  • Guide Dog Maniac congratulations on winning LAWEBFEST!

  • is seth fully blind because he seems to bee able to see a little

  • @45bindy Yes he had a little bit sight.

  • Seth passed away 22 Jan 2011. He was my nephew and one really wonderful guy. Please give to help these people train these dogs. They make an incredible impact on the lives of these folks. Diabetes is a terrible disease. Seth was 40 years old.

  • very nice. ..I love it when the pup finally gets it and so all you have to do is refine them. ..it makes life easier :) Ricki is doing great. ...You sure take her a lot of places.. quite a variety too. I take my pup pretty much everywhere with me, but don't take him THAT many places..is that ok?

  • @YOURstalker16 Every puppy is different and some puppies can't handle a great variety of outings. Ricki is just really easy to take anywhere because of her personality and of course her great potty habits. Don't worry if you can't get your puppy out to a large variety of places, he is still learning valuable skills just being out with you.

  • Very exciting.

What does Ricki do during the day? Does she go to work with one of you or her co-raiser?

  • @lsorbo1 I work at night so Ricki goes for walks, runs errends with me or just hangs out at home during the day. She often joins me at work. She spends 1 day a week with my co-raiser who takes her to a first grade class room at the school she works at.

  • Don't you think Rickie might chew plastic bits of the toy bone off and accidentally swallow them??

  • @theawsomepen These toys are made of very hard material and last a very long time. I have some that have been around for a few years.

  • very intersting

  • Woohoo! That's awesome!

  • ENJOYED VERY MUCH!

  • A 12 hour outing? Great job Ricki! :D

  • Great episode! Can't wait for week 40!

  • good luck in the festival!

  • OMG...wow Amie you have done an amazing job. Ricki is so well behaved and growing like a pro. All credit goes to you :-D

Regards to my new dog, I am planning to get golden retriever and as I have heard that they are easy to train. I am kind of nervous about early age of puppy. Its like adopting little baby who is very delicate. One more thing, I am going to work from Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm..will that work for puppy? I will only be able to walk him after my work or play with him.

  • @Minhajc You need to give Ricki some credit, she has a heart of gold and wants to make me happy :) Golden are great dogs. Just beware that bring home a puppy and being gone during the day may delay potty training because a puppy can't hold their bladder for very long, expect accidents.

  • I always have to pee in Japantown.

  • @HesterMcLester I bet, do you go on command?

  • This is SO COOL! Congratulations! I love the footage in this video too. Really creative.

  • @TomboysTv Thanks

  • Great Show!!!! Ricki for President!!!!

  • Guess it's not easy teaching a bird dog to ignore birds!

  • @SaskView it has been a little bit of a challange.

  • VERY WELL DONE LIKE ALWAYS A GREAT SHOW AND THE WINNER IS RICKI DOG OF THE YEAR.............

  • hi Amie! i heard from the show, puppy in training's host colby, if he could usee treats to train Guide dogs, he said no. is that true? oh, and why can't we use treats to train them?

    Great episode!

    ~Emilynne

  • @brocolims Every school is different. We only use food for a couple of commands. Each puppy is treated as an individual and if one is having problems with distractions or fears food will be used on a case by case basis. Guide dogs work because they want to and want to please you. For most working dogs praise is enough. We want guide dogs to work because they love it, not because they are being coaxed by food.

  • sorry to bother you again but how do you teach them to go in a special spot

  • @jobecjobec we teach them to go on on command and where ever we tell them to.

  • When will Ricki's training be done?

I'll miss Ricki when the time comes :(

  • @flaper41 I'm not sure how much longer. it could be anywhere from 4-6 more months. We will let the viewers know as soon as we know. Sometimes it will be on very short notice.

  • It's amazing how much Ricki has matured. You're doing a fantastic job training her. Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see whats coming up next week. :D

  • Amie You look Great in every vid, but this vid? Wow! (Imagine if you pulled up in the Charger) Daaaannnng Girl! (psst... Don't tell Chappy I said that) LOL :)

  • @3BricksHigher Hahaha, What can I say, Chappy finally gave me an excuse to get out of my jeans and t-shirt :)

  • Great job at the film festival. Ricki is really well behaved.

  • soon enough, theres going to be a feature film about ricki!

  • Poopi ricki!

  • Amie, you looked so pretty! Another awesome video, always love seeing your videos (:

  • @reysside Thanks :)

  • It's funny seeing Bamboo by the bamboo trees.

  • Good job Ricki! 12 hours is a long outing. That must have been tough to stay calm and focused. Amie, do you work with Ricki to go to the bathroom on the cement? That's one of the things we work on with our puppies and I've had some that really do not want to go on the cement.

  • @ckmorita Ricki will go on cement without any problems, but there were a lot of people relaxing and hanging out where we were and I was trying not to leave a puddle of pee in front of anyone. I have had some puppies that would refuse to go anywhere but home or on grass, it makes things really difficult.
