I love reading RATM comments on youtube. I learn so much. This comment is in reference to the comments talking about the seventh level. Bassically what im trying to say is RATM is doing there job by keeping the public informed and awake. RATM!
Yeah I believe their heart is in the right place. There not perfect. So what. Its hard to keep a band together.Doing all the research. I think about WarPigs then I see Ozzy play a concert for the Royals of England.Theyre the WarPigs of our time.Recently saw Chris Cornell being Knighted by the Queen. If that isnt jumping the Shark what is?
no, he means jumping the shark, its used when a tv show or celebrity does something crazy and ubserd when for attention when people are starting to lose intrest. It came from an episode from an episode of happy days where the fonz jumps over a pool of sharks on water skis
yeah it's where genghis khan and nero struggle to swim in a river of lava continuously burning their flesh. there's also a circle of the homosexuals who are burned by infernal sands and a circle of continuously rotting tree's whose souls are occupied by those who committed suicide. Dante was a serious prick.
its onlin. just look up dante and virgil. they go to hell and visit all the levels. it was written in like the 12th century. it is a very important interpretation on the medieval mind of europeans. look it up
haha im a big fucking fan of Rage Against the Machine....first thing i did when i got my christmas money..was buy the other two albums i needed to have all for xD. Im not a big fan of them live so i didt get it. Killing in the name is a good song but its more of a motavation booster than a song. True fans know songs like Know your enemy and Bullet in your Head and Born of a Borken man and what not...Rage Against the Machine is the shit. We need more music like them. PERIOD.
Goddamn!! This song has to be one of Rage Against the Machines all time bests. When the bass just rings through on the chorus it sbad ass. It makes me just want to stand up in a class lecture and scream the lyrics.
Killing in the name of is a good song...... it ain't great.... Rage shouldn't make songs with only 5-lines in it and just repeat em throughout the whole song!
Killing in the name of is imo the lamest song ratm ever made (though it's still cool, but ratm makes GREAT songs... not GOOD songs...)
as Tom said: A good song makes u wanna tap your feet and get together with ur girl.... A great song makes u wanna destroy cop cars and set fire to the suburbs.
Yeah, I just saw Rage in Osaka on a couple days ago, and they closed with Killing in the Name. It got the crowd hyped, but it definitely doesn't have enough depth for me. I guess it was the one song that the non-English speakers could really chant along to.
well i think with killing in the name, the power of it is all in the repetition. i mean, your fucking yelling FUCK YOU I WONT DO WHAT YOU TELL ME and if u say shit like that once it might not fucking inspire you as amuch, but if your fucking screaming it like 20 times, it hits you, and ur like YOUR RIGHT WHY AM I LISTENING TO THESE FUCKERS ALL THEIR DOING IS LIEING KILLING AND ABUSING. FUCK THAT, I WONT DO WHAT THEY TELL ME.
that song is just pure RAGE and frustration and power.
Yeah, they could have done more with Killing in the name of. To me it sounds like a song written for the sake of a song, you know what i mean? There was not the same level meaning, fight or resistance in that one compared to their other tracks
Exactly, well put my friend, I recently put my copy back in the car cause I was craving some Rage and I realized that it is technically a hip hop album when you get all the way through it. Its the perfect mixture of rock 'n' roll and hip hop.
i play bass too. i'm teaching myself guitar. :] i've been playing bass for 2 years, and i thought i'd have trouble with the chorus but i don't at all. it's a damn good song.
I just introduced my friend to RATM, he'll thank me later.

great song. im just wondering what does "the seventh level" mean?
myguineapig 3 years ago
The seventh level of Dante's infernowas where all the violent criminals and warmongers were sent. Im pretty sure that was the intended reference.
KYdrifter 3 years ago
what is dantes inferno
RageAgainstIraq 3 years ago
It a reference to the afterlife in the book/epic poem, The Divine Comedy. Its a huge time piece of Italian literature.

The evil empire album had the best lyrics, but was overlooked because it was quite low key and not as heavy.
I don't enjoy the fact that Rage's most popular song was Killing in the name, it has only about 5 sentences in it, shame.
