Research bankruptcy laws: companies that big don't just go under, they go into restructuring and debt reorganization. The bailout was a two-part ploy: (a) the environmentalists got to take over the car industry and force them to make more environmentally-friendly but less profitable and desirable vehicles; (b) the loss of union jobs under restructuring was prevented.

If they didnt bail them out, Our car dealers would go under, Service Centers and LOCAL car dealers would go under, which means Foreign countries would buy our car dealers. When Clinton ran he ran on Rx reform. The more it looked like he would win the more Rx stock crashed. He got elected, and as soon as he announced that he was not going after big Rx the stock went right back up.

Obama ran on taking money from the rich, and the rich started to hide their money. The more it looked like he would win the more stocks dropped.
Obama caused the stocks to crash with his threats.
