I had the same experience – got lost on my second solo x-country, as well as my friend did on his first one. Those guy also crashed the plane practicing his short field take-offs, but got just minor injures (plane was written off) and booked his next flight just two(!) days after the accident. When I got lost, I was scared to death and overcome this fear just after getting my PPL, when I bought a good GPS unit.

@kerbao...A military pilot used to be required, and I guess still is required, to have 20/20 vision, but that is just military. Private and commercial civilian pilots can wear glasses just like anyone else. I've noticed a few making fun of Jessica. They should hope that they are just half as smart, competent, able, and successful as she is!! Jessica you can drive on the same roads and fly the same airspace as I do anytime. The Ercoupe doesn't have separate rudder controls - the rudders are linked to the ailerons, so it can be controlled just with the yoke.
