This car has the worst shifter of all time..it does not go full up or down,,if u put it in park and pull it down slowly it will go to Reverse...if u pull it hard it will go to drive...It is always confusing and takes a lot of time to get used to.
..I admit the V8 is smooth and the car rides softly but it does NOT compare to the S-Class.

However Audi today has the best quality fabrics and interior of all. Also stated by Topgear and other major Car media. Where Audi has advanced Mercedes has gone the opposite. I own an Audi A8 and my friend has an S class of the same age. Build, quality and reliability in my case the Audi wins hands down.

I speak from my experience. I have an Uncle in Germany, by the Porsche factory. As we know the Germans and Austrians love to have an E class taxi. No more. They seem to be going to VW / Audi. When these taxi drivers who have been driving mercs for 20 years go away. Something is wrong!
The reliability part is very hard to believe(spoken with many Audi owners) but as far as the interior quality is concerned, i would have to agree. And yes Merc is definitely not what it used to be. Mercs used to be built like tanks. Now you have to replace a sensor of some kind just about every year. But truthfully, i believe there is no such thing as a reliable German car. That is where the Japanese dominate.

You can take two identical cars, however one has 10 problems a month and the other none. as for reliable German cars. They aren't bad but I find a problem is that they are all to over powered and with so much strain, they have to break somewhere sooner or later. Only way is to drive like a grandad. My colleague has an RS6 MTM tuned 700 bhp, will not floor it completely. Worried about breaking it.

Everything is chevrolet quality plastic (down to the steering wheel), and everything rattles. I also got much better gas mileage and a faster 0-60 time. You are living in the 1980s if you sincerely think Audi is behind Mercedes.

@miamikid2 I test drove 2 different C Class Mercedes Benz, a 2008 and a 2009 (US models, ours have standard cupholders, woot! heheh). I may be exaggerating when I say chevrolet quality, but the interior is much less tactile than the BMW 3 series and Audi A4 competition. Also, I will admit the A4 has one big problem: the front wheel drive CVT model is a bore! I almost stopped shopping there, but the salesman talked me into trying a quattro tiptronic variant and I was immediately sold.

I'm young and maybe that's why I bought an Audi A4... also the Mercedes C Class (2008-present) shocked me with the amount of cheap rattling plastic in the passenger cabin. Everything in the A4 was either covered in leather or rubbery soft to touch stuff. Also the A4 consumes less gas while accelerating just as quickly. Don't get me wrong, they're both superb cars and it was a hard choice., but the details made me go with the Audi.

This car has the worst shifter of all time..it does not go full up or down,,if u put it in park and pull it down slowly it will go to Reverse...if u pull it hard it will go to drive...It is always confusing and takes a lot of time to get used to.
..I admit the V8 is smooth and the car rides softly but it does NOT compare to the S-Class.
Mercedes is the king of the road, Audi is just one of the many pretenders.

I was so close to buying and A8 until i saw this commercial. Than i bought s500 Blue ef. white. the same in this commercial. I don't regret making this decision and Merc has always been a wonderful car.

20-25 years ago if you tried to compare a junk audi with a BMW or Mercedes you would probably be laughed at. They still produce the same low quality and extremely unreliable cars and think they could compare themselves with legends like the 3 series or the s class. Audi will never be at the same level as a bm or merc.

@TheWestside223 Well i must agree on the comment of 20 - 25 years ago. The breaking point for Audi was the quattro, when they started winning all the rally competitions. However Audi today has the best quality fabrics and interior of all. Also stated by Topgear and other major Car media. Where Audi has advanced Mercedes has gone the opposite. I own an Audi A8 and my friend has an S class of the same age. Build, quality and reliability in my case the Audi wins hands down.

@TheWestside223 The merc has had to have the electric seats replaced twice, engine faults, radiator and various other problems. My Audi apart from a the standard yearly or mileage service. Nothing. I speak from my experience. I have an Uncle in Germany, by the Porsche factory. As we know the Germans and Austrians love to have an E class taxi. No more. They seem to be going to VW / Audi. When these taxi drivers who have been driving mercs for 20 years go away. Something is wrong!

The reliability part is very hard to believe(spoken with many Audi owners) but as far as the interior quality is concerned, i would have to agree. And yes Merc is definitely not what it used to be. Mercs used to be built like tanks. Now you have to replace a sensor of some kind just about every year. But truthfully, i believe there is no such thing as a reliable German car. That is where the Japanese dominate.

You can take two identical cars, however one has 10 problems a month and the other none. as for reliable German cars. They aren't bad but I find a problem is that they are all to over powered and with so much strain, they have to break somewhere sooner or later. Only way is to drive like a grandad. My colleague has an RS6 MTM tuned 700 bhp, will not floor it completely. Worried about breaking it.

@miamikid2 At least when I bought my A4, I paid ~5000 less (for a much better optioned vehicle) and got half as much plastic interior pieces. Have you been in a new C Class? Everything is chevrolet quality plastic (down to the steering wheel), and everything rattles. I also got much better gas mileage and a faster 0-60 time. You are living in the 1980s if you sincerely think Audi is behind Mercedes.

@ineverrememberthese I cannot comment on the handling and speed because i cant drive, but i can say the quality is great and not chevy esque in any form, it also does not rattle as a result. I think the C class is better than the A4, but i also think that the C class is a very barebones car without options and needs money spent to bring it up, i think cupholders are an option...

@miamikid2 I test drove 2 different C Class Mercedes Benz, a 2008 and a 2009 (US models, ours have standard cupholders, woot! heheh). I may be exaggerating when I say chevrolet quality, but the interior is much less tactile than the BMW 3 series and Audi A4 competition. Also, I will admit the A4 has one big problem: the front wheel drive CVT model is a bore! I almost stopped shopping there, but the salesman talked me into trying a quattro tiptronic variant and I was immediately sold.

I'm young and maybe that's why I bought an Audi A4... also the Mercedes C Class (2008-present) shocked me with the amount of cheap rattling plastic in the passenger cabin. Everything in the A4 was either covered in leather or rubbery soft to touch stuff. Also the A4 consumes less gas while accelerating just as quickly. Don't get me wrong, they're both superb cars and it was a hard choice., but the details made me go with the Audi.
