That Bell X1 and Later X-15 series were some extrodinary air craft. As I recall that X-15 flew on the fringe of Space, the pilot being the first in a non vertical launch vehicle to go into space for a short time wonder what kind of stuff those fellas are flying today considering what was done then...pretty neat I supose.
