@guaseli ...oh yes! Incredible songsmiths! So many rich melodies..I can't pick a favourite. Never saw them live with the classic line up with the Gould brothers though :-( I did get to see them in 1992 with Allan Holdsworth, just about the time Gary Husband joined on kit. I tried to get Mark King tickets for the Olympia Bass Day last month but they were all gone by the time I got there! He's a very cool dude.
@guaseli for all who may be interested, if you go to isohunt, you can easily find the remastered 'Running In The Family' album. I downloaded it last night...has the full 6 minute version of Freedom Someday as a bonus track. Can't get this album on iTunes for soem reason..neither Forever Now, which isa shame.Freedom Someday is a real humdinger of a song. Amazing. Tried to find Mike Lindup's The Spirit Is Free. No luck :-(
I remember when this song came out CD's were still a new concept and I did not have a player. Needless to say I bought the Album and this song was not on it. The only way to purchase it was to by the 12 inch single. There is not one song I've heard about "Freedom" that I haven't liked and for the record this song is right up there with "Freedom" by Jimi Hendrix! It's lyrics are just simply poignant, Mark uses a Jazz shuffle on Bass with a funky flare that without the words can hold it's own.
I wish the full version is uploaded soon. I agree. This is a little known, but excellent song. Everything about it works. The lyrics are in such contrast to the melody. A very strong message mixed in with an uplifting, and catchy melody.
Freedom Someday is arguably one of Level 42's finest songs amongst so many great ones. I think about this song whenever I think about Iraq and how my country has no business being there, bringing such needless suffering upon other people. Wars are senseless and Level 42 is right on!
@patriotnamvet Yes Level 42 one of the most underated bands of the 80`s if only more people would just stop and listening to their tunes and lyrics in more detail. This tune is a Treasure, i love pumping up the bass and volume to this tune takes me to a safe place....
beautiful song for level 42!

This is my favorite part of the song, so this little bit doesn't bother me at all.

I was stationed in the UK 84-88. Whenever I want to go back, I pop in one of my Level 42 discs and teleport back...
