  • TOP GEAR FTW!!! 5TH GEAR SUCKS!!

  • this is going to be the first car after i go to and graduate from college. but i'm waiting to get the first long term job first...

  • 2:47 there filming from an ///M5

  • AWESOME T-SHIRT

  • It's ugly, I'd rather buy another kind of car than Switching from a Normal Mini to this one, It's not a nice upgrade design like a Porsche 911 to a Panamera, It's like from a 911 to a Chinese Replica Hummer Truck

  • l have had a clubman cooper d for a month...l love it

  • if it were cheaper it could be great sporty family/work car

  • i dont see how this spoilt its its just another varient. but going by the price its not the same car as the one it imitates

  • I don't get how start/stop improves gasmilage and emissions...

Isn't the moment you START the engine the moment when it uses most and 'emisses' most?

  • The engine is started by the starter motor, which is powered by the battery. The battery gets recharged by the alternator when the engine is running. I guess if you'll be startng and stopping the engine frequently, you should watch how any devices you're running off the battery.

As far as gas, I'm sure it decreases the usage versus idling at 750RPM for 30 seconds at a time because you only need a few explosions to get the engine turning over without needing the starter motor.

  • I see.

    Thanks for your wisdom :)

  • I thought that aswell

  • when you restart the engine, the engine is working at its optimal temperature, so it wont harm the emission.

  • @DutchManticore This is true, the start/stop thingy is pointless

The enine has to use alot more energy to get it back up to idle from zero.

If the engine never was shut down, it would only need a smaller amount of fuel to keep it at 700 RPM consistantly for a minute.

Plus, stopping/restarting puts ALOT more wear on the engine. I'm going to shut up and stop ranting now XD
