News about this video as announced by the moderator of the EVO video session 2008:
Dear Participants, I have the pleasure of announcing that the winner of the EVO Video 2008 Film Festival is "Landmarks in Our Lives" by Berta. Congratulations and thanks to all the participants who voted in the poll! This was the last event connected to the Workshop. However, we hope participants will use the YG to share any slideshows they may create during the rest of the year.
I loved the shots of Caracas and Toronto. In central Maryland, a little bump in the terrain known as "Sugarloaf Mountain" is the point I like to see when I am driving around the area. It's maintained as a private park for the enjoyment of the public, and my husband and I often go there to picnic or just to look out over the flat countryside from the top. To those accustomed to real mountains, it does not deserve the name, but to us flatlanders, it's the best we can do.
I like the smooth transition from the description of the landmarks to the ending which invites students to brainstorm landmarks in their own locations. This actually illustrates one pedagogical use of video slideshows. Thank you, Berta. - Paul
