@gordongeekstad It's very similar, it doesn't eliminate the neck pickup, but when you use it, the neck pickup turns off and one of the coils vibrates the string, so you get unlimited sustain. Have a look at the Sustainiac. It's similar, but slightly better, has smaller electronics and has a bit of info on the site.

Matt uses Hugh Manson custom made guitars made in Devon,Exeter in the UK.He’s got a quite good number of Mansons. The first and most famous is his silver Manson. The new ones he’s got right now which he uses some in concerts are the ones with Kaoss pad on the side.

@GabryFender Well on an electric, you do need pickups. And having played the Bareknuckle nailbomb through a few amps, im in love with it. I can understand the Kaoss Pad isnt for everyone, but the sustainer is what every guitar player worth his salt loves - more sustain ! this guitar is designed to do and sound like no other, exactly like Matt Bellamy himself, so in that regard, i personally think its a great success.

@Musicalparaphernalia i never knew but.. the mb-1 goes for £3500 about ! to have custom machine heads it is an extra £300 then a x-y midi pad £250. then to have it in a red glitter colour it is an extra Shit loads of money which barly knowone has xD then is you want an ali top it is £4000 alone xD but a delorean styled guitar costs £3400 i think ... hope i helped , and if you want blueprints for a mb-1 of me ( for a price ) just ask n ill give you a link !

The M1D1 Manson is a guitar that Hugh Manson built for review in Guitarist Magazine. The name was derived from a customer confusing the term "Midi" for "M1D1".

The guitar was damaged when Matt threw it at a strobe light. It was confirmed by Manson's guitar shop that the M1D1 had split in half, and is now in pieces at Hugh's shop. It can be seen on display in Manson's Guitar Shop in Exeter.
