Mr. Byner is a GENIUS! THIS is what comedy is all about, LAdies and Gentleman! My, how comedy has changed - but THIS is how it's done! Master, as Dave says, in EVERY sense of the word!
John Byner did the voices from 'The Ant and the Aaardvark' cartoons. The aardvark character sounded similar to Jackie Mason and the ant character was similar to Dean Martin.
I remember back in the '70s when he was a guest on the Carol Burnett show. There was one sketch where he came on as Donald Duck, and the premise was that Disney was finally "letting him go" after thirty years of faithful service. Harvey Korman was laughing so hard he could barely deliver his lines, and I was literally rolling on the floor with laughter (I must have been 17 or 18 at the time). Byner is an absolute comic genius!

John Byner's "Bizarre Show" was my favourite telly show back in the 80s. It was hilarious from start to closing credits and I always disconnected the phone on Thursday nights because that was when it was on the tube. John is the funniest guy around!
@batman4oz, you're absolutely right about Paul. He's an excellent musician, but his idea of banter... He thinks he's being ironic, but the 'irony' and the joke is on Paul himself--he's not funny. Musically, he is hip: he knows different styles, he can play them well. His skill on that end is legitimate. But he thinks if he wears outlandish wear, a la Doc Severinsen, that that will make him a hip personality. Nope!
Oh my gosh, I love this guy. He was such a staple of my teenage years. The Johnny Mathis impersonation was always my favorite back in the 70's. I'm glad he is alive and doing well.
He struggled on Mathis. He used to do that impression a lot on Bizarre. He does an excellent Mason, that was the same voice he used when he was on the Pink Panther show and played the Aardvark, the Ant was his Dean Martin voice. He does Dean really well.
It was like watching a recording session for "The Ant and the Aardvark" cartoon!

I remember once seeing John Byner as Donald Duck doing an impression of John Wayne -- one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life.

When Paul is talking, is Dave pissed off when he says, "That's right, Paul"?

Great act! His impressions were right on the money. And what an appropiate theater for Byner to be doing that bit.
