while i don't smoke, i still wanna know why the commercials always say "tobacco companies  lie". i have yet to see a tobaco ad on tv, on a bill board, or anywhere other than ADULT magazines.

and lies? well, here's a fact: the title of this video is a lie, since never in the comercial did they say "Candy Cigarettes".

basically what they said was "tobacco companies lie! my mom died from tobacco lies" (note he wasn't sounding very sad) "so agree with us that tobacco companies lie!"

this is an old ad, in the olden days tobacco ads were everywhere. only in the last 5 to 10 years or so have the ad disappeared from every day life.

fair enough point, but still. fighting lies with lies? if the commercial really was about candy cigarates, why call the commercial candy cigarates. and while i'm at it, if this commercial was even about kids smoking, why was the only person who died from smoking an adult? if she had been smoking as a kid, i doubt she would have lived long enough to have a health child. odds are that she started smoking after she had children.

so do the cigarette companies lie? or do anti-smokers lie more?

i think candy cigarets is a metaphor for kids talking about cigarets or the companies using candy cigarets to get young people started, whatever

if you want to look deeper, or have a mind explosion every anti-smoking add is financed by the big tobacco. why would any company trying to make money? i dont know if the were forced to by the government or they really dont care. it is a very addictive product and it will sell ..

Oh for Christ sake leave the tobacco companies alone! They never do anything for kids. This commercial is fake. They probably took the black kid and made him say it was tobacco that killed his mother so that they can make people against smoking when it was all made up.

If you want to get people to stop smoking tell them about how much money smoking costs or how they won't be able to run for more than 5 seconds without hacking up a lung. Nobody cares if the tobacco companies lied in some report they gave because anti-smoking groups harassed them. If a cigarette company was allowed to make a tv commercial they wouldn't try to tell you how pathetic anti-smoking groups are to entice you to but their product, they would focus on what they want to sell.

This commercial is everywhere, and its ridiculous.

All you guys complain about how tobacco lies and how cigarettes are dangerous. They are dangerous, I wont deny that, but there are so many laws restricting the use of cigarette ads. I have never heard anything that would ever lead me to believe that they are healthy and cool.
