  • i love her soo much, she is very smart.

  • "Kerli it's raining"

    "I know"

    LOOOOOOOL

  • Thats why she havent get so famous as she deserves to be known in every country. She havent get famous cause people at this level are really hipocrite and low self esteem.People prefer dirty souls, drug addict and payed whores on stage inted of dinamic twisted real beat and natural voice thats why!! anyways kerli ilove u ur BIG :)

  • why are there no celebrities like her? and yet shes not so popular idk why!!! that irriates me... i love her though shes my inspiration in my heart, shes popular. <3

i love lady gaga but, in her songs all she talks about mostly is sex... and so do most celebrities in the us... that why i hear k pop. im korean.

  • Kerli is better than all normal blonds. Her hair is very unique its very whiteish and i love it. ^^

i have brown hair and i love my hair! i NVER dyed it. i dont understand why lots of brunettes want to be blond. Not that theres some blonds that wanna be brunette cause i know a lot of blonds that want to be brown hair. IF i dyed my hair ill probrably dye it RED... like cat from victorious. not ginger type of red...

  • i love and always will love kerli

  • theres noting not to like about her...shes a person with values and imagination and creativity...something people are starting to lack by a lot

  • I love her so much!!!

  • she is so open and trustworthy.

    amazing.

  • Love you Kerli your Amazing so smart, beautiful, talented.

  • love Kerli biggest fan!

  • we need more artist like her seriously...

  • I love how different she is

  • she talks amazing

    those words are true<3

  • "its fine, its just people are gonna die" Kerli haha

  • @sinevesterdeus I couldn't agree with you more. If Kerli wasn't so busy writing music, I think she'd be horrified to see that we're becoming what she came here to escape.

  • she is so insightful and beautiful, everything she says has a true meaning

  • Also I love what she said about combining what is dark and what is innocent and child-like. People who are criticizing her for the child-like part shouldn't because she said that is what she was striving for, so you think you're bashing her but really you are giving her a compliment! Its like when my brother said "you're eccentric" to hurt me but really to me that's a compliment. Kerli's lyrics are poetic and send so many messages about resilience & not giving in to barbie-norms&hope& more

  • Isn't it ironic, how all the comments by Estonians have been thumb-downed. I fully second erwinparker's notion, who btw appears to be my compatriot. He's absolutely correct. I'm not sure what Kerli is trying to do, but it seems as though she's trying to build up her image as a poor girl from some Eastern European hellhole, who's managed to climb up so high. Maybe she's trying to make people pity her.

She IS extremely ignorant & she certainly should stay hush, when it comes to numbers & dates.

  • get over yourself. if you dislike her that much, then stop watching her videos & listening to her music. problem solved.

  • It's not like I go around the Internet and watch her vids and listen to her music to make myself feel disgusted. I'm from the same country as Kerli, which means I'm forced to hear and see her music and vids DAY AFTER DAY. She's managed to hype herself up in some odd way, because her music simply is not worth the hype. It's like listening to a 5-year-old.

So I'm sorry, but I can't solve the problem, unless I go and begin living somewhere deep in the woods. Which I am considering btw.

  • many people disagree with you about her music. the fact that she's getting any hype at all is testimony enough. judging by your comments and comments from other people from Estonia, you're not exactly disproving what she's saying about the way people from Estonia discourage dreaming and being different. i don't mean to offend anyone, but just because she has a different way of perceiving the world... it doesn't make her ignorant. it's what makes her unique & THAT'S why she's getting hype.

  • She may as well continue and go on preaching her dreaming crap and the early-teens (her major audience) WILL buy it. That's not why I'm calling her ignorant. I'm calling her ignorant, because she doesn't know the basic facts of the country she lives in (yes, she still spends most of her time here). I'm calling her ignorant, because she's a 22-year-old songwriter, whose lyrics are as primitive as 5-year-olds..... because she speaks like a daft - or is it just her insufficient English?

  • i believe she may have been refering to the formal independence that was declared in 1991. a two year difference wouldn't change the mind sets of people in Estonia, so technically communism would still exist. it has more to do with psychology & logic than with accuracy with dates.

& her lyrics may be simple, but they have meaning and message in them, and you don't have to be a early teen to enjoy them. her audience may be early teen in Estonia, but the age range in other countries is vast.

  • I believe in case of Kerli there isn't anything to do with psychology and logic. And it's nice and all that you are trying to stand up for her, but as you probably know even less about the subject than Kerli, I don't think it's the right time for you. You don't want to pull off Kerli (phrasal verb to describe ultimate failure).

I have nothing against simple lyrics. In fact I agree that beauty is in simplicity. Her lyrics are PRIMITIVE - no meaning, lack of vocabulary, incoherency.

  • i wasn't refering to Kerli when said it had more to do with psychology & logic. I was refering to the people of Estonia & everyone in general. when a country is surpressed for that long of a time, nothing changes over night. and i'm not going to disagree with you, i don't know very much on the subject, but i know enough to see that you're being unnecessarily judgmental. & i'm aware of the term, thank you. but correct me if i'm wrong, wasn't Estonia formally declared Independent in 1991?

  • That is true, Wikipedia does not lie.

What you do not realise though is that she's just manipulating with you. Every artist has its niche. Kerli's is the image of a poor Eastern European girl, who struggled to become free and she, indeed, heroically managed to find her way to "the land of liberty".

I'm only a year younger than she is, and I can assure you she does not know anything about communism or difficult times. Estonia is Northern Europe and our society is as liberal as it can get.

  • actually Estonia is Eastern Europe look it up in Wikipedia i know it and I checked it out too

  • your comment about wikipedia made me laugh. (that's not where i got my info, but it still gave me a good laugh.)

i respect your opinion of her, but why does it seem that a great deal of people in Estonia dislike her and say she's a "failure" when, in fact, she's quite popular? it just seems odd to me that they don't seem to have a bit of pride in someone (from a country as small as Estonia) having some sort of success in the rest of the world?

  • lol

i suppose it's no different than any other artist. some people like her, some people don't. i'm fine with that. i like her music and i find her interesting. i suppose that's all that matters in the end.

    :)

  • & i agree with you about how artists have a niche, though. if t.A.T.u. isn't a perfect example of that, i don't know who is. either way, i like her music. her life doesn't necessarily intrigue me. i believe her personality and the way she views things is more interesting. i don't believe it has anything to do with where she came from. but you never know. her life may have been more difficult than yours. one can never tell unless they know her personally. THAT'S my point.

  • I very much dislike her "music" and while I agree that it shouldn't be about where she came from (she still lives here not to be confused), she has made it all about where she's from. That's what annoys me the most. I'd be proud of her, but she's blatantly lying and making things up to sell her "music" (read the "niche" part). She's not being honest about herself.

In Estonia everyone knows each other in one way or another. All the difficulties she had were created by herself.

  • i suppose it's not completely unplausible to think that she's stretching the truth. where she came from does come into context quite a bit, but it's more of the way she viewed her life & the difficulties in it. and if she HAS had depression, i'm sure that didn't help.

well, i thank you for having a civilized debate. i still like her music, but i suppose no one really knows what Estonia is like, save for the people that live there. & i apologize for lashing out at you. :)

  • I'm sorry for keeping you up all night (I'm assuming it is early in the morning there already). It's great you enjoy her music, my intention's not to stop people from enjoying it. I just had to point out that the "nice" story she's made up about herself and where she's from from is purely to promote herself.

I guess Estonia is just a small dot on the map. The people who've been here though know that despite of its small physical size it feels grand.

  • You have absolutely nothing to apologise for. And god knows, maybe your path leads you here one day too. After all, the world is there for you to see it.

  • hahaha, no worries. it's 4 am here & i can't sleep. i thought a computer argument would be a good cure, but after i realize how silly it was. hahaha.

i do hope to visit there one day, though. it sounds like an amazing place. america's nice... but i think europe is much more interesting. hahaha. :D

Kasva suureks, sina oled siin ainuke kibe inimene.

  • monesv, yes, her lyrics are primitive because the language of the heart IS primitive & I think that's what she's going for, didn't u hear tht she said she doesn't care wht ppl think? She said she's trying to pave a path, not to become popular, so she probably doesn't care that u'r calling her ignorant. The point is her lyrics are poetry tht touches & helps & heals millions of ppl. She writes in such a disjointed, ethereal way, it doesn't mean she's ignorant, i think its beautiful.

  • Very well noticed!

  • Estonia

  • yes there is.

  • No there isn't! Its such a fucked up Myth!

  • haha, keep telling yourself that.

  • Keep telling who what?

  • I will thank you very much

  • "which is fine, just people are gonna die" lmaoo!!!

    i love herr

    she so real.

  • i love kerli soooooooooooooo much she roxs my world

  • i didnt know what i was expecting, but i was NOT expecting her to be so intelligent. she used all the most expressive english words for the meaning she was trying to get across. most americans cant do that!

  • I am from Estonia as well and I learned to sing from her. I love her so much!!!! I move to the states a couple of months ago!!! I want to pursue the same goal as Kerli Koiv

  • Ahaha she said mother earth will shed its skin... which is fine... just people will die. It's funny because its so true and yet she says it like if it's natural or no big deal. I'm so curious as to what she thinks about death.

  • It is a natural thing, you get hurt, you bleed, you scab up to protect your new skin, and when the new skin is ready, the scab falls off, along with all the bacteria that is trying to permeate the scab

  • no not quite. Look it up it's a different thing.

  • NO, I don't think she would believe that "emo" is a real thing, chickfilms; there is no such thing as "emo" because labels are stupid and what causes "mother earth to shed its skin" and cause ppl to die....she said that the culture in estonia tried to prevent ppl from feeling emotion well guess what America is doing it to, because people think its unhealthy and unnatural to feel anything other than greed & lust & stoic apathy! I love what Kerli said about moon children, its so ethereal&real.

  • gosh shes so amazing! i just wanna meet her and have a big convorsation with her before i die.. thatd be so cool :)

  • i second that!

  • all her songs rock

  • she is so cool and smart!

  • Aww dangit, he got a hug!:[ No fair.

That's my goal now, to get a hug from her:]

  • she has an amazing perspective of life!I just couldn't not listen to her!!She realy does rulle!!

  • she has a good head on her soldiers....she kinda inspired me to have a cult..

  • she is awsome i love her songs!!!!!!!!

  • I LOVE HER!!

  • she's so real . i agree with her on everything she said..

  • I agreed with every word she said as well. and i truly mean EVERY word. :D

  • you rule

  • holy shit shes amazing, i absolutely love her

  • I LOVE HER *_________*

  • Brilliant role model

  • kerli is so awesome! <3

  • OMg, i love this girl

  • im sorry man, its not like that

  • I guess you people would rather live in your ignorant bliss.

  • or maybe your living in you OWN ignorant bliss

  • WOW! I`m amazed!

    Kerli, You Rule!

I`m happy to see someone from Estonia and say these things to everyone in the world!

I`m Estonian and feel that Kerli is the first ever Etonian singer who has the potential to conquer the world with her music and way of being. Amazing! ; )

  • omg...im speechless

    shes amazinggg!!

    so so smart!!

lol everything she said is soo true!!

  • OMG! she is so down to earth and she really knows what she is talking about and she is just so awesome and her music really speaks to me cause she is just like the all sweeden girl who came to america carrying her dream!

  • yeah but she's estonian.... :D

  • BRAINS AND BEAUTY + TALENT= KERLI

  • @shaatkns Spiritual (NOT religious!), beautiful, cute, lovely, loveable, intelligent, smart, talented, truthful, creative, critical - Kerli :)

Thats why everyone love her! :)

  • Omg..having seen her image on the poster..reminds me of the illustrator..but cant recall the name.

  • kerli is best:D kerli ruulib.

  • She demonstrates in this interview introspection and intelligence.

I've never heard Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera comment on feminism or aphex twin or fear or evil.

she's so young and so well-spoken, and she's a foreigner doing the "american dream"! Gotta love it!

  • Now why can't other female singers be like her? Her songs have such an awesome sound to it! She is seriously my role model!!

  • this is why she is so awesome!

  • i love the way everything she says sounds so intelligent and logical...she seems really smart

  • wow kerli is amazing..all the things that she say are very intelligent, and i feel the same way...here people don't have many opportunities and i'm a dreamer.. but she inspires me, cause she got what she wanted!! i'm glad for her

  • power of the mind... wow!! law of attraction.

    Kerli is my hero.

  • Gosh, I feel the same way Kerli does when she talks about not feeling like you belong here, I never felt I did & also what she says about people and the earth. Wow...that's cool to see other ppl feel the same as you :). Microsoftboi..I understand what you mean BUT estonians aren't the only ones, you will find some/many ppl who are like that in the world who feel or does the same against their own ...guess that's being human you know :). She is marvelous!

  • I love you Kerli! I think this girl is a very old advanced soul... the description she gave about mother Earth I've heard from many other intuitives.

  • I love how Kerli thinks!

    She's so amazing.

  • finally a role model... and at that she has a pagan/hippie state of mind

  • when she tells people some thing it sounds so interesting

  • SHE ROCKS THIS GIRL/WOMAN IS INCREDIBLE !!

SHE'S AWESOME!!!! KERLI YOU GO AND KEEP UP ON WHAT YOUR DOING!!! you rock !

  • awesome artist awesome mind!

  • Estonia and Kerli rules Love you kerli!Parim Oled!!!!

  • Her and Vanessa Carlton follow the same path in the sense that they don't live to be famous, they want their music to reach people. I totally and completely admire that, I am an actor and model, and I don't seek the fame and fortune, its something I love to do, and live for, I don't only want the fame and fortune, if it comes with my job, ok I'll take it, but its not something i am souly seeking out.

  • It's kinda wierd listening to all the estonians now saying: All hail Kerli, you are a demi-god! She got slug thrown in her face when she was participating in the eurovison song selection contset in estonia. a'la you have been for 5 years away and produced no music etc. The local media said she was another hyped-up thingy. I want to say estonians are cynical. I'm glad she has made her dream true and she showed to all of us pursue your drems, and u might be the next kerli. Thank you Kerli.

  • And all them 2 faces Estonians .. if someone failed they called it Kerli Syndrome now shes made it bigger than any other person their like u sayin hail kerli! they are just 2 faced and estonians should believe in peoples dreams!

  • I agree with you 100% altough I'm and estoinan as well. But the wierdest thing is now everybody says my friendas, teachers, co-workers and occaisanaly the meida, we always had faith in you. But hey this is estonia, where evrything is possible. US of A is nothing copared to Estonia, honeslty here you can steal from the country and you'll get padded on the shoulder: Good work :D

  • She's an amazing artist in every way.

  • She's very wise, so young, and so wise, she's what I call an artist, not just a singer, an artist, everything has a meaning for her

  • totally agree with you.

  • Wow, she's so deep! I like the things she says because they are so true. And she is so different! Great interview!♥

  • I agree. She is just so amazing and free.

  • She seems unusually artistic and intelligent; I LIKE her attitudes and feelings! Precious & sensitive. I feel strongly that she really cares about her community & the world about us.

  • Listening your interviews it's hard to believe that you are older than I am. I guess the answer lies in the fact I've had a chance to educate myself in an Estonian school, which proofs to be the 3rd best educational system in the whole world. America is far behind.. that is why they don't know where is Estonia. Everybody in the EU know it for sure.

  • Well, geez! Great job ruining the kind and open atmosphere she created! Estonians CAN be condescending; you've proved it.

  • I'm just 4 years younger than you and lived pretty close to Elva in Southern Estonia for the whole of my life and what it is here is it's the most Estonian district on the whole country. In Tallinn you can feel the urbanisation and lost ethnic values. But as far as I am a citizen of Estonian Republic I can say it's nothing more than a democratic country in the most eastern Europe. For you Kerli I would say that you should see more world than just black and white as you see it now, at the moment.

  • aim from Latvia as well!and yeah! Im kind a obsessed with her as well... I mean before her, I couldnt listen to anything except deathcore, deatmetal, trasmetal and hardcore... but she changed my opinion about unmetal music! :D a little... I still listen only metal and Kerli! :D

  • wow ! she is so beautiful U_u and i also was born on Feb 7th !! =) i think i love her !

  • shes like so rite about everything xD

only if more people can be like her

  • plx clone her 20k times and mix with the whole population to make world better

  • i love her mind and her music ^_^ i become more than just a fan.

  • Shes amazing.

  • she is soo idealistic

  • awesome.I love her song.

  • wow, she's very idealistic....I so love her even more...

  • shes really smart

  • She didn't say Europeans didn't have dreams she said there their Families don't embrace it like most American families do.

  • she is the only real down to earth person in hollywood

  • I can see how Estonian she still is. That good potential she has what has a lot of Estonians. Itś said that Estonians are evil etc. but they are just realistic. Which is a very good value!

Holywood loves illusions and people think that way that it is comfortable to live in illusions. But they are easily breakable that way

I loved your comment so I needed to react to this

  • it's pronounced like carely or smthing like that. and R is pronounced like the people from scotland do it.

  • I just found out about Kerli about a couple of weeks ago..she is an amazing person, and her lyrics to her music are soo powerful.. SHe is such an inspiration. and waitt I though it is pronounced "Curly"..how is it pronounced??

  • E is pronounced like A, but without the I at the end. It's like when you pronounce "cake", don't pronounce i at the end (and of course c at the beginning). Little hard to explain :D

  • Idealistic yet honest, open, real, unashamed, kind-hearted... Kerli you are a beautiful person. I hope I meet you some day.

Being idealistic btw when backed up by those other features is a great thing. You can communicate clearly and understandably with people yet you bring something new into the circle.

  • Kerli is amazing, actually she has always been... Even if she was in estonia and when she was younger! I have always loved her and her singing:) Good luck! (Y)

  • OMG! Finally i know how To Say Her name Hhaahaha;; Im Becoming A Huge Fan Of Hers Cause I Just Discovered 'Walking On Air' A Couple Days Ago && Completely Fallin In Love With It!!

  • me too! i didnt know it was pronounced like curly! i discovered the same song and vid and fell inlove with it too! lol

  • she can't pronounce her name either XD it's Kerli, how hard can it be

so good feeling to be estonian...

  • finaly i can pronounce her name!!1

  • All Estonian people are NOT depress and vinegary !!!

  • It sounds like "curly"

  • naljakas on ikka, köörli XD

  • in estonia E is pronounced more like americas A. I hope it helps you a little pit :)

  • Actually things were like that in Estonia after the soviet era ended. It took us many years to clear the mess and build up a new country.

Yes, and there indeed were chickens and pigs etc in households.

Progress went much faster in bigger cities but in some smaller places it even nowadays seems as if you would have gone back in time.

And it's true about estonian people aswell. As they say that estonians are like a nation of poker players and estonians favorite food is another estonian. :P

  • "estonians favorite food is another estonian" haha Im from Latvia and thats what people say about latvians too :D

  • yeah thats true..im from lv too

ohh..and shes amazing: so smart talanted gorgeous and i luv her voice

  • to: monesv

Edu!!!

  • She's so fucking cool

  • god i know!!! shes amazing!

  • I love Kerli!

She's so swet and creative, and thoughtful. She is amazing :)

  • too bad she does not she is not so happy about where she is from. that is sad. but i love you anyway:)

  • she rules!!!

  • she is exactly like me :)) my inner world looks exactly as she describes her own :))
