to this song and i looked it up lol

  • @Firestar1202 i looked for that scene all over the internet and finally found it just to figure out some part of the lyrics i could look for on google... found the song!

  • @Firestar1202 thats what made me find this song <3

  • @Firestar1202 possibly the best moment in the entire series, between that, the time malcolm shows hes a genuis or the last ep. still absolutely fantastic!

  • @Firestar1202 lol i know right

  • @Firestar1202 whats funny is i do the exact same thing and its how i found about this song....

  • @Firestar1202 suck my balls bitch :D

  • It's on the "Brain Candy" Soundtrack. Not sure if it shows up on any other comps of theirs...

  • awsome song

can someone tell me the album this is on

was it on any of their albums or on the mitm compelation cd?

  • Comment removed

  • Whenever I hear the beginning of this song I start laughing because I can only picture that scene from that one Malcolm in the Middle when they are rolling all that thing down the roof with all of the pictures and things in it and the red paint and then Hal pulls in with the Porsche guy and it is just a disaster. Hahahaha that is like my favorite scene from that show ever.

  • i lurves that show

thats why i found this amazing song

  • +1. I just saw this episode today, and I just loved the song.

  • I know right its HILARIOUS das how i found this song

  • Go ahead and wreck your life! :-D

  • That might be good!

  • This isn't rare in the least.

Now, if you posted the demo ("Rocket Ship"), THAT would be rare.

  • MALCOLM IN MIDDLE FTW

  • Indeeeeed

  • totally great episode

  • @GrandIchiban omfg. If you know tmbg only from their unfortunate association with heaving pile of garbage otherwise known as Malcolm in the Middle, please pretend you've never heard them. My nightmare is having to stand next to bunch of fucking mitm fanboys while I'm trying to enjoy one of the greatest, most original bads that has ever existed.

  • @stephiedear Fuck U, Malcom in the middle is the simpsons in real life, the reason why they use such creative music for such an amazing show is how fitting it is, u probably like Glee, or modern family, so u can suck a dick, great song, great show punk

  • @stephiedear and its bands, not bads, they are not bad, they are good, u stupid idiot, thats like people bitching about how the social network brought a lot of people to the song, baby your'e a rich man. good movie Good song. It fit perfectly

  • @TheWolfdata Perhaps you could take a moment to stop being a blithering fucking simpleton and learn how to make an actual point instead of blindly raging like an underage cocksucking pile of shit.

  • @stephiedear who cares where they know them from, all that matters are they are being listened to. Quit posting stupidity like this please.

  • not rare. you're a retard. but this is my favorite song of all time. I have a "don't spend the rest of your life wondering" tattoo around a spiral. it's magical

  • No, it is rare. On Youtube

  • wrong again

there's a search engine for a reason. you type in spiraling shape and you get like 3 or 4 of the recording and a handful of live recording. yeah that's super rare.

  • No, there are very few of them in THIS quality on youtube.

  • that doesn't make the song rare

  • @klimdeeni

That's awesome. I wanna get a tattoo of the state of Montana on my leg, if you know what I mean. ;)

  • yeah it's pretty magical

(With the round part just the way you would expect)

  • this is rare.

    like wigglytuff

  • Man this is so rare.

  • The original song was called "Rocket Ship" and was very similar to this song, but different verses and lyrics!

  • that episode of malcolm came on last night.

  • BTW can anyone tell me what this song is about?

  • thank you thank thank you!

  • one of my favourite songs used on Malcolm in the Middle. they put all their valuables in a cart with a bucket of paint and dropped it on top of a brand new car.

  • thanks for upload!

  • YES YES YES I've been looking for this forever....Thanks so much for uploading!

    TMBG ftw.

  • I first saw this song on Malcolm in the Middle - Smunday, and I`ve been looking all over for it, and now I finally found it....
