I wonder if JB, had some sort of falling out with Eric Czar. The only thing that I have ascertained from interviews, is that JB's producer/manager, wanted musicians around him that were willing to let Joe be the star. Makes little sense to me...maybe there was personal friction between he and Czar.
I have followed Joe for about 4 years now (longer than most brits I suspect) and although I think he is playing better than ever I have to agree with most people who say this is the best rythm section ever. Eric Czar is a unique talent.
Ahh,JB's original band.By far the best rythm section he's ever played with.Too bad he dumped them because those two guys certainly propelled his career into stardom.Imagine if Jimi dumped Mitch and Noel or Stevie dumped the Double Trouble?Or,even better, imagine if Jimmy Page dumped Bonzo and John Paul Jones? That would have been a crime.Yeah,I think Joe's committed a crime.
@KorbinX Sorry,I ment the Czar/Kramme rythm section lineup. That was his great LIVE band. And it sounded awesome,in a JH Experience sort of way.Compare that band with the band that played 'Live At the Royal Albert Hall'.That was a great night for Joe's career,BUT the band sounded so lame and flat I had the impression the Albert was way too big a venue for Joe and the guys.
@komimakojaketu My thoughts are that this band had gone from very good to great by the time this cd was made. They were just peaking. It is to some of us the best live album down by anyone, anywhere, including Yes, the Who, Cream, Hendrix, Allman Bros, Zep, and whoever else made a great live recording. I don't think Joe knows it yet, and the music world is still discovering this. This line-up deserves an encore.
@komimakojaketu Hendrix DID fire the Experience. Are you just making a joke or are you really that daft? Band Of Gypsys? Remember them? Experience was gone by the time Woodstock happened. And it wasn't a crime - Noel Redding never stopped whining about having to play bass in that band.
@beauhall Yeah, but Jimi very soon realized that Mitch Mitchell was too hard to replace, even the great Buddy Miles couldn't fill Mitchell's shoes.I'm quite confident Jimi's music wouldn't have sounded the same if Mitch Mitchell's drumming wasn't a crucial part of the equation. As far as Noel Redding is concerned-don't kid yourself, his contribution was also huge.I was lucky to see him play live with Randy Hansen at Jim Dunlop's booth in Frankfurt years ago.Guess what?Jimi's music sounded AUTHENTIC!
@adaptiveagile that's how it works with JB...a year ago I had no idea who he was and now I'm searching for the local chapter of Bonaholics Annoymous... well not really I don't wanna be cured! :)
@kitjank That's such a great way of putting it. Also check out Czar-Annon. Eric Czar has some incredible solo work on Youtube with a specially made bass/guitar clone. Honestly, some of his work rises to masterpiece level. The reality is that you have to of the most gifted players in the world, and the drummer's no slouch either.
First of all i always prefer Yes with Jon in voice, and Tormato was a extraordinary albun, songs like Madrigal, Arriving and the brilliant On the silents...
@bigua1428 While i agree with your sentiment, Drama is among my favourite Yes albums because it had a certain amount more energy in bits of it, This is coming from someone more into the Dream Theater side of prog though, maybe i'm just more attracted to the slightly darker feel. Certainly would love to see classic line-up back together though, i want to see Wakeman playing a moog in the flesh!
Wow...Eric Czar is AWESOME !!
