Actually variable valve timing with electronic lift control is motorcycle technology applied to automobiles and since honda was originally a motor cycle company at their start. Hemi means Hemispherical which is half of a circle on the underside of the heads where valves are located and has nothing to do with valve movement.

I own a Viper and I give much respect to this NSX. Running 12.7 is very impressive for an NSX. However; running 12.9 for a Viper and only trapping 113 is mediocre. They are rated at 12.1-12.3 from the factory. Never-the-less, the NSX won at this match up and that is all that matters.

Last I checked American muscle always beat Imports...in the 90's. The Viper is a great car with a lot of lineage on the track(ACR on the road course and obviously the drag strip). The McLaren F1's handling was based off of the NSX and its chassis was 50% stiffer than any supercar made at the time. I wouldn't mind owning either, but I grew up road racing imports and I'll stick with it. Nothing's cheaper for the amount of fun anyone can have. I own a 91 NSX and have driven a Viper. I understand why Viper owners love em. The raw power is to die for. Its really up to preference on which car you like better. Neither car sucks. I just enjoy the way the Acura corners. I live in Omaha NE and see a couple viper owners I get the thumbs up and they give me the thumbs up as well.
