I must admit however that even if I was standing next to Reagan while he spoke his bullshit nonsense, I'd have told him to "speed it up" or "piss off" or something to that effect as well.
I love you, michael moore. I, like many others, fall into a gap. I make too much to get any help and too little to get anything. I'm robbed from both ends. I work hard and study hard. Why should we be left to suffer? Thank you for standing up for us. You have given ppl hope when all was hopeless. I want to stand with you at the steps of theives.
Thank you for standing up for common man. You have done what I never thought possible: watched our government and kept it accountable for its actions.
Thanks, Michael, for another great flick. I've seen it twice already, and I'll get a copy when it's released in DVD.
Indeed, I e-mailed you three years ago and suggested you might consider a film with the theme of those who DON'T make it, while the "MSM" seems to cover only those who did. This covererd that ground, as do the ghastly conditions worldwide today. (We in the US can complain, but I got e-mail from an engineer friend in India. He's facing a lay off too!)
I don't agree with Michael Moore on a number of issues, and no one can deny he is a propagandist but that being said so is FOX news.
I believe MM serves an desperately needed function in America. He gives a voice to the left which has has been forced into silence since before the cold war.
For a democracy to function properly the people need to hear opinions from all three political affiliations. Conservative, Liberal and Socialist. Thanks to MM now all three are being represented in the media
MIchael - I was so impressed by your recent interview on how you felt about the Obama presidency. It would have been really easy to defend him, but it took a man to admit that so far, Obama isn't the man we thought he would be.
dumbest thing I have ever heard. He was involved in the coup in Venezuela after the socialist Hugo Chavez was elected and started to get his country out of poverty. You need to learn up on socialism.
Just because Chavez is a socialist doesn't mean that Bush isn't.
Bush Socialism is just socialism turned on his head.
Privatize the profits, socialize the gains.
When you ask the tax payer to pay to clean up pollution instead of asking the polluters, in an effort maximize corporate profits; that's socialism.
If Robbin Hood was a socialist for robbing the rich to give to the poor, that doesn't mean that Bush robbing the poor to give to the rich isn't still socialism.
Bush made it easier for corporations to do what ever they wanted. Gave the rich tax cuts. if your argument stood then the argument that corporations were socialist would too. Socialists aren't sponsored by corporations.
but it wasn't just that he made it easy for corporations to do what they want, but that they gave the corporations whatever they wanted.
I think most people would agree that Welfare is a socialist concept (not saying that in a bad way). But I'm saying that corporate welfare is every bit as socialist as welfare for poor people.
If you are going to measure how socialist someone is, by the number of socialists acts they comment, then George Bush is the biggest socialist ever.
Socialism is for the people. Bush is for the Corporations. Corporations keep him in power. His power equals more money for him and the corporations. In capitalism it is all about the money.
I am pretty sure your thinking of plutocracy or oligarchy. Socialism is never for a small amount of people. A government that is the ruling minority is an Oligarchy I think that is what your thinking of
I would argue that Chavez is the biggest socialist. Socialism is only socialism if it is socialism for everyone not the oligarch there is indeed socialism for the rich. Saying that is like saying "I'll help everyone but only if there rich" that isn't helping everyone. Socialism is about economic equality capitalism is about economic differences. Bush making socialism for the rich widens the gap and makes the economic differences larger... i.e. not socialism.
I do see what you mean. He did indeed socialize the losses a lot better than any socialist socialized the gains. I can understand what you mean. But calling him a socialist isn't great for real socialists reputation. lol
With no ceiling you have COEs cutting the pay for its workers so they can have more. I think all the important industries should be socialized and have big businesses that aren't a part of those industries be abolished because they push small businesses out. A family farmer cannot compete with Monsanto. And a small shop store cannot compete with wall*mart. No one need millions and millions of dollars.
If the living standards for the poor are increased you have the standards for everyone increased. you have seen the movie you know the statistics. Having no ceiling means there is no floor. A rich guy can take and take and take. But if there is a floor stopping the people from loosing and loosing then that rich guy will have a ceiling sometime. just after everyone has hit the floor.
-cont.- What ironic is these employees never worked a day at Delphi. This situation affect anyone who was a salaried employee of the GM unit that became American Axle because GM shifted pension responsibilities to Dephi in 1999.
Why? American Axle bought the driveline div. 3/4/1994. This is another example of corp. greed and corruption. If this is allowed we now know that our justice system is just as corrupt as the our political system is WE ARE FUCKED
Anyone collecting a pension needs to be on guard because if this is allowed we are all screwed: Former employees lose most of pensions: Happen as Delphi emerges from bankruptcy: Buffalo, NY.(WIVB) potentially devastating financial news for hundreds of former salaried employees at American Axle. About 200 western NY employees could lose up to 70% pension as Delphi continues to merge out of bankruptcy. - cont.-

I loved this film,
But the problem isn't capitalism, it's socialism.
George Bush was the biggest socialist to ever live.
What we've seen over the past 9 years (arguably the past 30 years) is corporate welfare run a muck!
When you hear "No Bid Contracts" think "Socialism".

I think your paying too much attention to the direction the money is moving.
Maybe Oligarchy is another word for Socialism turned on it's head, doesn't make me wrong.
I still stand by my statement that Bush is the biggest socialist the world has ever seen.
Randi Rhodes has refereed to this what's been happening as "socialism turned on it's head" ...
Privatize the gains, socialize the losses.
17R3W 2 years ago
Another point,
you said "In Capitalism it is all about the money".
While in "socialism it's all about the money" in any economic system, "it's all about the money"
that would be the point of a economy.
What we've seen recently (by Micheal Moores own admition) is not capitalism. Or at least not the 1950's / Greatest Generation type capitalism.
Again I argue it's closer to socialism then anything else.
17R3W 2 years ago
This is not capitalism, it is anarchy for the wealthy.
They are no longer, in many countries, subject to the rule of law.
Hell, in some countries, they were NEVER subject to the rule of law.

True,
I'm not really in favor of socialism "per say", but I want a social safety network.
True Capitalism has no floor and no ceiling, so some level socialism it important.
If having health care, free education, roads, and other social programs, means the super wealthy have one less private jet, then I'm all for it.
A floor always means failure isn't death. If you go from owning a small business down to living on welfare, and hopefully back up.
17R3W 2 years ago
