Porsche built the Boxster to commemorate the old 550 spyder, not to offer a cheaper alternative to the 911.

i saw this in all black including rims near where i live. looks amazing in real life! most of us will never be able to own a 911 and the boxster is affordable enough to give us the experience of playing with this toy because that's what it is - a toy! have fun! :D

@lmc4lif , I purchased my 2002 Boxster S for $17000 w/40k miles. I have owned the car for a year and absolutely love it. Very quick car and build quality is great. I would recommend the Bose audio system.

@kirkpatrickdavid I would say dont buy a car with too low of miles. Many people pick up 10 yr old Porsche's with 20,000 miles and end up having SO MUCH trouble cause everything dries out. The car is meant to be driven. I have had a few small issues with the car and it is expensive to get it worked on at the Stealership. I have done all the repairs myself and only spent about $200 in maintenance for the first year.

@ITGuyNetworks Thanks for the advice. Mine is on 46k and runs beutifully but I want to get it serviced etc to give me a piece of mind as I'm also quite worried about the IMS failure issue. I live in the UK and a Major Service carried out by Porsche costs £600 (900$)!

A Boxster handles better than a 911 because it has the engine in the middle rather then at the back . What's the point of a 911 then?
