great bluegrass sound and harmonies, i was turned on to this group by my brother ray, and i am thankful he did, i cannot get enough, my brother also plays in a bluegrass band and plays left handed (upside down) as the band refers to it, and he has met them at a bluegrass festival. 'continued success to the group, and thanks for keeping bluegrass alive and well.''
Ok. I'm biased, as a proud Band Brat of the Scene.
1) this version drags. Bad. By at least 15 bpm.
2) the pioneers RAN from single mic as soon as multiple mics became practical. Because close mics sound fuller, richer and crisper. What a shame Silver Dollar City can't afford 8 SM-58s.
On the plus side: the best vocal harmonies on this song since Mike left the Scene. Very good vox, guys.
we make many bluegrass festivals, in several states, each year... we have not seen these guys this year... I wonder what states they are playing in...
I wish they would show the younger son playing mandoline.... he is left handed, picks the mandoline "up" instead of down strokes... very good and most unusual.. I really like this group... they are so true to their roots.
Ive listened to this video so many times ive lost count , honestly, this song by these guys has got into my head and I absolutely find it captivating.....If I went to one of their concerts and they sang only this song for two hours non stop I would be a very happy man . In my opinion they have made this song their own , the tempo is perfect, voices perfect, harmonies perfect ,instruments perfect this is the benchmark of how this song should be done it wipes all other versions into obscurity.
That is soooo good . Charlie Louvin once said that he loves harmony so much that one day when he hears something real good he will just explode ..........there are many many fine bluegrass bands doing beautiful harmony and these guys must be in the top echelon but I hope Charlies soul is still in one piece.
I love it! I was there for this show and I loved watching Victor's face everytime that train whistle would blow. I feel sorry for the engineer if these boys get ahold of him after the show.

They look like they just parked their tractor outside, and sing like 30 years of hard livin' and broken hearts.
