Hey, another thing is I still can't find the meshes and morphs in any version of pheonix or firestorm that I have dl'ed. I'm getting really frustrated because I'm running into problems with every single thing I'm trying to do.
@GypsyWinters You'll have to go to the Phoenix site and download an old version of the non-mesh Phoenix viewer. That option has been removed from the current version of Phoenix and Firestorm. Otherwise, you'll need to use the XML option with the Wiz Daxter plugin or Machinimatrix Avastar plugin. Neither plugin is free however.
Hey I finally got a new laptop to be able to use blender. I got 2.62 and I can't select more than one part at a time holding shift or any other way. I tried 2.49 but that one won't even open avatar.blend. Also can't find anything in 2.62 like set smooth, etc. They have auto smooth? Not the same thing I don't think. @GypsyWinters What are you trying to select? As for smooth, the command is called "shade smooth" in later Belnder versions. You can reach it in Edit mode by making your selection then hitting the "W" hotkey and picking "shade smooth". It can also reach it in object mode from the toolshelf under "shading". Not sure why you can't open the avatar.blend file in 2.49 since it is a 2.49 file.
I love your way of explaining this, my only issue is i have the newest version of Blender which looks different and has different menu's, could you PLEASSSSSSSE PLESSSSSSSSSE do a new tutorial for the new blender users like me?

My controls are different because everything you're saying to hit isn't working for me. Like H does nothing, and I can't find "hide' as an option...I had to get an older version of blender cause my pc couldn't support it, so I have 2.41 or something like that. Any ideas?
@GypsyWinters Hi Gypsy. I've never used that version. The hotkeys in my tutorials work for Blender 2.49 and above though. As for Blender 2.41, does it even have a Collada 1.4 exporter?
@ashasekayi Lol I have no idea. I haven't been on in a while and never really used blender. I was strictly using photoshop for my designs and the mesh technology is completely new to me. I'm trying to learn it.
@serdar430 That script doesn't come with Blender at the moment. You'll have to download a copy of it and install it in the latest Blender. I have two videos on the topic. Look on my channel for "How to Use the New Bone Weight Copy 2.5x Script" and "How to Install Blender 2.5x and Blender Addon Scripts".
I need some help.. I can't seem to open the avatar.blend file... I had Blender 2.59 and couldn't find the file anywhere so I also tried using Blender 2.49 like in the video and when I click File, open, it doesn't appear on the list there like it does in the video.. I also tried opening it with Jass Pub - 2.. and it does open but it's not a solid like it is when you open it with Blender... I would appreciate any suggestions... Thanks.
@23kdowner The avatar.blend file should open in any Blender version from 2.49 and up. If you open the file the first time, it will be in wireframe display mode. You just need to hit the hotkey "Z" to switch to solid display mode.
curious question, i rigged my mesh and exported it to .dae (1.4) and when I go to upload the item to sl,I geta message saying the model contains no mesh, see log for details. Any idea what im doing wrong? I have a mesh thats at 14k, using v3 as well

Another thing. I have pheonix 1.6.0 but there's no meshes under character in advanced. It ends with Rebake Textures.
