  • Love this. Swahili is so beautiful, so lyrical, so warm, so amusing. It's absolutely my favourite language. And let's not forget its great antiquity, and its origins among many ancient peoples. This way of teaching is superb, & enjoyable too!

  • @speakswahilidammit :-) Thanks for your comments and support. I see your icon/photo has Tanzanian & British flags.

  • @kulmansam Yes, it's true. It is from the cover of my kitabu, called 'speak Swahili, Dammit!', which is becoming a best-selling book in the UK & the USA. I will be using proceeds to assist, with Beda Biswalo, editor of the CITIZEN / MWANANCHI newspaper group in Dar es Salaam, to build a great new free-school for educationally disadvantaged children at Bagomoyo. We have already have land there, & TZ government registration for our 'Not-For-Profit' company, EDIT. (see page on Facebook)

  • My amazing social studies teacher showed this to my class and now she is regretting it >:D

  • @TheAnnaBanda :-) LOL hehehe.. catchy huh? I hope y'all had fun

  • I could've guessed hakuna matata is swahili (although i never really thought about it) but that it means 'no problem' is kinda funny :)

    Nice video, thx

  • I never knew "Hakuna matata" was Swahili. :D

  • @killergophers :-) it sure is!

And so is "nakupenda pa, nakutaka pia, mpenziwe" phrase in Michael Jackson's song "Liberian Girl"

  • This is the best thing I've heard in 2012.

  • @Coreyrob26 :-) Why thanks.. this is a cool song. Once you hear it, all versions are great and it sticks to mind.

  • @Coreyrob26 :-) Why thanks.. this is a cool song. Once you hear it, all versions are great and it sticks to mind.

  • @sbbb04 :-) Muchas Gracias Amigo. Y' a usted 'denada'. Yo creoque todo somos hermanos! jajaja

    Did I get everything right?

  • This has helped me so much... Who would of thought that learning through song would work so well and be so much fun! :)

  • walking around in Hamburg, Germany, today I saw a wall with foreign words written all over it with lots of hearts drawed next to them. It caught my attention, took a photo of it and at home I put the words into google. I found out that they were lyrics to this great song. :)

  • @ladyHSV :-) Interesting and amazing to hear

  • @ladyHSV Excellent. Where in hamburg?

  • @Bushcamper4Sale right at the water front of the river Elbe.

  • @ladyHSV :-) cool! I'll have to make a note of that. I'll tell my cousin too, maybe he could take a photo for me! thanks

  • This is WONDERFUL...I am LOVING all of your videos and will start to show them to my students!!! thank you!

  • @elissa823 :-) wow, thanks! Thats an honor for me!

  • When i was young on holidays over in kenya in 2005 all the people were singing and dancing to this great times :)

  • @CocoaBird85 :-) Cool! Good to know. I was wondering where they allow children to sing other language. There are plenty of nice songs. I just need time translate and post.

  • jambo, langu ni devon, najoribo kusoma kiswahili, habari gani?

  • @Reptileden98 : Devon, nimefurahi kuku jua (I am happy to know you), usichoke kujaribu (do not get tired of trying). Habari ni nzuri sana!

  • I have a question...what is the difference between Habari gani and Habari yako? is it more or less formal? Thanks for posting the song videos they help a lot! :)

  • @horsecrazyrws :) habari gani = news which = which news? or whats the news? it can also mean which news?

Habari yako = news your = your news, whats up with you?

Habari gani AND habari yako are both used equally! but as you can see, Habari gani can have more implications. So for learning purposes, use habari yako to ask someone about them.

  • eastleigh yetu hakuna matata.

  • Is it "Mzuri sana" or "Nzuri sana"? I thought it was Mzuri? I'm trying to learn some swahili, but I want to know for sure :)

  • @mallejamie depends whether you are speaking to Kenyan or Tanzanian. Kenyan's say 'Mzuri' and Tanzanian's say Nzuri

  • @kulmansam Ow that explains it! Thank you for the explanation!

  • @mallejamie Welcome/Karibu Sana

  • @mallejamie In swahili grammar, nouns are divided into classes. The adjectives such as "-zuri" (fine / good/ /beautifu) take the form of the noun. Example, Habari - Nzuri. But for M-W class of nouns/ People & Animals , we use Mzuri / Wazuri, eg. Mtoto Mzuri / Watoto Wazuri, Dada Mzuri / Dada Wazuri/ Nyangumi Mzuri / Nyangumi Wazuri, Kijana Mzuri / Vijana Wazuri, And for Ki-Vi class of nouns (things only), it takes this form; Kiatu kKzuri / Viatu Vizuri, Kisu Kizuri / Visu Vizuri, etc.

  • LOOL Nice Nzuri
