You're simplifying it. For starters, there isn't 1 singular public school system here. There are 1000's of public systems, which vary in quality from locale to locale, state to state, etc.; some better, some worse. In many cases you'll find systems that are splendid. A lot of it often (not always) has to do with the quality of the tax base in the area around a particular school, or how much population density around it, etc. And most of us *aren't religious either.
I'm pretty sure that they went and found all the white trash and stupid people in our country for this. If you asked anyone that I know any of these questions, they would have answered correctly. You're simplifying it. For starters, there isn't 1 singular public school system here. There are 1000's of public systems, which vary in quality from locale to locale, state to state, etc.; some better, some worse. In many cases you'll find systems that are splendid. A lot of it often (not always) has to do with the quality of the tax base in the area around a particular school, or how much population density around it, etc. And most of us *aren't religious either.

Actually it's the largest immigration center because it's very easy to get accepted for citizenship in the USA, and it's a country with large landmass so overcrowding isn't as much of an issue as with European countries. Many of the immigrants I've known and talked with where I live (in Canada) say they would much rather live here any day than live in the USA
