My instructor's instructor, Grandmaster Yoo Jin Kim taught us the forms of Japanese Karate--he referred to his system as "Karate" as well as "Tae Kwon Do" and "Ji Do Kwan." Yoo Jin Kim's instructor, Sang Sup Chun, founder of the Ji Do Kwan, studied Japanese Karate in Japan under Gichen Funakoshi. We do Karate by way of Korea.
Jidokwan isn´t a Karate system, but Taekwondo martial art. Karate is for just Japanese martial arts.
