basically U've to draw it on a cadcam program and "punch in a bunch of settings" then U have to prepare the machine:choose tooling according to the program(and experience)set up the tooling, figure out how to fix the material in a fixture, it's both computer and mechanical work, the fIeld hmmm. after china took a big chunk of it , the field is struggling, but if one can think out of the box one can still survive, a programmer makeS $25-35 set up man makes 18-25 and an operator 12-18 Good Luck
I'm curious about this field as a possible career opportunity through a trade program.
Is this a competetive field? What is the pay like and are all the cuts/mills done through a computer? I'm sure it's hard work but it looks like you're not doing much. No offense, just curious.
Do you just punch in a bunch of settings and the machine does all the work for you?
