  • I just wanted to say what a brilliant video you have. My partner has 2 daughters both born by c-section which i believe to be caused by the doctors. I decided that when i had children i would do it all natuarally, my son had a dipping heartrate but was still born healthily without drugs, again i think this was due to me being foced onto my back which slowed labour and caused his distress, this time i am fighting for a homebirth but i have to show my partner that homebirths are safe.

  • WONDERFULL BIRTH

  • Hi everyone! I'm back from a LONGGG hiatus and have been extremely busy on the parenting front! I'm a single mommy now and the 3 kiddos are def a handful!! Please would you "like" my brand new facebook page, earth mama (brown and blue pic of a preggie tum)...... I am so keen to open up discussions on stress-free birthing and feel that this is a great platform...... Let's hear what you all have to say! Love and Light, Cindy.

  • could you imagine santa coming down the chimney getting that view!

  • @rosesrd2000 hahahahahahahahaha! Hilarious!!! Sheesh, and what a view! Luckily I've lost 30kg's since then!!

  • that was beautiful! thumbs up to the beautiful courageous mom! and congratulations to the wonderful family!

  • @banana4530YOU HAVE NO ROOM TO TALK IF YOU WERE PREGNANT AT 15!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Banana4530 Hey what´s wrong with you each birth is different

You have no right to adjudge her!!

  • @Banana4530 I hope you're taking good care of your baby and teaching your child not to judge others as we are all different. This was my third birth in 3,5 years...it was very painful and with no meds at all. I think I did a great job, as do all my kids who watch their birth videos often. Blessings and light to you and your baby.

  • @Banana4530 You should ashamed yourself for getting pregnant at 15!

  • @Banana4530 maybe because you chickened out and had an epidural, she did an amazing job. so leave her alone. all women handle birth differently.

  • @Banana4530 lol

  • Cutie little baby. Like taking the biggest poop ever. And once it passes she's right pain is instantly gone. Just don't forget u have one or two gentle pushes to get the placenta out. The other pain is like the worst period cramps ever but moving around helps alot I just would walk fast back and forth and deep squat

  • 'Precious' is the Gift of Life !!!

  • 5 years ago to the minute that I went into labour. Love you my beautiful Sage, thank you for your awe-inspiring wisdom and love!! xxxxxx

  • @sindiwe congratulations, wonderful job! where are you from?

  • @OstetrichinaSantAnna From Cape Town, South Africa

  • @sindiwe what a wonderful way to show your son what he means to you an inspiration of a mother love and blessings to your family

  • Gross

  • Curious did you plan to birth your baby into the water? I was in the water for a majority of my labor and experienced no pain. Alot of Mommas in my birthing classes experience little to no pain as well. There are ways to prepare yourself for a great birth. No matter how we birth our babies we can do it. It's not horrible like we think, and we are very capable!!! Great job Momma! How did you prepare?

  • I haven't read through all of the comments, so I don't know if it's been asked/answered already - but what is this music? I love it!! I'm having my first HB in March (first three were w/ midwife in hospital) and trying to track down music that [might] be what I want to hear while in labor... ;-D

    Thanks for anyone's help!!!

PS -- GORGEOUS birth video!!! I was nearly crying out loud at the end! Just beautiful!!!

  • This is so beautiful I am so filled with terror about having my first child but hopefully that won't happen until I am married and ready. So heartwarming the support and love your family has with each other really brings me a bit of joy there are still families like the one I grew up in.

  • Absolutely beautiful and inspiring. Thank you for sharing this very special time time with us.

  • You are amazing and your birth was absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing

  • What a beautiful birth! I found this because I was looking for a birth video to share with a friend on facebook who, in class, saw a childbirth video that 'scared her' and left the whole class traumatised- I wanted to show her that it doesn't HAVE to be that way. I think this is a great example! :)

  • hi i was wondering what the name of that peaceful song u have playing in the background is.. I used to have it but lost the CD :(

    thank you

  • hehi really want to chat i have pics too so

  • So beautiful!!! That must have been the most amazing Christmas present ever. And to give birth at home and be there on Christmas Day... even better!!!!!

  • Beautiful,

Thank you for sharing your gift with us.

    Best Wishes to all/

  • It made me shed a tear too, well done ! :)

  • brung a tear to my eye...thats how labour and birth should be. gorgeous little boy by the way

  • so beautiful.....touches my heart

  • so beautiful.. thank u for sharing.. he looks JUST like his mama!!!

  • That was so beautiful. I wished I could have moved around in comfortable positions during birth instead of being flat on my back in a hospital.

  • you are wonderful parents with a beautiful family god bless you all and may you're new year be as blessed as each one in the past

  • @RayeMcGarrett I'm about to have mine

  • That was powerful and intense! Wonderful, what a Christmas present he is, and he's a gift every year! :)

  • that was so beautiful it made me cry... omg congratulations!

  • That brought me to tears. I cannot await the day I can have my own homebirth. Love the name too. :) Beatiful. Congrats. I can feel your families warmth just seeing the beginning of the video. Many blessings to you and your family.

  • beautiful.. :))

  • wow. u're amazing...

it's true that u have to be ready and relax to be able to dilate...

I was too stressed during my first baby delivery...

  • oh my god how beautiful!!

  • Good Job Mommy!!!! He is perfect. I am 3 days overdue with baby #5 and we are having her at a birth center with no medication. All four of my other babies were born at the hospital with an epidural and I always felt like I let myself down by not going natural for my baby! I am very excited about this delivery. I will post my video as soon as she gets here. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful birth with us.

  • Beautiful! Thank You for Sharing! CONGRATS

  • wow this video and the info on the video..... just wow. I can't wait to have this experience!

  • My name is SAGE!!! but im a girl

  • that was truly a beautiful birth, was very over welming to watch, congratulations..

  • Ohh how wonderful! Thanks for sharing!

  • I have two children and am expecting my third in December or early January. My second was born at home and we`re looking forward to having our third one the same way if there no complications. Isn`t it sad that people are conditioned to think that the only safe to have a baby is in the hospital or that only a doctor is capable doing deliveries?

  • Maybe its a bit strange, but in the Netherlands still half the woman deliver at home. I delivered all three at home and I was every time very proud and happy.

I once read about a research with deer. When they were sedated with pain killers, they did not take care for the born calf any more. I think nature specifically organised it this way. Your body makes the pain killers. All it takes is concentration and relaxation to the best of you ability. I wish you the best of luck at home.

  • Beautiful homebirth

  • Comment removed

  • That's amazing. Thank you for posting that. Wonderful.

  • This is so beautiful! I was crying. What a blessing it is to give birth. God bless you and yours!

  • i thought about homebirth myself, but luckily i decided to go to a hospital- both births had complications, and i would be dead by now...

nevertheless i enjoyed your video very much! what a wonderful birth!!!

by the way- my little daughter is born on christmas day, too ;-) on sages first birthday... =)

  • Wauw, they let you get away with that comment.

  • Agreed. Any sane doctor and even some non-doctor types will tell you that.

  • You must be American, look at the rest of the world and tell me how dangerous it is....stats, and where the US ranks in maternal & infant mortality...Get your facts straight

  • I haven't seen any credible stats.

Also realize near 40% of first time births, and at home, are transferred.

Also realize complications are a real threat. Increased blood pressure, cord problems, postpartum bleeding that can not be brought under control with pitocin.

There is a risk of a midwife failing to transfer.

People put way too much blind faith in "natural birth".

People have de-evolved, we're far far from perfect.

  • I replied to you because you called it "stupid" and you do not know enough about it to be saying that. Why are you so afraid of natural birth? There's a very strict method of accepting only low risk women for homebirth. You are wrong about 40% transfer. The US's C-section rate is out of control at 30% now, from all the "life saving" intervention done at the hospital. WHO set a goal of 7% for the whole world! I would support hosptial birth if we supported normal, natural PROCESS of birth there!

  • Wow! Google..pretty reliable medical research/stats!! 5% women are choosing totally elective section, most are as a result of a previous section. Your comment about home birth being "stupid" on this board is rude and insensitive to the beautiful thing this woman did!

  • Please get the book "Pushed" by Jennifer Block. She has by far the best stats and most thorough research on this topic I have ever seen. And, she is coming at it from a journalists point of view with no agenda. Every statistic she quotes is documented... literally a quarter of the book is her bibliography.

You're right, complications are real, and the whole purpose of a midwife is to watch for those complications so that the health of mom and baby is never compromised.

  • Here's another one:

    tinyurl (dot) com (slash) dnzt69

    A ten year study.

"Mothers may be twice as likely to lose their baby when compared to the national average. "

"Overall, one baby in 1,400 died during birth or in the first week, whereas one baby in 800 born at home or intended to be born in the home died."

mothers transferred to hospital: "One in 150 of those babies died."

    Not looking good...

  • The US is ranked #26 in maternal & neonatal health outcomes...your 95% delivery rate in hospitals isn't looking so hot huh? Whatever, I don't need to prove something is safe to YOU that is going on all over the world, and EVERY industrial nation that does is has healthier babies and moms! Get some educated stats and info not some whoever posting on freakin google!

  • It doesn't matter. You believe what you want to believe, and I choose to go with information that I feel is right.

Do expect some resistance when you try to lure people with your distorted selective views though.

  • @a1mint home births arent dangerous at all if the pregnancy goes without complication. How do you think women did it for thousands of years before they were forced into the hospital setting and drugged beyond belief???

  • @jenn882009 Problem is that complications are a real actual risk. It's like gambling.

  • that was a beautiful birth. how long did you push? I had a home birth in May and pushed for 4 hours. My girl was stuck and stubborn, thank goodness for an amazing midwife who knew what to do. And I didn't tear.

  • What an amazingly powerful experience! Will you be adding to your family? You make it look so easy! Also, does the cushion you were leaning on during labour in the pool have a specific name? I found that when i was labouring in the spa pool there was nothing to lean on and i remember being slightly distracted throughout my contractions because of that. TIA :)

  • wow, that is a good video.. well done lovely baby.. out of interest how much did sage weigh when born? x

  • yea hes gorgiz

  • wow! good job i gave birth 6 months ago to my 1st child my beautiful daughter Nicole i still get all teary when i look back at the photos and remember how special that day was it was truly wonderful and watching this brought it all back again you did an amazing job congrats :)

  • GREAT JOB, FAMILY! blissings xo

  • Hi Sinduwe, when you scream around 6:35 is that due to pain or the effort of pushing the baby out? Had you any pain meds? Thanks.

  • Okay being truthful when I have kids I want a all natural birth then when I saw your wife in pain I was like O.O NVM! Now again I want it natural. I really like your video.

  • You're South African!!! ^____^ (At least, I think you are? You sound it...? :D)

Congratulations, btw. Awesome vid. What a wonderdful experience!

  • This video was fantastic to watch. It seemed perfect!i am aprehensive about my labour, watching this video makes it all seem worth while.

  • omg the homebirth footage was beautiful, and also made me cry.

  • Lol sorry about that. People like that get on my nerves.

  • OMG grahamg353 and tryforfunt509 have some respect. If your going to post comments like that then do it some where else. This is a special and precious moment in another persons life and they wish to share that with the world. Not so you have some where to post your slutty antics. You should be ashamed.

sindiwe this is a beautiful video congratz. :)

  • This is my favourite video on youtube. I have seen it so many times and I still get tears in my eyes. Little Sage's birth was awesome, and your family is beautiful :) I have to ask, what is the music playing in the background? I really like it!

  • I have seen this video so many times but i love it more and more every time!

  • im due to have my 3rd baby in 6 weeks time another little boy cant wait but no matter how many times u hav given birth u still cant prepare ureself for labour!!! wish me luck!!

  • a beautiful christmas miracle. I am planning a homebirth with my 3rd child and we are due 12/25 !!!!

  • does the rocking motion help the baby come out faster?

  • Thankyou so much, my second child is due in November and i plan to have a homebirth. Watching your homebirth was very comforting and inspirational. hope you are all well. Sage is a gorgous child!

  • You have me crying over here! That was so beautiful. It must have been wonderful being able to give birth in the comfort of your own home. =)

  • that was the most beautiful birth you were so blessed .i gave birth in the hospital and had a time

  • thank you for posting this. i used to think natural birth was crazy. the most painful thing i could imagine. and i used to say i'm gonna want a double epidural. but now that i plan to start a family in the next couple of years i've started to learn about planned home births. the more i learn about it the more i feel like this is the right thing for me. i'm still scared of the pain and everyone says i'm not strong enough to take it. but they haven't changed my mind. i feel like i can do it.

  • you can do it! I had a hospital birth with medication and all of that intervention and it was horribly violating and tramatic for both myself and my first child. My second birth was in the water at a birthcenter. It was the most beautiful expierance. I had no medications or interventions of any kind. I wasn't straped to anything or yelled at during labor. I felt pleasure, like a goddess, ifeltlife surging through me! My baby was born into my hands and I'm a stronger woman for trusting birth.

  • I love how you had INXS ~ Never Tear Us Apart playing in the background :o)

    Five stars :o)

  • wow this brought back memory's giving birth to my daughter. she is 7 now, thank you very much for sharing such a beautiful experience.

  • It's the most beautiful thing ever on this planet

  • How lovely to see it all in it's natural state, how we're supposed to have babies. I had to have c sections with my 2 and wanted nothing more than home births or at least natural births with no drigs. Have just been sterlised and wish I'd at least had the chance. Only ever wanted 2 so am happy but watching this makes me wish it could have happened. Well done, wish more were like that.

  • Beautiful!!! Awesome!!! Congratulations on not just this little guy but all 3 of your children!!

  • that was soo cool im really sorry of how many pain you may feel XD

but you son was a blessing

  • that was beautiful

  • ugh. childbirth is a horror show. but congrats on your son.

  • Um, what does a birthing bath do? Oh btw, congrats on your lovely child!!

  • What a beautiful child you have!Congratulations!I wish the best of luck and health for you to raise him,and for himself as well!I have 2 kids myself, and watching this made me cry!By the way,i love the background Gregorian Chants!it sounded chinese. What`s the name of the song, and where can i get it,please?

    Thank you very much,and once again,congratulations!Realy well-done!

  • This made me cry. It's been 11 years since my daughter arrived. 14 years since my son arrived. I watched this out of interest and to hope to recapture those immense feelings of delivering a perfect humen being. Well done to you both. It brought it all back to me. How lucky we are!

  • Beautiful. You are so strong. Very inspirational to me thankyou so much for sharing.

  • im going to have my first child in 2 days. its going to be a water birth. im so scared. especcially of crowning. tell me what to do plz.

  • Thank you for sharing this.. amazing, I am yet to have my first, but after watching this beautiful video all my fears about childbirth seem so silly... no hospital for me :D

i think thats what causes most of the fear and trauma for the child..

    YOU MADE MY DAY!! :D

  • awesome. Thanks. We are inspired.

  • OMG, he is CUTE!!!!

  • thank you. I am a training midwife and have been feeling lately that my vision of birth was a romantic notion i might lose as i am working in a large training hospital in Australia. I felt this is the kind of home birth i would like for myself and the women i look after. I cried watching this and it is a reminder to keep the faith. Birth is beautiful and you guys really have a lovely, down to earth energy throughout this clip. i really appreciate seeing this today! thanks again

  • happy christmas!

  • woooow wonderfull!!!! it is sooo true how when the baby is out that same minute you dont feal pain you have an urge to just hold him and never let him go. you did a wonderfull job!!

  • thanks a lot for sharing these moments

    beautiful souvenirs ...

  • wonderfull

  • i woul need drugs!!

  • just lovely. what a great positive film.

  • you must have been looking at a different pair then I was

  • This is a beautiful video ! I gave birth to twins in a hammock in my back yard all naturally and unissted. People thought I was crazy but I really thought it was nice. My husband was in Iraq so It was just me and really natural births are the way to go I think.

  • beautiful,very well done

  • is that one of those aerobeds?

  • No the baby won't drown. The baby's umbilical cord is still attached and the baby is getting oxygen from that.

  • the baby WILL NOT drown - the baby is in fluid for 9 months in the womb, a few seconds in a warm tub is not much difference. From people that I've known to experience a water-birth, they've said that the baby is much calmer after the birth than a "normal" hospital birth. My pregnancies were too risky for homebirth or water birth :(

  • how she an idiot? its up 2 her how she has her kids!!!!!!

  • I wasn't talking about the birth I thought that was beautiful I was talking to the idiot who made the bad comment. I think this was a lovely birth

  • Oh oh..... thank you so much. Watching positive experiences like this strengthens my convictions to birth at home as much as possible. Thank you, for sharing.

  • Thankyou so much, that was beautiful. To see you do this at home makes me feel so much more comfortable with the idea of home birth. Congratulations and good luck!

  • Great video, congrats and thanks. We had an amazing home birt too, and this mum is right; the birth moment is such a rush and makes the pain well worth it.! Wound't have done it any other way!

  • Would you be able to let me know the name of the soundtrack you are playing in the background? I used to have this CD and loaned it to someone and never got it back :( It is just the perfect piece of music! Congrats on the birth :)

  • that was so beautiful! I love that picture of him at the end. he's so stinkin cute!

  • Lovely video! Am planning third home birth in the next month and found this may sweet daily dose of inspiration!

  • omg so scared dont know what would be worse home birth or a bunch of strangers stepping in im still in the middle

  • hospital birth is tiring N terrible.

  • what a cute little bugger

  • That was beautiful. Congratz on your gorjuz christmas present :)

  • gorgeous!!

  • Thanks for posting that. Words can't describe how I feel seeing a woman give birth but it always makes me cry. I am 27 weeks pregnant with my 1st child, planning a home birth, and I hope I am as brave and fortunate as you.

  • Looks like you have em' where you make em'! Thats cool.

  • hahahahahaha! I love that! And you are so right!

  • eyyy! beautifull, from Argentina, all my love

  • I'm 37 weeks and so scared even though I've given birth naturally before! Thankyou for showing me how beautiful childbirth is and how once the baby's born you just forget everything you've been though!!

  • congrtaulations! beautifuly done.

  • am due to have a home birth in a few weeks and that bought a tear to my eye it was lovely. it has made me feel alot less nervous
