  • When my dad taught me about hockey when I was a kid, he taught me about Saku Koivu. My dad showed me that hockey was a sport to love, to give your heart, and that it's played with your heart not with talent, or cockiness.

Ever since then, my favourite number was 11 and it will always be!

Numero 11 est mon numero preferee et ca sera pour toujours!

  • Koivu did want to stay at Montreal but Gainey did not.

  • Koivu vs Sundin?

  • if he were on the team now for sure we would win the stanley cup.

it's because of stupid overated kovalev that we never came close to winning it yes, he had a great shot but if your to lazy to get back defensivley, you shouldn't even be in the nhl

  • I hope those fuckker fans dont boo him when comes back to mtl....i wanted tickets but they were sold out fast

  • you'll miss his big heart

  • I really miss Saku Koivu!!! D:

I Cried a lot when i watched this video...

If he didn't had cancer we could win vs penguins right??

All I could say He's a nice guy

    Nice video btw!!!

  • too bad hes getting old my fav player ever gladly we have a another one coming up...(Granlund).... might not be the leader saku was/is.

  • I love the draft coverage at the start of the movie. A truly great captain. You are missed Saku

  • Shame on Bob Gainey

  • What a great tribute!

  • Greetings from Finland..we love Saku and Mikko plus Teemu and CANADA..GO Canada GO!...:)

  • i honest to god locked myself in my room all day, and cried when i heard koivu signed with anaheim, Koivu will always be a Hab to me, forever.

I will be there when #11 is raised to the sky!

  • Pour Toujours Le Canadiens made me cry when Koivu was there.. WE MISS YOU! he was the best player on the team for the past 15 years.

  • Saku gave his heart to Montreal.

  • And we gave him language debates... Pathetic town...

  • @dar89ren

    yup

+ he told him to take another road because of this fking jean beliveau jersey on top on bell center DAM im dissapointed

  • Yeah, and i hate ppl who say : He never put his heart on the ice, he doesnt speak french and stuff like that!... Koivu would play each game as if it was his last and wasnt afraid to go in corners! Saku wasnt maybe the one that had the best hockey sense but fuck he would give his heart to it! :D

  • montreal make one of the dummest move even if we dont win the cup saku will always be the captain montreal never did have and never will 1oo % pure heart captain alex kovalev is good but he dont deserve the C a true captain never give up on his on team for a few more buck

    saku montreal really misses youu

  • Saku is not maybe 80pts scorer, but he puts his A to his game everynight. Kovalev will not do that. Saku is really great player, and person! He beated cancer, and hope i will get taste of cup some day!

  • I hope he comes back to MtL for one last season and GL for him to get the cup he deserves it

  • i will always appreciate what he did for montreal during his time here. he willl be missed.

  • legendary

  • Nice video! What's the name of the music?

  • The first one is titled "Liberty Shield", and the second track is called "Redemption". Both are from Immediate Music. PM me if you'd like a link to the tracks.

  • I really hope from bottom of my heart that Koivu and Selanne play well togetger! Both so LEGENDS!

  • he was my hero growing up.......and i still cant beileve hes gone..... good luck koivu with the ducks but i hope you treat montreal with merories and passion and maybe some day you can come back!

  • who 14 on the sens? that guy is really smart because he left the center circle so koivu will be in the center circle by himself for people to salute him

  • Haf Koivu averaged 85 pts per season instead of 70-ish - something easily achievable with the true #1 wingers he never had - they'd be building a temple in his honor. I understand Plekanec is the better long-term choice, but holy sh*t we'll miss Saku... He's a perfect fit for the Ducks with Selanne and Getzlaf as #1 center.

  • If it wasn't for all the unfortunate injuries, it's for damn sure Koivu would have been a point-per-game player. It's a shame that we let him go, he would have made a great duo with Cammalleri.

  • I loved the "smurf line"

    Petrov Koivu Bure

  • I still cant believe hes gone...

  • Good Luck to Koivu with the ducks...

Thanks for all those amazing years with the habs.

    You'll be missed :(

  • I'm sad Saku's time with the Habs ended on such a sour note... I really wish him all the luck and of course a Stanley cup.

Many "fans" wished for his departure but in the end we will miss him. Merci Saku

  • welcome Saku! will be fun to se you and teemu play together again ;)

  • HE IS OURS!!!!!!!

  • I hope he wins the cup!

  • Amazing combination of video and music

  • To be honest, I think it's one of my worst videos. I could've done so much more with it, but I don't have the time to do so...

  • why the fuck did we let him go....

  • i think saku and teemu will take over the nhl in next season it will be so awsome to watch to greatest fins play in same team playing

  • Scott Gomez or him.. lol.. Habs will become as good as the Rangers.. lol... Ducks, you have a great chance at the cup this comming year! Congrats Ducks!

  • Haha, thnx for the complements. But

  • Haha, thnx for the complements but honestly, we'll see how the Ducks pan out before we start making predictions.

  • What are the names of these songs?

  • great video. thanks

  • saku it has been a great time in montreal thank u for wat u did for the team and for the city

  • And the song name is????

  • There are two songs. I'm thinking of re-doing this video, I'm not happy with it. Thoughts?

  • Excellent choice for music my friend. And I like the fact that you didn't leave out the background sound. MUCH better than the other tribute videos with the lame tunes.

  • i cant wait to see what saku does for us in anaheim.

  • hell yeah we have like the best offensive group in the league, getzlaf , ryan, perry, selanne, lupul, and koivu! not to mention ebbet and miller who can produce

  • i know!! even though we lost pronger and beauche, im still sooo pumped for this season.

  • hey atleast niedermayer is coming back and we have whitney and wisniewski aswell

  • this is true. we definitely have a great season ahead of us......im so stoked.

  • being from montreal, the ducks r getting a great player and i hope that he helps u guys get to the final so the habs can beat you. lol still i think that he has too much class to play for some of the fans here. hope he gives your team 100 points. if he stays health he could believe me

  • that would be great even just to get back to the finals, and if he produced a 100 point season, though unlikely considering hes a second line player that would be great aswell

  • If you dont Retire # 11 Montreal, finland will forever hate you.

What a shame if you dont do it.

  • If montreal doesn't retire 11, We should hate ourselves!

  • Great video.

Farewell saku, you will be missed.

  • I know Saku will probably got to Minny but after the way Montreal treated him it would serve them right if he signed with Boston or Toronto.

  • Thank you Saku for all youve done for montreal.....we loved you here and will allways love and respect you here in montreal. Good luck on what ever comes your way in the future.

  • I think that Montreal was the best place for Koivu in NHL.

  • Gainey Stinks

I hope Saku goes to Minnesota.

  • Epic man, very epic

  • Nice video! We will always love you Saku ! Thank you for all the memories!
