@RIPPIMPC08 Well, obviously you're taking the world a bit too seriously, then. People like you make me appreciate the fact that I live a happy and carefree life in a beautiful area of California, and surround myself with positive, open-minded people. Come on now.
@MikeDaooo A sense of individual style and an open-mind doesn't determine one's sexual preference. Let's see, I started wearing Supreme after watching a film from Larry Clark and Harmony Korine by the name of "Kids". A story about the mentality and lost youth of multiple skaters in a 1990's New York City. After further research about how all of these real life NYC kids had a big connection to a brand called Supreme, I Learned much more about it and found a new favorite clothing company.
tyler is straight ...earl is a lot better. title fight is the shit ... check out tigers jaw and man overboard if you have then AWESOME if not there both pretty amazing.
Cool vid, and cool music choices. I actually especially liked the Kendrick Lamar suggestion you replied to someone's comment. Never heard of him before. Now I have some new artists I can listen to! :) Thanks for posting and sharing!
Awesome video!! Hey could you maybe review my track back to London. I think you would like it's mix of rap/blues/rock and the musical depth of it. If not keep up the work!! Great video and album recommendations!!
BTW Mystic Stylez is like ghetto horrorcore, as to where most horrorcore sounds a little rock influenced, plus they have the best producers hip hop has ever seen IMO, they use a lot of horror movie samples but with drum patterns that will break your fuckin neck.
Do you like Primus? Their new album Green Naugahyde is what I'm lookin most for this year. They played one of their new songs when I saw them on acid at Bonaroo its on youtube I think. They also released an EP last year with just google 2010 primus rehearsal.
Sitting in my room with a razorblade thinking all my days are played as much as my single needs to fade away. shoot myself in the arm and start bleeding dont wanna go yet stick a straw in my wound and taste my heart beeting.
movies for the blind is cage's best album..hell's winter is decent..my favorite producers are dilla, 9th wonder, madlib, rjd2, blockhead, flying lotus..
Never Quite Free by the Mountain Goats is seriously one of my favorite songs right now. You seem to be a really cool guy. I appreciate the fact that you don't conform. Keep up the good work-Alexis.
I have no issues with people "selling out". If I was a rapper...and wish I was. Id sell out too. In a heartbeat. And Yessss I saw that interview...I meant underground as the genre not just Tyler. Underground hiphop is the new mainstream. I wasn't beefing with you...just stating my opinion. And slipknot yes. There a huge gimmick group. Especially with the Satan stuff....which is fine buutttt I rep it for baby jesus. Im a rhymesayers kinda guy...that's all im sayingggg dweebs.
For the sake of art....chhhaaaa right?!?!?! Its called for the sake of making money. Underground is the new mainstream. Odd future is the new slipknot.
@themikeyfresh88 Hahaha, but Tyler never said he wanted to remain an underground musician forever. In fact, during an interview for The Drone he said "I'm hungry for VMAs and Grammys. That's my main goal. Fuck this underground bullshit." Not that OF needs money anyway. They get all the clothes they want from skate/streetwear stores around LA for free. Do a little research before you instantly jump to the conclusion that someone is selling out. Slipknot... really?
'jesus called he said he tired of all the disses, i told him to quit his bitchin this aint no fuckin hot line" whoop whoop juggalo for life dont like it eat a DICK BITCH!
Huge fan of your brothers and now a huge fan of yours! Love the albums way to stick with what makes you you and not listen to all the haters out there!
...and just in case you aren't into music in its typical forms, it sounds like Shawn will be releasing an album of burps and farts in the near future, lol
You should check out James Blake's debut album. Also, Bon Iver's new album leaked. I highly recommend that. I think you might like them if you haven't listened to them already! :D!
@Dweebo1234 The official release date is June 21st. I REALLY dug it. Definitely keep a look out for it if you like them. I always try to avoid leaks too, but then I can't take the anticipation even more. So, I just give in and download them. Lol. If I like it enough, I'll usually end up buying it too. Like, I'm for sure going to buy this when it comes out.
@TheDpolenz It varies. For the most part just open-minded girls with similar interests to my own. Intelligence, appearance, and fashion sense are always relevant as well though.
This year has been awesome for new music Title Fight's new record is fantastic. Goblin is a great hip hop record as well. I am into Cage's early work but he has really gone downhill IMO. We really have the same taste in music though. You need to check out the new Touché Amoré and Balance & Composure records so fucking gnarly. Have you heard of the band Defeater? they have put out one of my fav Hardcore records in years.
@HoAx000 Definitely! Yeah, Cage is always changing his style, but I can't blame him now that he's drug free and has a child. It's been said that his new album will be more like Movies for the Blind though, which definitely has me interested. Those are all great bands. Defeater is amazing. Easily some of the deepest lyrics I've heard from the hardcore genre.
Nice, I've been getting into Goblin too. Glad to see you like quality bands like Title Fight too. Hopefully seeing them next weekend. Have you heard of Make Do And Mend? That's another great band.
Yay, new video! :) Anyway, I'm not much into indie or hip-hop (I'll give it a try), but I have two recommendations that you might like. First is Damien Rice and he is a folk-sy singer (is that even a word?! Lol) from Ireland and he's really good and has a nice voice that is relaxing. Second is Flyleaf and they are a metal/rock band and the lead singer is a female and she has an AMAZING voice.
That's all I can think of, lol. I mostly listen to ambient/new age music like Engima and Delerium.
lol you might be the first and only person to call Goblin "fun." I recommend Dr. Octagonecologyst by Dr. Octagon. it's similar to Goblin in its dark tone, but much more impressive imo
I was a little disappointed with the new Title Fight album but the rest of the stuff you named is good. This year hasn't been the greatest for pop punk so far, but that'll probably change once the summer comes. I'm really pumped for the new TWY album.
i have some albums maybe i think youd like. first off its cherry peel by of montreal, tomboy by panda bear, sound kapital by handsome furs (its not out yet, but ive already heard it), strawberry jam by animal collective, gorrila manor by local natives, the fool by warpaint, and expo 86 by wolf parade. that should get you through some weeks of music.
Let me recommend someone for you: Elzhi! He just dropped a free mixtape called "Elmatic" that pays homage to Nas' "Illmatic" & it is superb! All of the beats are re-played live. Elzhi is a real lyricist too, so feel free to google it, Download, & listen....great vid!
I feel so old watching this! I'm a half-a-second from saying:
"Oh, what the fuck happened to this world?"
Like my grandfather used to say. Then unleashing the fury of CAPSLOCK:
THERE IS ONLY ONE RETURN AND IT AIN'T THE KING IT'S THE JEDI
hahaha. No, in all seriousness, good vid. Not a fan of the music, but hey it's your generation's thing. Youth is king. So enjoy it. I am and old curmudgeon bastard that's going to seal himself off in a room from 1994.
@TheFaustianMan '94 for life. There really is some good new music out there though- Warpaint, Broken Bells, Chris Thile and Michael Daves, Blood Orange etc. You just gotta keep your ears open!
It kind of concerns me that they sell Goblin at Target. From what I've heard from it so far (Singles mainly; don't own it yet, but I like a lot off of his debut), it's pretty disturbing for unsuspecting mass consumers. :|
You should check out John Frusciante's first solo album Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt. His VPRO interview on Youtube will give you an idea how crazy that album is.
@Dweebo1234 oh god Yes!!, i absolutely love The Mighty Boosh, Noel Fielding is one of my fave comedic actors. if you havent already check these. SPACED. THE FAST SHOW. BLACKADDER (any season past the first, Ben Elton joined after the first season and transformed it) LITTLE BRITAIN. IT CROWD. MAN STROKE WOMEN (fucking HILARIOUS) MEN BEHAVING BADLY (very 90's but still amazing comedy, esp season 1) BRASS EYE. PEEP SHOW (must see) LEAGE OF GENTLEMEN (pure genius) PSYCHOVILLE :)
Sweet Ethan I've heard of Fleet Foxes & Title Fight but not the others I'll give them a listen. Some of my friends we're recommending me Tyler The Creator he has a unique style indeed. Id recommend checking out "Japandroids" band from Vancouver. Way up your alley :) So pumped for new TITLE FIGHT! getting that album asap. I think you've found your element Dweebo.
@TheBSKILL Will do, man! Yeah, Title Fight is always putting out quality stuff. Such a fun band, especially in the summer. Thanks, I definitely had fun with this idea, so I'll have to do more in the future.
@Dweebo1234 I would definitely have to agree with that statement. Summer for sure. Hell, would be great to see at a Warped Tour or outdoor show too. Yeah man, it's always refreshing to see others that are passionate about the music like I am. Keep'r going :)
Listen to new albums from Fucked Up, Liturgy, Starfucker, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Yuck, Times New Viking, Bon Iver, Kurt Vile, Death Grips, Mogwai, Destroyer, and Wormrot. Those are the best of 2011
check out manchester orchestra if you haven't. I recently got into them and they're great. I recently got the new fleet foxes cd as well and it's really awesome. Gonna check out the other artists you recommended!
@Dweebo1234 very good album. i got simple math, heatlessness blues, and my morning jackets new album all on the same day. i was overwhelmed with great music
@Rawp90Extream Love Trapped Under Ice! One of my favorite local hardcore bands from back when I lived near Baltimore. Ruiner has always been one of my favorites as well.
