  • You lost me at 1:18.

  • 7:26, mine isn't any of these, sorry if you dont get this but : it's like the top-left one but the two non yellow spaces are in the bottom-middle and right middle squares. ( yellow squares: top row, left row middle and bottom right corner, two others are on the sides of the non-yellow ones on the top)

  • @kindercollecter2 it doesnt matter

  • @powerbuttin888 yes it does

  • fuck yea!!!! I just solved my first cube!!!!!

  • i cant see anything at the beggining

  • ya you kinda need to click off annotations

  • Message for the maker of this video. There is a simple move (algorithm if you would call it) to place the white-whatever squares where you want it. For example..If I wanted to place a red/white square in the correct place but the red square is where the white should be. In this case I should perform a L and then move the first two sections towards me one time and then move them up. After that the white/red will have the red facing on top. Then it's simply turn the cube so that it matches.

  • And for those that say that you move too fast: He has the algorithms written up above and even below on the new version so yall need you utilize the pause button like I did. The new version is so basic a retard could solve a rubik's cube. I hate to see a valiant effort go to waste. I understood it. So if anybody didn't understand it then u are too retarded to solve a rubik's cube. Point and simple.

  • I just want to say that I really liked your vids..the old and new versions. I didn't see you as cocky in either by the way. But I really enjoyed that you actually moved slow enough for me to understand the algorithms. I'm not a math whiz but I would like to come off as one every once in a little while. And the rubik's cube is the best way. I thoroughly understand how to solve this puzzle now and I thank you for showing me the answer to one of man's greatest mysteries.

  • hopefully this question haven´t been asked yet..

my problem is when i have done my white cross and edges, and i turn the cube upside down, i havent´s this upside down "T" on every side, if you know what i mean...is that normal or is something wrong with my cube ?^^

  • no. its a common beginner's mistake and I will make sure to address it much more explicitly in my upcoming remake of these videos. You are simply placing the corners into wrong positions, in between wrong centers. There is for example a WHITE-RED-GREEN edge. You must place it ABOVE where it has to go before you apply the algorithms. THe place it has to go is between REd and GREEN center. Remember that every corner has a unique location where it has to end up in... SIGH hard to explain

  • ummm, it messed up

  • Hi thanks for your good tutorial :D

I solved my cube couple times then it broked :S But 5 stars for this tutorial.

  • I have a problem my center yellow isin blue center :S

  • the first part was easy but now this is just way too complicated...i dont get it at all....

  • hi i know a shorter algo for f2l :

Hold the fixing edge on the front and if it mus go to the right use this algo:

    U R Ui Ri Ui FI U F

    and for the left:

    UI LI U L U F UI FI

  • ummm.....this makes absolutely no sense at all ... he tlks too quickly and doesn't explain it very well at all!

  • I went from having never held a cube, to being able to solve it in 40 sec in about 2 months, using ONLY mephisto's videos. He explains things quite well. That isn't to say that you can watch each video once and become a master. It takes practice and a good memory to get good at it but I assure you this method works for even those who have never even seen a rubik's cube. If this tutorial doesn't help you, I don't see how another could, this is as simple as it gets.

  • owned! memyselfandpi taught me in 2 days how to solve it and now i can do it in 34 seconds loser

  • I could easily say I can solve it in 2.5 seconds but without any proof it's an internet anonymity ridiculous claim. Prove it or stop talking.

  • So watch it again, these videos are very simple.

  • ok i am having trouble with the algorithms the front to back one evry time i do it i mess up

  • 8:45

    r2d2 lol

  • ....when i orient the yellow corners, one isnt oriented corectly... help?

  • cube is unsolvable. disassemble and put back solved

  • @badmephisto wrong. see memyselfandpi's tutorial on how to flip a corner

  • @Robolawrence23 on my cube I can just twist the corner without take the cube apart, its mean.

  • once i remember the algorithms, w/e best guide i've seen

  • whats the difference in cases 6 and 7?

  • thanks heaps so much easier to remember...

  • it is so frustrating and hard to follow

  • wtf is an edge?!?!?!?

is it middle and next to it?

or the thingy with 3 sides?

  • edges have 2 stickers on them

    corners have 3 stickers

    centers have 1 sticker

  • this is hard lol

  • im able to solve the cube..but someone whos new in solving the cube doesnt want s to learn all these algs...FOR BEGINNERS: watch dan brown vid...then may watch this ..btw i love your other vids!!!

  • I've never solved the cube before, but after this video I can solve it easy. So it really helped me even tho I'm new.

  • i might be wrong, but to me this is too hard for beginners.

    --> too many algs.

learn the "normal" beginners method than this. in my opinion usefull.

im not against any of his vid's..they are amazing.!

  • I agree does I can see that it was an attempt to guide someone to fridrich and for intermediate+ theres none better than mephisto but for an LBL this is pretty complicated

  • i think ill end up remaking the 3 beginners method vids. i can do better...

this is THE LBL method to use, and no its not overly complicated. Nothing is if it is presented right

  • maybe an intermediate to 2look pll but i must disagree there are way too many algs to remember for those wanting just to know how to solve it, for those hoping to get into speedcubing fair enough but not for someone who just wants to be ble to solve it.

  • is to many formula

  • No formula in Second and first layer

  • I don't get it when you say that all of the edges are oriented, but there are still two that aren't on the yellow side of the cube. What is the quickest way to get the cube so the yellow side is full?

  • My corners won't get solved and it's ticking me off. Help please. :(

  • my nephew fucked up all my stickers... lol

  • Fish and fishes are both correct purl versions of fish. Oo I don't know why I felt the need to comment on that....

  • fish is singular and plural dont say fishes

  • o gawd shut up!!!! this aint skool

  • no really fish is the same word for both much like moose its not mooses or deer it isn't deers and also with scissors or offspring or aircraft or you or species (all of those it is the same word for singular and plural ) roflmao id kick all your asses on scrabble id have triple word scores all over the board lol

  • Nice I thought the scrabble part was funny. ^_^

  • i try :)

  • Excellent videos, all 3 of them! I learnt it in a day- now i want to become a speedcuber !8-)

    Thanks a lot! :)

  • what were the 2 decent videos

  • ya man i cant read the formulas right so i was trying to watched your moves but you are going to fast go slower please

  • you will have to learn the notation... sooner or later

  • pause it while its going

  • hmmm, i got thet first part right with the cross then did the corners puttin them in the right place between colours, but im confused with the second row :S

  • I actually do get it now X) this is good, but im not stuck on the very last bit :S i keep ending up with a cross on the top when im tryin to do the yellow

  • how many cubes do u have??

  • i get my white all done but the sides arent the same each side has the two outer colors the same but middle square a different color waht do i do?

  • you're doing it wrong. you are putting for example blue wihite edge in bgetween the white and orange center or something. Every edge is made of 2 stickers, and they tell you in between what centers that cube has to go to. You did the cross wrong

  • i did everything u told me and it work thnx dude.... but when i did the last part i finish my cube and didnt even had to go to the 3 part of the video

  • Comment removed

  • what is shoot it to front/back?!?!

  • this totally worked for me! thnx!!

  • plz can you translate to geordie :)

  • r2 d2 LOL

  • Why dont i have those t-shaped bits? I followed your previous vid and got all the whites but the rest of my cube looks completely different!

  • i got white sloved 6 green, 6 orange,6 blue, 6 red on bottom but a yellow backwords L facing red 3 yellow down very bottom left is yellow so what i do?

  • is camera on your head? -.-

  • Comment removed

  • whoooo thanks to u I solved it but u still go too fast lol!

  • Man you went too fast and I meast it up right near the end!

  • i can solve rubiks in 40 sec^^

  • What are "F" "R" "U" etc. mean. I don't understand

  • umm, sorry to be mean but DUUUH. You are watching part 2/3. Has it not occurred to you that Part1 may have contained some information that is necessary to understand part 2?

  • simply stating watch part 1/3 would eliminate the apology and the insult.

  • It`s not an insult , it`s a cold slap of in the face from logic. We have enough retards on this world and we don`t need more ppl who can even read a simple title stating 2/3 and NOT figure they`re watching the wrong vid to start with.

  • F is front clock wise same with the letters

F' stands for fron counter same with the other sides meaning U is up R is right

  • This one has more memorization than other methods but once you know it all its a lot faster (way faster than Dan Browns solve)

  • I had my rubiks cube for a day, i watched some of your vids + another video, and now i can do it easily. When i compared vids the other Video had some easier algorhythms. Why is that?

  • they are a little easier, but this way will make it easier to get better. you will thank me later.

  • Question. When orienting the the edges of the top layer, why do you use different algorhythms? ([F U R U' R' F'] & [F R U R' U' F'])

You can use either algorhythm for both cases, (I use the one starting with R instead of U). Why teach 2 seperate algorhythms when 1 works for both cases?

  • I know. I wanted to stay consistent with the HTML tutorial from Joel, which is linked from the video description. But NOBODY knows about it because nobody reads it! UGH!

  • this is because when speedcubing... each case serves its own purpose and generally only requires the one algorithm... by repeating just one case as you state it will be much less time efficient and result in slower times

  • i really appreciate your videos but you go a little too fast when you are doing the algerisms (idk what its called) but im not hating or anything, your videos have really helped me!

  • i have to go a little fast to keep the video short. The algorithms are THERE, in notation. Just perform them! I dont expect you to mirror what I'm doing in real time. Thats not the point of the video.

  • the x R2 D2 part i mean

  • hey i love your vids man, it has helped me alot

but i still dont understand how to position the last layer thingy after many tries.

  • you go way to fast goddammit

  • never mind my bad :S

  • i had the first layer fin and you made me ruin it

  • you skipped a part how to get a piece of the tail of the fish

  • dude it took me a few times but finnally got it man your a life saver.

  • i dont get how you insert the second layer

  • Its 28 years since I completed my first cube, Thanks - a Policeman from England.

  • maybe if you guys didnt go so frickin fast people could catch on

  • Uh. I can get one side one solid color. But then the rest of my cube is random, and I can't get the first two layers even started.

  • wow you went too fast on the spinning parts..

meh i messed it up again wahtever i give up

  • the spinning parts? :D Dont give up! Check the HTML version of this tutorial. I link to it from video description. That will clear things up.

  • i can finally do it, tough it takes a whiileee. i will check some of your vids to see if i can do it faster.

  • Don't give up just keep trying, you'll get it.

  • hey retard it says 2/3 so go watch the first vid holy shit ur dumb

  • yo calm down i finally got it and there was a mistake in ure other vid thats why i was doing it wrong so there holy shit !

  • umm u were yelling at the guy because u made a stupid mistake...if anyone needs to calm down its you

  • his method is someparts is wrong okay i had to put at least 3 vids together to get the proper solution ok so get lost!

  • and yeah ure the retard ashole! go fuk off!

  • I was unable to orient the top part..I'm always left with a different color in one corner..

  • EVERY TIME?

If so, you need to take your cube a part and put it together solved to make sure your pieces are right.

If that's not the case, do the first two layers, build your cross on top, and tell what OLL you have.

  • i accidently solved the cube in about 40 secs. with using F2L, and i never learned that method, i did once, but forgot. that was so weird!

  • you own man this is very simple with your good guide pogobats was to fast and confusing for second layer

  • omg how loped is ur cube!!!

  • what?

  • :( now i broke my cube cuz i was evil...

umm xD i'm sorry for my bad english...

  • >:[ i cant "roll" my cube so fast... it remains stuck :(

  • how do you make a rubiks cube???

    ^_^

    hehehehe

  • u helped me alot but i think those moves arent for beginners i mean im not a beginnner i can solve one side quick and up to the second layer but i cant do the cross befor so ya thnx for that but i had to pause the vid everytime u do a move and i think i cant memorize it but thnx any ways

  • look - you're just being lazy. I did not teach notation for nothing. I GIVE the moves, it is your job to understand and memorize them, thats the way it works, and thats the way that EVERYONE did it. There is no easy simple shortcut. If you can't do it then you will not be able to solve the cube... its as simple as that.

  • also note that there is an HTML version of this tutorial and I link to it from video description. Go there, print that page out, learn the algs at your leisure.

  • retards, fridrich's is faster, u can average in the teens, this guys average is about 17 secs!

  • 5:28 - 5:33 XD!!!

  • pogobat's method is way easier ... duh!

  • You help me a lot man thank you

and God Bless you badmephisto +)

  • pogobat's better :P

  • i agreed, and he didn't talk a lot.

  • no wait, i mastered the pogobat and the pogobat faster, this is so much easier for the second layer at least

  • Pogobat/Dan Brown does do a great job in his tutorial, it's how I learn. This tutorial however helps prepare you for getting into advanced methods for faster times. That, and this method alone is faster than Dan Brown's. :P

    Still, both tutorials are good.

  • this is too complicated.I still think pogobat's video tutorial is much easier.

  • His explanation for the last layer is a tiny bit confusing, but it is worth watching it a few times to understand it. It's a lot faster and it's easier to switch to Fridrich last layer so definetly go with this if you are serious about cubing.

  • and fast XD

  • oh nvm

  • On my cube looks like gyy

    G=Green Y=yellow oyy

    O=Orange R=red  yrg

from the top, How do you solve it from there or at least get to the fish pattern?

  • nvm my bad i did it wrong :P

  • what happens if its not one of the 7 cases? it happened to me twice l ol

  • I am having a problem with my cube. When trying to solve the second layer, I sometimes encounter a situation in which one of the edges I am trying to shoot is messed up.

An example would be when I am trying to finish the second layer, but my edge to shoot is neither in the position already, as described in you video, but it is neither on the third level in the correct form.

Sorry if I suck at explaining, but ya...is there an algorithm to solve this situation?

  • well... i guess the edge must then be in the second layer then, but in the wrong position? Just "shoot" a random edge from the top layer to that position, and it will "pop" it out to the top, then put it where it actually belongs to.

  • I probably didn's explain my problem well enouigh. The solution you're describing is the one in your video, right?

Well, my situation is that the edge is not in the second layer, but on the third layer. However, no edges "match" up.

Say, the white side is on top, blue is on the front and orange is on the right. The edge that I'm trying to find is the blue - orange edge. However, the specific ORANGE piece I'm looking for is not in the third layer, but on top, with the other white pieces.

  • well... how did it get there?! You made your cross already and the entire white layer is completed. Why is white on top? White is supposed to be on bottom now that you have finished the cross, on yellow should be on top.

It sounds like you didn't make a cross or something. This is part 2/3, you DO know that before this comes the part 1/3 and stuff.

  • Another misunderstanding on my pary. Sorry.

The example I gave didn't necessarily mean that I was using the white part as my cross. The white part was only the top side of the cube.

  • When you tell us the algorithms to get two edges of the cross at the same time... is there a way of just getting one? because i always have three edges completed and one incomplete.

im desperatly desperate to figure this out!!!!

  • yea thats impossible. You are doing something wrong or you cube is not correctly assembled. that can happen if u take it apart and put it back together in wrong way

  • Yeah, my cube is not a genuine Rubiks cube. I bought it dirt cheap. Could this be why?

I cant for the life of me solve it, no matter what solution i use.

  • mine is the same, i have looked at this gys cube and the colour layout is different than mine. i have tried heaps of other tutorials and cant get it. i do have the instructions that came with the cube on how to solve it thou they might as well be written in chinese because they make no sence. if i figure out how to solve the dodgy cube i will post a vid

  • remains must be the truth, there is an entire article im writing comparing and contrasting the two which will be posted soon

  • i first want to say thank you. i bought the cube thinking i could figure it out, but i did have problems and you helped me. so if you see or read this i would certainly follow his advice. but after solving again and again i began to study the different methods, and these methods led me to OLL and PLL. which of course i enjoy, but my real enjoyment is 20th century literature which of course im studying. And from the mouth Sherlock Holmes himself ond you eliminate the impossible whatever

  • your great dude....thanx

  • hey i need help how do you get your cube to move so fast please help me lol nice videos btw cya.

  • Turn the top face 45° and pull out the side-middle cube, slip come vaselline in there with your finger. Re-assemble and repeat it on the remaining 3 sides. Then your cube will fly!

  • thancks dude your vids are really good and are easy to uderstand!

Another guy in a vid said "you can not finish the cube not every one can do it"but now my cube is finished all thanks to you.Thank you very much.

  • Thanks for putting it easy to understand terms, i have worked on this stupid thing since the mid-eighty's! (never getting further than the 2nd layer) i refused to read any books on how to solve, but this is perfect for the beginner!

    God Bless!

  • Ignore my last comment =P i figured it out.

  • Okay so I've followed your method and I've went on websites where they explain how to do it with writing and pictures but after I finish the first two layers, the yellow side is missing a yellow corner so it's just the two crossing lines. can you help me figure out what I've done wrong?

  • Really appreciate the videos.

For the sake of completion, in the interest of those who will follow, I will highlight that the orientation of the cube is unclear for the 5 positions mentioned at 7:26. Are the pictorial representations of face F or face U?

I stumbled on that a few times.

    Best,

    wirefree

  • well at 7:00 i show one of them, the chameleon, and I show that you have to hold them with the pattern on U face.

  • gah i feel like crying. spent hours working on this completely determined and i got all the way up to that stupid step with the rotations and completely jumbled the thing. great direction... not really

  • At 7:32 what do u mean by "apply the first method"?

  • well i show you two fish pattern cases. I labeled them #1 and #2. In any of those cases I show there, just hold it like show on picture, and apply the first case fish pattern (R' U2 R U R' U R).

  • ok thank u!!!!!!!!! =]

  • on the last layer i keep on coming up with 4 matching corner pairs? when i do the corner algorithm it solves 1 side but undoes the other 3 pairs? what do i do?

  • no i go over this: when you have 4 matching corners then you dont even need to do that step, you are automatically done. Just do U turns until you see that all your corners are actually solved. Proceed to last stage, and do the edges and you are done.

  • this was the ONLY METHOD that worked!!! =]

  • they all work, you probably just understood this one better. thanks :)

  • Thank you so much for this. I've been stuck for 5 hours, but because of you I've finally made it to the last layer! THANK YOU! :D

  • Can you tell me what movie editor you use that you can put pics of cubes on the screen at the same time ur on the screen?

  • i use sony vegas 7.0

but any good editor will let you do that... probably even movie maker that comes bundled with xp.

  • I like your first two vids, they ruled! <3

  • hey, dude, i woulds say your preety talented, i like how you made the speed cube videos, you know that key hole thing, yeah, but for beginers i would recomend dan browns methods, or atleast for the first and last layers, your second layer algorithym's are probably easier but the rest i would reccomend dan brown, anyway your preety good, and yeah, keep it up

  • dan browns method is little easier to learn in last layer thing, as he does the corner orientation using the commutator in the end. The biggest advantage to my method I think is that it will easily allow anyone to transition to Fridrich method. The people that learned from Dan will have to re-learn stuff, but you will only be adding to your pre-existing knowledge.

  • ty!

  • oh okay, i will try it and i will let u know if i still canty get the top solved

  • how would i know if its put together right i took the corners out and lubed it up

  • yes, its probably put together wrong :D

take it apart, and put it back in, but put it back in the right way, solved.

  • idk what im doin but when ever ur supposed to have the top solved i have one cormer that is never solved for some reason

  • if all top is solved except for a single corner, then your cube is assembled wrong, that cant happen... make sure its put together right.

  • after i can really solve the cube properly i switch completely to ur method before starting on Fridrich method...

  • wat do u think about dan brown's method cause im currently using his method but everytime i can't solve the last face of the cube...
