  • @mayureshkarandikar i don't want 2 compare her wid any other actress..... specially new actresses......

    bt may b madhuri dixit.......

  • @5Mitali Madhuri has nothing on her. shes much more beautiful than her.

  • Album: Mughal E Azam

    Year: 1960

    Track: Mohe Panghat Pe

    Singer: Lata

Album Star Cast: DilipKumar Madhubala PrithvirajKapoor

    Track Star Cast: Madhubala

  • please..fans of Madhubala...lets get together on facebook and cherish her on her facebook page (search Madhubala).

  • wow how time have changed, the muslim's were the most powerful religion and clan in india back then, with the Mughal empire and all. but they all went back to pakistan. the classic urdur which like a mix of farsi and hindi during the mughal era was soo beautiful

  • all lyricists dead ? ...none writes such hindi poetry ... hindi in its pure form is par excellence ....it is sweet like nectar .... lata rendered so well in classical form rag Gara

  • Tragic life .... That idiot kishore kumar also tortured her.... he was greatest singers of his time but in personal life he was F'ed up guy

Beautiful lady. No doubt there was none equal her in indian cinema.... You should also see her close shots from guru dutt movie mr mrs 55 ... man... only rarely such beauties are born

  • WELL WELL ...why so many useless discussion on her ancestry ? .... and muslimss only like muslims ? .... stop living like retards you fools. She was an indian. PERIOD.

enjoy the beautiful hindi poetry rendered in Rag Gara ..... you will not find so many tunes or Rag in any other language ...now learn something new and enjoy it .... India is not a nomadic civilization like many other .... India was and will be aristocratic and intellectual hindu with great vedic traditions.

  • the scene after this song is probably the most enchanting scene in the history of film making!

  • what a sweet pair... so much in love... were perfect for each other... they should not have cared for Madhu's father....

  • Thumbs up if u r listening this song in 2011 :)

  • is she afghan??? omg, that explain mush, becouse indian ppl are dark!

    NICE!!:D

  • @ZahraAfghani OMG, the media has really stereotyped the Indian skin colour as being uniformly muddy! It very much depends on where you're from in India! Those closest to the equator tend to be darker, and those close to the Himalaya's and northern most regions tend to be a little fairer.

  • no one compete her wow,,, she is superb a brilliant actress,, i pray dat her soul rest in peace

  • @RainCastle88 : her grandparents were member of the Nawabi family of Kabul, branch of the royal dynasty of the Mohammadzai (called also Barakzay)

  • extraordinarly beautiful...

  • 25 ppl are ugly as shit and are jealous of beauty ;)

  • @killerwaz88 she was born in new Delhi though her family was from Kabul so technically she was still Indian. Her grandparents were exiled by afghan's to India despite being member of royal clan.

  • @jinalkothari21 Anyone, please share with me and all Madhubala's fan. Madhubala was of Pashtun ethnicity. I just wanna know whether she did know how to converse in Pashtun or not and whether the family converse in Pashtun with each other? ;-)

  • @jinalkothari21 wooww...good..tell us more abt her..whts her real name ad name of her royal clan...

  • "true indian beauty.." ??? she was from freaking Kabul you stupid singh

  • voooooooooooow!!!!!!!! madhubala is just amazing, true indian beauty...

  • I paused at 2:57,simply marvellous & unmatchable beauty.

  • AISH IS MORE BEAUTIFUL

  • True natural single beauty! =)

  • I love this song, how she dance and what a superrrr voice.

  • @unitedcoloursofAfg

Let that be current day Afghan or Pak or Indian - basically all of them are ethnic Indians. After failed effort to conquer India Alexander great left Seleucus with provinces west of Indus., Selucus gave daughter in matrimony and provinces west of Indus that includes current day Afghan to emperor Chandragupta around 315 BC. That's the reason it’s all India. Please refer “Geography of Strabo H.C (Circa 24 AD), by Hamilton, & Seleukos Nikator by John Grainger .

  • Waaw. Beautiful song.Beautifully picturised. I know those days will never come again. This movie is a trademark of bollywood. Its indian, Its real, It's FANTASTIC. Request to directors and music composers, Releae this kind of movies.Eternal beauty of Madhubala ji. Please get a script with Rekha or Madhuri. After Madhubala, I think only these people can do.

  • her blouse looks short and weird

  • The whole Hindu-Muslim banter is juvenile guys, seriously, give it a rest. It was quite common in the Mughal court to have a Hindu Radha-Kishan themed dance routine as you know, Jodha, Akbar's empress, was Hindu herself. You can see this in shots of Jodha's expressions in this song itself.

  • this song is very louzzzyyy

  • the beauty of Indian cinema

  • the beuty of indian cinema

  • i am amazed , who are those 23 people who disliked this song. they must be really sick persons !

  • lól_Ì_feél_sô_lônëlY_tÕDàÿ

  • It's so crazy that she danced all the dance scenes even though she had a severe heart problem!!!

  • its so sad that madhubala died only after 2 years this movie got released.....if she was here beside me, she would be overwhelmed by seeing this song being replayed at least a hundred times :))

  • Maybe not a Dancing Diva - but she did have a serious heart condition - she can just be beautiful for all I care!

  • She was the third generation of her family born in India. As you can see from the info below. Also, her name was Mumtaz Jahan Dehalvi also alternatively called Madhubala Daryaganj. Dilip kumar's father was a Hindko speaking fruit merchant from Peshawar who owned fruit orchards in Peshawar and near Nashik, Maharashtra(then Bombay State). Dilip kumar was spotted working in a military canteen in Pune where his family had settled by Devika Rani's husband and was offered a film.

  • she was one of the most most most beautiful woman on dis earth.....

i m so touched by her real life story.....

actually a movie should be made about her life.....

  • @5Mitali I so agree, but such a tragic life

  • @5Mitali and who do you suppose can play her ???

  • Ragam: Gara

  • no person on earth looks morbidly(sexually attracted) towards this song & heroine.

    vasu

  • oo man i am in love with this song n video. I really have to watch Mugle Azam now..I have seriously shocked my self,.... i thought i would never like any movie from Black n White era.. srry for offending such an illustrous era. HONESTLY

  • i wndr 2 b born on those days..

  • awesome...dance. with superb gestures..

  • madhubala - the damsel of honey and the eternal beauty. My god just look at her face. If only she was born in this era. she would give every aishwarya and katrina a run for their money.

  • @sabbirsa

    hi jealous pigggggggggggggggg

  • @sexyboy9992 Hello Kuttar bachcha? Khanki magir bacha. beshar bacha. How are you? did you wanna join me next time I fuck your mamma? and why would I be jealous of Madhubala? I just said she is the "damsel of honey" the epitome of Indian beauty. And her reincarnation would be Madhuri dixit.

  • @sabbirsa

I hope you do know she was not indian at all in terms of ethnicity, so calling her the epitome of Indian beauty would be a misunderstanding on your part. she was of Afghan descent however she accepted the Indian Nationality, having resided there, most of her life. To me the epitome of Indian beauty would be Rekha, or present day Sushmita Sen.

  • @unitedcoloursofAfg look up honey 3rd generation indian ok, born & bred here and made famous here because of her talent which was fine tuned here in india. as for u comparing that last hooker to The divine Madhubala, go smoke something up it will clear ur brain.

  • @unitedcoloursofAfg

  • @vidyasagars

Well, ethicity means to have a common language, common culture and common ancestry. We dont have the same language, we have sort of the same culture(we differ in terms of religion for the most part), In terms of ancestry, Afghans are known as Greco-Bactrians or Aryan, whereas, India is known as Indo-Aryan. A lot of neighbouring cultures influenced the Afghan culture (including the Indian) But Afghan Culture also influenced India like the Mughal Empire, the name of this film.

  • @vidyasagars

You see, I don't have anything against Indians at all, The very fact that I am watching Hindi films shows that I love the Indian culture, but what bothers me is when people start to ammalgamate the Afghan identity with Indian indentity, the two are different and unique. You should appreciate that an ethnic Afghan woman such as Madhubala chose to learn your language, call India home and find a special place in your hearts by becoming such a respected Hindi film star.

  • @unitedcoloursofAfg she may have afghan ancestry, but she is indian, born in india, and followed indian cultural norms such as language and culture. many indians are immigrants or descendant from immigrants. Sonia gandhi, the leader of a major political party in india, was born in italy, but she too is indian. she indianized herself, and she is a citizen. Madhubala is an indian, end of discussion.

  • @sabbirsa

    hi MADARCHOD.

    whts going on?

  • @sabbirsa Actually, both Aishwarya and Katrina cannot hold a candle to Madhubala - look at her facial expressions which say more than any words or songs. That is real acting that one look can speak volumes.

  • @had79gul Aishwarya and Katrina cannot even come close to Madhubala's feet. lolll And Katrina???!!! That girl is a horrible actor. loll She is just a pretty face and a fad. once that dries up like a dried apricot (lol) she is gone.

  • @sabbirsa absolutely. By mistake I voted your comment down. actually i wanted to vote it up.

  • What a beautiful woman and such exquisite dancing.Lata at her best Bravo! Great compostion by Naushad!

  • and just imagine this was filmed in 1963 and re colourized madhubala is the best

  • farishta.

  • Kollywood singer Swarnalatha has sung this song in the tamil movie Anarkali released in 2006 .She has sung it more beautiful than Latha Mangeshkar.Watch it out!

  • She is angel. She is eternal beauty. She is the best actress ever. Don't fight for her religion and origin. just enjoy God's beautiful creation.

  • She is angel. She is eternal beauty. She is the best actress ever.

  • Great song with best pictuerizing .........

  • sure here dancing was not as wild and did not have as many moves, but her costume was far better and her singing too. I felt while watching this that I was actually hearing Indian music...the stuff today is good, but I felt that the stuff here is older and far more into the culture maybe...idk. Comment on this if I am wrong.

  • Ever green.

  • she was sweet, although she was not indian decent(pathan) guy who downloaded it distorted the video, but audio is great

  • @bazlur What is India, Pakistan and Afghanistan are man-made political borders. Madhubala was Pashtun from Afghanistan but Pashtuns also live in Pakistan. We should include her as a native. Including is always better than separating, I think.

  • @karunamrita Madhubala was from Daryaganj, Delhi. She was NOT from Afghanistan. Her family was Pathan though, Indians for centuries.

  • @saabz8 madhubala and dilip, both are originally from Peshawar, and Pathans

  • @guljay Madhubala was born as Mumtaz Jahan Begum DEHALVI in Darya Ganj, Delhi, India on 14 February 1933 in a family of pashtun descendants, members of the Nawabi family of Kabul, branch of Barakzay tribe, her Great grandparents were exiled to India by then Afghan king. They then settled in Delhi in what was the remnants of the mughal empire. Dilip Kumar was born Md Yusuf Khan at Mohallah Khudadad in Peshawar, British India on Dec 11, 1922 to a Hindko-speaking(not Pashto) Peshawari family.

  • she was sweet, although she was not indian decent(pathan)

  • 22 people need to get a reality check. how can no one appreciate this? a wonderful actress (may she rest in peace) dancing quite wonderfully, as simple as the dance seems, and beautiful lyrics supplied by the legendary lata mangeshkar. both extremely accomplished women. a beautiful song to a classic film. love this!

  • i just wonder...we have got hot figured actresses showing more and more with kinda wild looking dances...but still watching such songs of alluring beauties such as madhu bala and meena kumari makes me feel more entertained

  • 22 people are mortified!

  • I am so glad to see so many pleasing comments!!! Thumbs up!

  • madhubala defines indian sensuality.

  • SHE WAS SUCH A POOR DANCER SRIDEVI OR MADHURI COULD HAVE MADE THIS PERFORMANCE HISTORY

  • @kwachuh01

it is not her dancing - the choreography is much less subdued and more refined compared to the exaggerated movements of today

  • wow what a memerising scene at 1:24-1:33 ,looks like real vrindavan with all the gopis with Radha(Madhubala) singing in the centre....just awesome..!!

  • a piece of work of a muslim director, producer "K.Asif " who finished this movie in $2 million where as that time avg indi movie use to cost about $20,000 to make ,no one even want to know who made this movie sad!!

  • truly classic n stunning. may she rest in peace. a sweet oldie. thanx 4 sharin.

  • Madhuabala's luminous presence, her command of the screen, her smile, the natural grace and subtlety of expressions is unmatched today. Bollywood may never produce another actress of her calibre.

  • us zamanay ka itam song

or ajj ka itam song munni badnam howi lolzz

  • My favourite song.I was 10 when I first heard this fabulous melody. It touched my heart at time. My father went to London in 1965 and on his way back after two months, he had a tape recorder with some pre recorded cassettes. This marvelous song was among them. I was not aware at that time that this song was picturised on Madhubala. When I saw Mughle Azam, I was stunned and speech less. A personification of Indian feminine beauty of the screen. No doubt she is adoreable.(22nd December 2010)

  • long story short: THE indian Marylin Monroe. forget Madhuri + all the other operated Barbie-faces. THIS is sexapeal (+ i say that as a woman). if i was a man, i'd die 4 her

  • luv the lyrics

  • And dilip was such an arsehole who never married her

  • Dileep waited for her for seven years. But she was the only breadwinner of the family, and her father did not want her to marry.

  • I wonder how bollywood would have been if it was not for muslims heroines? Waheeda Rahman, Madhu Bala, Meena Kumari, Hema Malini, Reena Roy, Zeenat Aman, Mumtaz, Asha Parakh, Sharmila Tag, Praveen Bobby, Nargis, Saira bano and the list goes on.

  • Real Beauty......

  • Madhubala were not the most beautiful women in India but she can to make melt an Iceberg just with her Smile!!!

All the arabs countries love bollywood movies, you are the best!!!

  • this is unbelievable......astounding

  • I still enjoy Mugal e Azam even after veiwing a hundred times.

  • She was the most beautiful woman of Hindi cinema.

  • very moving and beautiful ;

  • The unmistakable sitar melodies of Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffer Khansaheb. Yet another luminary to at to the constellation of classical music artists summoned for this production!

  • one off the best song from mughal e azam , madhubala done superb acting specially the song sing in the movie _ Mohe Panghat Pe nandlal ... real song by lata ..

  • What a voice, what a composition, what a beauty, amazing costume!!! Overall one of my all time favorites!!!

  • At least in the song Pyar kiya to darna kya, foot work was not Madhubala's but that of a Kathak-learning boy.

  • Nice vid. Looks like a place Captain Kirk would visit

  • @shads24 Sure it is.:)

  • I particulary just love the look she gives at 3:04- I mean "Haye!" main toh fida hogaya and I'm gay!! haha :P

  • This is beautiful. I want to become a Hindu too!

  • @MaIcoImZieI lol...this character of her is not hindu... both reel and real life she was a muslim!

  • @zairt

She was Muslim???? How can she be Muslim in real life and she is singing about the birth of Krishna - and how he grabs the wrist of his beloved...and breaks the pot of water she carries...and she complains of his methods of love. And Krishna is a god of the Hindus?!??!

  • @YemeniteOriginals

She was a muslim. Her real name was Mumtaz. But she married a Hindu - the legendary singer Kishore kumar. In this film she plays the role of Anarkali, a Kaneez or slave girl. It happens in India. Arabs won't understand.

  • @swamykool

Oh, I'm sorry - I'm not an Arab. I'm actually Jewish. But, I do understand a lot about Islam and studied many parts of it. And I do know that Muslim females are not allowed to marry non-Muslim males...it's just something that caught my attention.

  • @swamykool

...perhaps this is something Hindus will neither understand. But, oh well.

  • @YemeniteOriginals I am A hindu so can i play the part of ALLAH U will come an check me or what..;;;>>>

  • @BJ7522RA

huh? sorry I don't speak cow.

  • @YemeniteOriginals One other aspec of this is that the dance form Kathak was replete with stories of Krishna and the gopis--it may even have evolved just to tell those stories (but I know very little about kathak history). It was adopted as a court dance by the later Mughals--Lucknow/Delhi/Banaras and many of the symbolic gestures were converted to secular ones--e.g. Krishna's flute became an entircemnet. Muslims, you see, cannot clean out a 10000 year old culture much as they would like.

  • @zairt and what does that mean, this dance was Hindu, she was playing as Radha. What does that say about her Muslimness?

  • @kumarsa108 well that was comment i made ages ago..anyways i meant her role in the film and personally she's muslim..nodoubt this dance is based on Radha....nothing else

  • @zairt lol personally she is dead.

  • @kumarsa108 that means personally lol u lost

  • @MaIcoImZieI In the movie, the royal family were Muslim conquerors and so was Anarkali! In real life Madhubala was a Muslimina and so was Dalip Kumar! [This is not meant to insult my Hindu brothers and sisters! [I love you guys too!]

  • Comment removed

  • @AmirMian90 Anarkali was a peasant girl not a ruler, that was the whole point of the film and as for muslim, yup not the orthodox kind thats for sure as this was Kathak and the influence as in this dance was predominanty Hindu, which is what Malcolm saw; A woman dancing as Radha.
