i think he means 1100 ft lbs of torque after it goes through the transmission and you multiply it out in low gear and then multiply it through your differential
7.3 and 6.9 idis are essentialy the same engine 7.3 is just 6.9 punched out, powerstroke 7.3l are a whole diffrent ball game! 6.9 is a fantastic motor it does what it was designed to do pull and get decent fuel econmy and be reliable, slap a turbo on there, air intake, exaust, and turn up the injector pump and youll get some decent horse power for idi trucks
@northeasteg6 I'm getting a 1984 ATS turbo 6.9 making 1100 FT LBS of torque to the wheels...it's 4x4...decked out all the way with only 90,000 miles for 2500, it's faster than most cars and has stacks, can't out beast stacks, lol
@Xx69roadrunnerxX Tuned strait pipes, regulare ones don't have enough backflow, I/E less hp, fuel milage, and tourque. But your right, no muffler means more of everything :) Tuned strait pipes actually give it more of a rumble sound too >:)
Nice turbo or no turbo on that truck? I have one just like it and its soon to get a bigger exhaust and ATS non gated turbo :) Thanks for sharing, that Hypermax exhaust rocks!
i have 1985 w a new 1993 7.3. 5star auto c.6. d.60 w 3.5 strait pipe it will pull w the new stuff.

can the 6.9's handle the turbo?
Gorbachev4Life 2 years ago
Yes if I were doing it though Id deffinatly look into aftermarket head studs ande gaskets
2strokedetroitdiesel 2 years ago
and they were non turbo which takes out a lot of road and highway performance.

How do you like that engine? I'm thinking of getting a 6.9 diesel engine, and just wanted your opinion on it. Thanks!
DanielJaegerFilms 3 years ago
Its not a power monster like your powerstroke but its easy to work on parts are not real expensive and if taken care of will last a long time.

Put a 5" tip if you want to eliminate the gas job portion of the sound. Very nice improvement with just 1" though
