THANK YOU!!! This video is outstanding!!! I was trying to find a way for my son to comprehend reducing fractions. This was the video out of many my son and I watched that he could actually understand the process. It helped to keep him focused with the changing scenes. Great Job!!... :)
As soon as he said" Can this fraction be reduced or MADE SMALLER?????? I knew this was useless. Reducing does not change the size of the fraction. Why not just write 9⧸12 and then make it smaller ⁹/₁₂ ? I did it with no math. Now it is smaller.
@Lily235 I know you're a brilliant person but can you please tell me how you can change any number without doing math? Do you know the definition of "Math"? Please enlighten me with your profound wisdom. I eagerly await your reply.
@RoadsideRon I was facetiously objecting to your use of the word "smaller." 9/12 is an equivalent expression for 3/4 and quite frankly I did not change it by reducing it in size in my previous example, nor have I changed it now. I simply expressed it a different way. As far as doing math without any math, I am not sure what you mean. I can reduce fractions with a model, diagram, or even objects. I do not have to use division of common factors or any other numbers to see that it is 3/4.
hahaha, nice methot, but that's Easy easy easy. I have an exam on mathematics monday :'(, & all the logarithlic derivative , also limits & fonctions & also reliable economic mathematics are something else, so study this kids, you will realise later that's not that hard :p
I cover that in my full length video on fraction arithmetic which you can watch free of charge for a limited time. Just choose the "One Play" option. As long as there is no price next to it, that means you can view it free of charge.

My problem here is that I can't think quickly enough or my mind seems to go blank when I try to think about what numbers go evenly into the numerator or the demoninator. I was never good with my multiplication and could never memorize them all. So I think that may be the draw back. I understand the steps for the most part here to reduce but I think it's just that trying to find out all the numbers that go into the Numerator/denominator evenly so I can continue with the problem.
I'm in the process of creating a chart that will list all of the divisors and two by two multiples of all of the numbers from 1 to 80. I already use this in my fractions class and it works very well for people who never memorized the times tables. I will post that video when I'm finished with it.
Thanks! As that was/is my biggest problem with math when I went through highschool. I could never memorize everything as teachers expected me to and I ended up having teacher after teacher try to get me to memorize the times tables instead of teaching me the step by steps of on going math. So I fell behind...Here I am with a college book with answers on the back and sitting there looking at all these videos and trying to study and trying to figure out how I get these answers.
I have that problem as well, either that or a bunch of numbers get jumbled in my head, then when I find the number I am looking for I forget the rest of the steps involved. I wonder if there is such a thing as being dyslexic with math or numbers, because if so I Most definatly have it..
AND what is really bad is I am starting college in the fall, and I graduated highschool 10 years ago..lol so this is really frustrating and tough on me.
THANK YOU SO MUCH

@Ilir7777 I totaly agree, once you get into the bigger mathmatics, you look back at this and laugh at how hard it used to be.

what about if you reduce but the numerator is bigger than the denominator?
