We have fairly high rates but definetly not the highest.

Sweden does not have the highest suicide rate in the western world according to any of the lists i have found.
We have fairly high rates but definetly not the highest.
These lists reliability however is in question regarding a lot of the countries because suicide is regarded as shameful in many of these countries and reported as something else .
Iran and syria has almost no reported suicides but are definitely not among the happiest countries.

It's cold, wet and dark half the year. You can go a month without seeing the sun, just dark grey clouds and rain. Also, seeing every tree wither and die can have some effect on your mood. But our summers a great! But really, lots of countries have a higher suicide rate, like Belgium, Finland, Switzerland and Austria.

Few people on this planet have freedom of religion. Living without religion, is a morbid joke in countries where apostasy means a death sentence.
