  • Hayseed dixie are brilliant, ive seen them live and would happily go see them again

  • that was bad ass...these guys rock :D

  • Way too fast

  • Fucking hillbillies killed it

  • Does anyone know if Hayseed Dixie has a studio version of this, instead of all this shitty live "performance" shot with a camera-phone from 1999 ??

  • cant even fuckin' hear this, sound blows

  • These guys are awesome!!!! xx

  • These guys are VERY serious musicians. The banjo and mandolin players are sons of renown banjo player, Don Reno. Before DVD if you wanted to learn guitar, you got a Mel Bay book. If you wanted to learn banjo, you bought a Don Reno book. This is great music, very difficult to play and damn fun to listen to.

  • Going to see them in less than 24 hours! TESTIFY!!!!!

  • these guys RULE! lol.

  • Ha! This is actually alot fun. Great cover!

  • Don't try this at home kids!

  • YouTube comments (mostly) aren't even peanut gallery - pinhead gallery

  • You have to give them promps on the skill of picking

  • @the3rdjoker did you mean to write that comment in english and say "props"?

  • Yihaa!!

  • WOW, that's pickin!

  • "So bad it's good?" Ok, @brianmayguitarist, ga 'head, let's see you play bluegrass like that...accurately and in time....

  • ya gotta know that they have some fat bottomed girls in dixie.

  • An inspired rendition - another fine example of Queen's appeal across all genres.

  • YAWN!!

  • this is aload of shit! but its so bad its good! hahaha

  • These guys bluegrass like muthafuckers .. genius !

  • I saw Hayseed at the Festival Too in King's Lynn, free of charge! I got a beer bottle one of them had drank from, and they all signed my shirt! They've got a lot of time for their fans, and this is what seperates them from all the other big time bands.

  • awesome!!!

  • Even as a Queen fan, I'd have to say this is awesome. These guys are talented.

  • Come on, bass player - get a real (read: upright) bass.

  • speed twang!

  • These guys are legend. (and I'm a queen fan)

  • i think it is kool as hell i love bluegrass and rock this is the best of both worlds

  • We have to take everything with a little humor... and this guys gives to those songs a really cool tribute....and its sounds great...

  • These guys are serious musicians, their guitar playing ability is unreal, and this isn't really my music preference, i'm in Vai, eric johnson, dream theatre, glenn hughes, all that sort of stuff, but i can appreiciate wot these guys are doing, years of hard work have gone into what they do!

  • OMG....I love this!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw them perform just yesterday here in Holland. I thought they were awsome!

  • They ever come to so cal..I'd love to see them live..

  • SO COOL I WOULD TOTALLY GO SEE THEM!!

  • this is awesome!!!

  • trailer park hardcore!!!!

  • definitely an interesting cover... :D

  • Looked like a lot of fun

  • Crap Queen were a hell lot better

  • of course. This is all for fun

  • @LittleLiamBeckwith I'd like to believe they don't think they're better than Queen. If they do, poo on them.

  • seen them a couple of times, always put on a good show

  • My mandolin teacher told me about these guys. So glad he did.

  • Round here we call this Hillbilly Heavy Metal:-)

  • I JUST LOVE IT!!

  • great voice you should respect the times to enjoi it better. I mean slower not as if you were on the run away .

  • i have seen them last night , really excellent and brilliant show!! wooooowwhhaaaaaaa :DD

  • This is a perfect cover for these guys

  • Good stuff

  • they should do 39 :P

  • another short-minded rock purist

Welcome to the real world ^^

  • Why ruined? The "great rock songs" still exist, so why should this bother you? It's even extra free advertising.

I'm not saying I like this, but it doesn't bother me, and I can laugh about it.

  • i love the original, but i think this is rad too. it proves that's it's a great when it sounds rad on both electric guitar and a banjo.

  • @artnaz in fact the true mark of genius in music is when a piece transcends its genre...

  • @artnaz

may not bother you but it really hurt me

i was laughing so hard i feel like i was punched in the gut lol

  • @artnaz right on

  • Classic!!! I love this song anyway but these guys have made it soooo much funnier!!

  • Love Hayseed Dixie! Keep 'em coming

  • right i forgot queen was one of the greatest country bands of all time....

sorry i was wrong to bash the band as a whole, guys on guitar and banjo did rock the house i never listened to the last half of the song

  • Awesome!

  • EXTRA! EXTRA!

  • You do realize it was kind of a country song to start with, right? I mean how can you even tell much about their musicianship from a cell phone video.

  • country fuckin sucks balls

  • Yeah but this only sucks one ball. The comedy factor sweetens the deal nicely.

  • they got some nice banjo / mandolin chops

  • Haha, i just love this band. Great musicians

  • great job!

  • Are the rumours of a club tour with DWAYNE MCCAIN true ? We need to know???

  • not much audience; he?

  • THAT WAS FUCKING GREAT!

    xD

  • Great adaption of a great queen song!!

  • Ah, Queen: touching hearts and minds across all genres.

  • Whooaaa!

We love this at our place. Sound on this is a bit ropey, but I dare you to listen to the recorded version without wanting to WHOOOAAAA along

  • ehh, Queens better

  • i love bluegrass its always been a part of my life

  • Saw them do this live yesterday in merthyr, south wales support for the QUO. Bloody great! Loved every song......

  • scary thing is that this song actually matches the style of music. when i first heard it i was like... "hey this is kinda catchy ... and it works!"

    so yeah

    loved the video

    luv

    -Elfy xoox

  • usmialam sie :] lol ;P

  • That's well mint.

  • NO!

  • YES!!!!!! :)

  • YEEHAW!!!

  • Love it!

  • that mandalin solo is menatl i would love to be abel to play mandalin like that or eny other in strement

  • Crazy hippie banjo players.

  • hell ya nothin better!

  • Totally cool.

  • Just seen them do this live they're fantastic!

  • It's different! Gotta say that for this what ever it is called! ROFLMAO!

  • they red-neckarized it !

  • the proper term is hillbilified jk lol

  • funny you say that these guys toured a lot with ACDC! and was their opening act for many years!

  • this is the question after watching this video. WTF IS THIS.

  • I always thought "Fat Bottomed Girls" had a country sound to it! XD This is great! I wonder what Brian May would think of it? Judging from how much Queen used to experiment with different styles, the survivors would probably get a kick out of this!

  • They are going way too fucking fast!!!

  • As much as I love hard rock/metal..these guys are amazing..I guess u could say they take the piss (musically) outta most of my faves, but man they do it exceptionally well! Maybe taking the piss is the wrong thing to say cause in most cases these guys are working way harder than the originals did lol. cream/jam and other idiots... can u guys do any of these songs acoustically (even guitar let alone banjo, mandolin, violin, cello, double bass)and nail it like these guys do?

  • Noooooo! They just ruined the song...

  • Don't say that!!! It's not true

  • Great rendition.

  • Differnt than Queen, but I like it! BlueGrass is one of my favorite type of music..

    Can't ''touch Freddie though''

  • ahem! that there is ROCKgrass!

  • Your both right ECWNET and bmsqzy, no one can sing this song better than Freddie

  • I'm not a gigantic fan of this style, but I have to admit their spin on Fat Bottom Girls is pretty cool. Nice job.

  • I totally agree with ECWNET,but this actually is a pretty good go for it!

  • :DDD

    That's beautiful!

  • I like the mandolinist....

  • Like the bass player myself! LOL Funny you mention it!

  • I actually have to agree.

  • with ecwnet

  • maybe it's a bouzouki XD

hey Freak.. get a life man.. rather than tossing shit at ppl who play music, go and play it the way you like and leave us alone..

  • Hey, if you don't want to see opinions, maybe you should stay away from the comments.

  • hahaha... good point I suppose, but still, I really don't see why you're taking it all so seriously.

these guys are having a good time and doing what they do best: entertaining

  • That's all well and good, and I'm sure I'd like them if they would stop trying to "be original" with all these good classic songs, if they would write their own stuff.

It's not that they aren't talented, cause they are, but I think they just need to leave these songs alone.

  • maybe you're right.. but I know what it feels like to play great songs (I'm no great musician.. but playing music feels great)

and yeah, you're right.. cover bands aren't the most original of the lot, but still.. playing covers is a way to remind us that songs with a strong core can be sung in many ways, ans still rock

  • well, you're right, but I'd just perfer a rock n roll song be played like a rock n roll song, but that's just me

  • no, it's not just you.. I admit that coming every time at this page, I realize that it the banjo can get a bit annoying.

it's all about the right song at the right time and in the right dosage.

I could listen to Queen for ever (my playlist will testify)

but I'd listen to Hayseed at a friend's party late, after a few beers or something, definetly not on a regular moment.

anyways man, no hard feelings about the discussion right?

  • Nah, It's all good.

  • Do they think they're being creative speeding it up and putting a banjo and a mandolin in it?

Seriously, leave good music to the good musicians who actually made them good.

  • Fantastic Gig, i was there. One of the best live bands i have ever seen.

  • You know, this song sounds better as a bluegrass cover. I can hear a redneck saying this. But Freddy Mercury? C'mon now.

  • ...these guys are great I love their covers. i'm a huge fan of AC/DC and these guys do a cracking job of covering their songs too. In fact I woudl go so far as to say their music really captures the light heartedness, the "spirit" and "tone" of most of the songs they cover. More power to them.

  • To the few who were negative remember one thing. We all are different and have different preferences. Insulting others for not having the exact same taste or preference as you is fairly pointless. To the rest, I concur. They did a great job changing a song from one genre into a completely opposite genre of music and I happen to enjoy both metal and bluegrass.

  • I love it! This music can transcend all genres!

  • lololol this was awesome! I love me some bluegrass! Reminds me of coronas and BBQ. Keep on rocking

  • they took a familiar song and put into a new context. it's very clever and fun. these guys are all very skilled. you have to be a completely uptight not to like this. shit, they can play a backyard party at my place anytime!

  • you guys have to admit this was at least a little funny.

  • the original kicks ass that sucked

  • This isn't original material. It was written and song by Queen! This suxs!!! "Walk this Way" was written by Aerosmith. I hope they are paying for the rights. This really sucks!

  • It's called a "cover band." We know the songs are done by other artists. Hayseed Dixie performs those songs in a bluegrass style.

  • I was responding to the person who reference original material. I am sorry you have such bad taste. I hope the Lord has mercy on you. I know God I do...It really sucks.

  • It's true.

Fat bottom girl really do make the world go round. Hayseed Dixie Rocks Grass!

  • great band. If you' re into this bluegrass / c&w covers, check out the boss hoss, they' re pretty similar

  • Who wrote I'm Keeping Your Poop in a Jar and She Was Skinny When I Met Her then if they dont do original stuff?

  • Too bad they do a lot of covers and no original material.

  • They do original material... Corn Liquor, I'm Keeping Your Poop in a Jar, She was Skinny When I Met Her and so on...

  • What the ...

    Weird song names xD

  • They're the dogs bollocks

  • i've seen them, thy're great

  • I'm going to see them in a few days =D

  • I'm goin 2 c them 2nite!!!

  • Amazing!!

  • FUCK YEAH
